00:00This is an important moment for Europe to decide on its global competitiveness in the biopharma sector,
00:07both in terms of impact to human health for citizens of Europe,
00:10but also the investment in innovation and research and development.
00:15And so there are several asks and aspects that need to be revised as part of the European policy.
00:20The first we agree with is we need to get faster on the regulatory framework on approval
00:26and access to patients for innovations that come forward.
00:30At the same time, the incentives for intellectual property need to be ones that are globally competitive.
00:37And so instead of looking at reductions, we need to look at ways to improve intellectual property
00:44and also the long-term investment profile of Europe, not only for production,
00:51but more importantly for research and development and getting new innovative medicines forward.
