00:00In the California Post poll, Spencer Pratt was leading in the mayor's race in LA,
00:04ahead of Karen Bass, the incumbent, by less than half a point. The socialist candidate,
00:09Nitya Raman, was far behind, about six points back of the front two. However,
00:13in some other polls, Raman is actually polling in second place. What appears to be happening
00:17is something like race car driving, where the person behind the leader can draft off of them
00:23and benefit from having less drag, then try to overtake at the finish.
00:26Raman may be doing something similar with regard to Spencer Pratt. She's letting him lead with all
00:32the criticisms of Karen Bass, her perceived failure on the wildfires, the homeless problem that remains
00:37out of control, Hollywood declining, the economy of the city in trouble. And she's letting him
00:42say those things because she supports the same policies that Bass supports, so she can't make
00:47those criticisms. But as people are starting to realize that Karen Bass might not deserve re-election,
00:52they're looking at Spencer Pratt and they're being told by Democrats that he's a MAGA guy,
00:56that he's a Republican. And they've decided they can't have any more of those, so Nitya Raman is
01:01the non-Bass alternative. In a sense, she is drafting off of Spencer Pratt's viral social media campaigns
01:08and his ubiquitous presence in the media. It could be that on election night and in the days that follow,
01:14while it looks like Pratt might finish in the top two, Raman could sneak in there among late deciding
01:19voters who don't like Bass but can't quite pull the lever for Spencer Pratt.
01:23So, let's see.
01:24So, let's see.
