00:00In 2023, 315 women were killed by men and 248 women were found suspiciously dead in Turkey and they were
00:11killed just because they were women and this is the definition of femicide actually you know.
00:16And as the We Will Stop Femicide platform, we have been collecting data on femicides since 2010 and in the
00:26past 13 years, the only year in which femicides decreased was 2011.
00:33This was the year the Istanbul Convention was signed by Turkey.
00:37Despite the fact that the effective implementation of the Istanbul Convention saves women's lives, the political power in Turkey decided
00:47to withdraw from it in 2021.
00:50These eight nice women who were in just one day, they were all young women.
00:57They just wanted to make their decisions on their own about their life.
01:03This was the case, as always it is, in Turkey.
01:07Of course, it creates a really big public anger among the women and I hope that we will reflect our
01:17anger on the streets on the 8th of March.
01:21We will have a feminist night march tomorrow.
