ACT Treasurer Chris Steel announces $1.34 billion for northside hospital project over seven years, making the total expected investment $1.5 billion.

00:00But we've been very clear that we will borrow to meet the generation of infrastructure needs of our community.
00:07This is an infrastructure project that can't wait until we can fund it through cash services.
00:14We need to invest in it now.
00:16And so the government will be making this investment of what is $1.5 billion over the next seven years
00:23to make sure that we can get on and deliver the project.
00:26Construction is already underway to make sure that we've got the capacity in our acute hospital system that our community
00:35needs.
00:36They just can't wait for it to be pushed down the track in ten years' time.
00:42We'll have more to say about the Territory's finances on Budget Day.
00:46But we've looked very closely across the infrastructure program to make sure that it's sustainable and deliverable.
00:52And this is a major investment that we're making.
00:55We've fitted it into the program in a way that we think achieves those outcomes.
