00:00It was January 2nd, 1990, a police detective named Lieutenant David Messmore happened to
00:08see the missing persons report. And every day I would come back, I would come to school,
00:12I would call him or he would come down and I would tell him what I learned. So my father
00:16would come
00:16home and he would have, one night he had, he had all these cuts all over his hand and scratches.
00:21And I said, he's got all these scratches on his hands and his forearms. Another day he had these
00:25bruises. One time he asked me to rub his shoulders with Bengay, which is like a muscle rub. I take
00:31me into a room and I get a breathing treatment with a family friend, a doctor. And that's when
00:34they say to me, call your Lieutenant Messmore, found your mom. And then they said, and she was,
00:39on one hand, like I was really relieved. The flip side of that and the overwhelming sadness that
00:45comes, wraps you up like a tsunami. And I think that was the moment that I was like,
00:51my life will never be the same again. I'm thinking about my sister. I'm thinking about like where
00:55we're going to live, how she's going to survive, how we're going to survive, how I'm going to take
00:59care of her. I'm pretty much thinking about everybody else but myself. And I'm thinking about
01:02like, what do I have to do now to make sure that he never walks free?
