Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano on Tuesday, June 2, disclosed that members of the minority bloc had planned to remove key committees from the majority bloc.

Cayetano, speaking in a Facebook livestream, said this is why the Senate majority bloc, under his leadership, has decided not to show up or convene the session for two days, since Monday, June 1. (Video courtesy of Alan Peter Cayetano via Hannah L. Torregoza | MB)

00:08Why do I say a legitimate majority?
00:11In a completely independent Senate, 13 is 13.
00:18In a democracy, you cannot say, I love democracy.
00:22Tapos pag minority ka, gusto mo, ikaw masunod.
00:26Pag minority ka, you have a moral influence to try to influence the majority.
00:30But you cannot supplant your decision for the decision of the majority.
00:35We have the majority.
00:3713 elected senators out of 24.
00:41Actually, 14 kami na pressure nila yung isa.
00:44In the future, I can show you paano siya tinakot and I can show you kasama talaga namin.
00:59Don't get me wrong, ha.
01:00I'm not blaming the Sandigan Bayan or the law or legal processes.
01:04I'm saying later on it will be revealed that they abused the Blue Ribbon Committee.
01:15I won't go there right now because I want everyone to fully understand the situation.
01:21The situation now is that we want an independent impeachment.
01:27Magagana po yan.
01:28Walang mga scheme, sinister plot.
01:31Basta kung anong ebidensya, lalabas yung ebidensya.
01:34And I will correct kung totoo yung reports about one senator na pag sila daw majority, malalatag nila ebidensya.
01:57Okay?
01:58So, in accordance with the rules.
01:59And there are rules.
02:00There are rules of evidence.
02:02So, people will be able to judge us.
02:04So, that's one important thing, the impeachment.
02:06The other important thing is yung ekonomiya natin.
02:10Presyo.
02:11So, in the next few days, we will be announcing to you
02:15the hard work that we're going to do in the different committees
02:19to help address inflation,
02:29after summer, pasukan,
02:31to help address the problems of K-12,
02:33to help address the problem ng mga gustong mag-aral, hindi makapag-aral.
02:38There are many, many other problems in between that.
02:50So, napakaraming problema.
02:53But if we allow the flood control issue,
02:56the biggest corruption issue in our history,
03:00to go unchecked,
03:02let me throw you this question.
03:20May congressman?
03:21May cabinet member ba?
03:22May mastermind ba?
03:24O wala?
03:25Ano yung real numbers?
03:27Sa 1 trillion a year,
03:29sa 2023,
03:302024,
03:312025,
03:33ano ba dyan ang tama?
03:34Ngayon ba?
03:59But what about the Blue Ribbon Committee?
04:01We gave Sen. Laxon a chance.
04:04Napakatagal yun.
04:05Kayo na magpwenta ilang buwan o isang taon.
04:08Diba?
04:09So, Sen. Marcoleta had one hearing.
04:13Pipigilan natin yun.
04:15Witnesses.
04:16Pag nandyan na yung witness,
04:18matatest natin.
04:19Kaya ako, hindi ako nagja-judge.
04:21Pag nakita ko sa press con,
04:22of course, I'm intrigued.
04:23Of course, I listen.
04:25I do a little bit of research.
04:26But until matesting yan sa cross-examination,
04:30dun pa lang ako maniniwala.
04:32At,
04:33ibabalandra ko po yan
04:34o iisa side-by-side ko
04:35sa mga existing na
04:37ebidensya.
04:38So, again,
04:39uulitin ko po ha.
04:41Kailangan tignan po natin
04:43nangyayari sa Senado
04:44sa mas malaking konteksto
04:45ng katotohanan.
04:47Gusto ba natin
04:48na ang Senado
04:49ay maging kasangkapan,
04:51ay gamitin,
04:53no?
04:53Para ilabas ang totoo
04:55o ito ay kasangkapan
04:58para itago ang totoo?
05:00Is the Senate for truth or not?
05:14P Padre song.
05:14As ...
05:14P Padre ...
05:15No.
05:15P Padre ...
05:15...
05:15A?
