00:01Cayetano's old playbook returns, with air conditioning turned off and Wi-Fi disconnected
00:05at the Senate plenary session Monday, June 1, even with minority senators present. The
00:10shutdown of utilities coincide with the non-appearance of members of the majority bloc. Some, including
00:16Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano, chose to stay with Senator Jingoy Estrada as the
00:20latter was arrested over plunder and graft charges. Members of the minority and guests
00:25left the premises given the circumstances at the session hall. Cayetano tried to rally
00:29members of the minority bloc, saying events of the past few days may have blurred this
00:33distinction, but what happened with one of our colleagues today brings it sharply back into focus.
00:38But minority senators criticized the majority bloc's absence, describing it as a boycott of duty.
00:44So disgusting. Another waste of taxpayers money.
00:52Our colleagues with the majority did not show up today.
01:09This isn't the first time utilities were shut down during Cayetano's leadership. In 2020,
01:14Cayetano refused to step down as Speaker of the House, leading to a shutdown of utilities on the plenary floor.
