00:00Paul Davis.
00:01First Minister, reports of sewage discharges in Ceredigion Pembroke are also far too frequent
00:07and my constituents are increasingly frustrated that these incidents continue to occur with little visible progress
00:14in addressing this pollution.
00:17Now, as well as tackling these discharges and storm overflows,
00:21urgent action is also needed to improve our water infrastructure to prevent these incidences from recurring.
00:28Now, as you're aware, West Wales is home to many blue flag and green coast beaches
00:33and it's vital that these water quality standards can continue to be met
00:38so that our coast can be enjoyed by local residents and indeed visitors to the area as well.
00:44Therefore, can you outline what steps are currently being taken to address repeated sewage discharges in West Wales
00:50and further to your earlier answers, what further measures will this government introduce to tackle this issue
00:58in Ceredigion Pembroke and ensure that the local beaches continue to maintain high quality standards?
01:04I think the most important thing to do is to repeat what I said.
01:08We will act by targeting prevention and enforcement where evidence shows it is needed.
01:12That means in relation to polluted rivers and it means in relation to polluted seas around our coast.
01:20We want to see urgent action.
01:22It is why we want to see regulation of Wales being devolved to Wales
01:25so that we can have as much influence as possible on the cleanliness of our rivers and our seas.
