00:00We really do feel like the forgotten end of town. We've been on Church Street for 10 years now
00:04and it just seems to be one thing after another with the roadworks in the street
00:08and then the waterworks coming up Church Street and now all the scaffolding at the
00:11end of the street really is having a negative impact on business.
00:19Hi everyone, it's Grace from the Momoshy Deacon. I'm here today on Church Street to speak to
00:24business owners and residents to hear about why the street is very much so alive despite the
00:30ongoing building works which have had an impact on the footfall to this part of town.
00:34We've created a new Facebook page for Church Street to try and bring awareness to the top of town because
00:39it seems sometimes it gets forgotten about but we're going to get it back on its feet back to its
00:42glory
00:43and just celebrate a quirky little street that needs to be celebrated. With the scaffolding at the moment
00:47as well I think that we just need to draw more attention to the street and all the amazing
00:51businesses that we've got down here that need to be celebrated. It's one of my favourite streets.
00:56Oh we love all the shops, the whole area is wonderful. I love Church Street, it's really nice.
01:01I consider Church Street to be one of the prettiest streets in Monmouth and Monmouth is really pretty
01:07but it's gorgeous it's got these kind of flagstones of beautiful buildings. We've had lots of people
01:13including friends saying that they would not think we're here they've actually phoned up to make sure
01:20we are up here because they think there's nothing up the street. You've got to remember that the shops
01:25are open. People thought we was closed when they couldn't get through the scuffle then.
