00:57and they just actually blow you out of the building.

01:02and I had my 5-30 workout, watched the game right up until the 7th.

01:08I was like, they'll probably put on a few more.
01:10And I fully expected to see one of those 12-5.
01:13You know what I mean?
01:13Like it was one of those days like, yeah, you held Tech down long enough,
01:16but there's too much there.
01:19Five first-team All-ACC players, first-round picks, the whole deal.
01:24So when I get out at 6, literally it was 6-30.
01:27So in that hour, I turn and I go, 7-7 in the ninth?
01:32And I see bottom of the ninth, and it's like, oh, yeah,
01:35they're not even the home team, which is a whole other thing you brought up
01:38in our notes from last night.
01:40And then I just, I mean, you just knew.
01:42I mean, when they didn't score in the 10th, you knew it, right?
01:44I mean, like now you're at last at bat.
01:46Not only they didn't score, they're swinging it.
01:48Like it came off the rails.
01:51They unraveled.
01:52You know, sports, there is no way for somebody that hasn't played
01:57or been around the game or is a true fan to understand the absolute,
02:02you know, devastation when you invest what they have in this program
02:08in terms, I'm talking about dollars.
02:10I'm talking about, you know, emotionally what this team did,
02:13ran through the ACC regular season, ran through the ACC tournament,
02:18haven't been out of a regional in 21 years,
02:22which is almost impossible for a program as good as Georgia Tech.
02:2613 straight they've been in and haven't gotten out.
02:29So 21 total and then 13 straight.

02:34Scratch your head because.
02:35It's really bad.

02:38And a couple of the teams, and Danny Hall will tell you that,
02:41a couple of them absolutely were great, but a few of them you kind of knew.
02:47Yesterday's team could win the whole College World Series.
02:51And now Georgia's going to.
02:53And we're pulling for Georgia.

02:54I mean, you know, Georgia's got a shot, right, like everybody else.
02:57I think your stat about every single team from last year's College World Series,
03:02every single team didn't even make it to the regional, super regional this weekend.
03:08Forget about going back to Omaha.
03:09They're not even playing in a super regional.
03:12And that's what, 16 teams there.
03:14They're not even one of 16.
03:15And those are eight.
03:16So that's the reality of sports and baseball more than anything.
03:20But that's a horrendous track record and horrendous failures.
03:25It's almost inconceivable that you can't, with a program at that level, get over the hump.
03:33I mean, and this was just a disastrous thing in front of your home fans.
03:36And my point is, they were on the field 90 minutes after the game.
03:41They're never going to be together again.
03:43A bunch of guys are going on to Major League Baseball.
03:46They'll never be that moment.
03:48Two of their players will be top 10, maybe top 8 picks.
03:50When you are 51 years old, people are not going to say, we love that team so much.
03:57They will not talk about winning ACC titles.
03:59They'll say, oh, yeah, that was a good team.
04:01But, boy, all they'll remember is that you could not get it done.
04:04And that's the thing about sports.
04:05It's not just about Georgia Tech.
04:06It's anybody driving in the car that's a fan that has played in games.
04:09I don't care if you're in high school.
04:11You remember that loss.
04:12Just the way Rusty comes in here on the other side of it.
04:14It talks about winning a state title at his high school.
04:18And that has defined 50 years of his relationships.
04:23Those guys, it will be devastating when they're in their 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s to think about,
04:30dude, we had the greatest team, one of the greatest offenses in college baseball history,
04:34and we couldn't get out of the weekend.
04:36We blew leads.
04:37I mean, sports is so frigging cruel.
04:40And I do see the tweets, you guys.
04:42The ACC, you have one team standing, UNC.
04:47SEC has seven.
04:48So is it the did you beat up on the poor kids down the street?
04:52I don't know.

04:53I would never describe the ACC as the poor kids.
04:55It is a telling statistic.
04:57They also played Georgia and whooped them and seven run ruled them.
05:02Georgia literally, though, didn't have a pitcher,
05:04and they weren't going to sacrifice a pitcher on a Tuesday.
05:07So I get the bullpen game.
05:08I get all that.
05:09So now you're just kind of, I'm looking for excuses maybe of like,

05:16You haven't lost two games at home all season long, State.

05:31I mean, like, I can't believe when I see, and I'm really not trying to pile on.

05:39But, I mean, they're playing in the SEC where seven teams are in the Sweet 16.
05:43So it means you're in a massive conference.

05:47Your competition is better.
05:48When I see a St. John's beat Florida State, like, that's what jumps out at me.

05:56But they didn't get out of the regional, did they, Troy?
05:58Yes, Troy is one of the first four that have never been to a Super Regional.

06:32So baseball, like, of any game, and listen, the Braves had the same thing happen for years.
06:37We lost more games on our home field that decided our fate when we were the better team.
06:42The Cubs, the Giants, the Marlins, the Cardinals, the Phillies, like, you know, one night we're loaded
06:48and we're down 10-0 in the first inning.
06:50Like, baseball is wild, right?
06:53And, yeah, they should be devastated.

06:56And the fact that Georgia's playing in Athens, I mean, take your medicine, man.
