00:04deforestation is a real threat facing humanity as global warming continues and carbon sequestering
00:09trees remain one of our best hopes of slowing the process so how do you replant enough trees
00:13while deforestation from wildfires and human consumptions continue to wreak havoc on their
00:17populations with drones of course this is what an australian biotech startup calls air seed
00:23technology they have a fleet of these drones each of which can plant upwards of 40 000 seeds per day
00:29which the company says is 25 times faster than human planting and also 80 cheaper so it's a really it
00:35really allows you to tackle large-scale restoration projects but initially allows another biotech which
00:40is the the support system for the seed once it's on the ground that support system is a biomass pod
00:46with a carbon coating that both feeds the seed and protects it from local wildlife but they're not
00:51just capable of inserting the seeds into the earth but they also do so autonomously air seed is already
00:56planted around 50 000 trees in countries all over the world but hopes to reach 100 million trees
01:01planted by their drones by 2024
