00:00I have resigned from the Canberra Liberals. From now on, I will be serving as an independent on the crossbench.
00:06There is no one issue or reason for why I am going. I have simply had enough of being part
00:13of an organisation with such a toxic culture.
00:16There has been a long-running campaign against me of bullying, intimidation, lies and even a threat of physical violence.
00:24Conduct which is tolerated and accepted but should be condemned.
00:28The community and the many decent people in the local party all deserve better than they're getting.
00:35These things have taken the rest of the toll. But, more important, there have been a distraction.
00:41After the week that coercive control legislation was introduced, I realised how much of my time and energy has been
00:50dragged into dealing with internal cultural issues.
00:53I want my energy to be used for the things that matter, for the benefit of my community, like the
01:00coercive control legislation is doing.
01:03So, while it does not mean that an easy decision, it is the right one for me and for Europe.
01:08I think this is a decision.
01:09You probably have been at a fair, right?
01:09I think this is the right one for us to get into the upperirts.
01:09But, however, what I think it甚麼 means.
01:12You know it.
