00:04NASA's Mars Insight lander's Twitter profile posted this, a photo of what it said might be its last, since its
00:10solar panels had become covered in dust and it was losing power.
00:13It was a tear-jerking tweet, and now, only days later, the lander's predictions have come true.
00:18This is the post from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, saying goodbye to the incredible little lander.
00:23Rest easy, little lander. NASA Insight's mission has ended after more than four years of detecting Marsquakes, meteoroid impacts, and
00:30unique science on Mars.
00:31Congratulations and thank you to the team that made these pioneering discoveries possible, adding a video captured by Insight of
00:37the sun literally setting on both Mars and the lander's mission.
00:41The lander touched down on Mars back in 2018, and since then, it's been giving us an inside look at
00:45the Red Planet.
00:46It has outlived its mission parameters as well, detecting seismic data and sending it back to NASA for more than
00:52four years.
00:52While surpassing its expected two-year mission goal, and just this past May, it detected the largest Marsquake ever recorded,
00:59with a quake that expended more energy than all the other quakes ever detected on Mars.
01:03But not all hope is lost for the now-sleeping Insight lander.
01:05There is a small chance its solar panels might dust themselves off, and NASA says they'll be listening, just in
01:11case.
