00:00This is about the day of history and taking a historic decision granting EU candidate status to Ukraine and Moldova
00:08and putting Georgia firmly on track to follow.
00:12And I would very much like to congratulate the people of these countries that have looked to Europe as a
00:20home and one that can give them the protection for their fight for the values of democracy and freedom of
00:28justice that are the same as our values that we share with them.
00:32The European Parliament was among the first to call for this decision to be taken and we have been vigorously
00:39advocating with our Ukrainian partners for this decision.
00:44So I'm very pleased to see this historic step happen today.
00:48A few hours ago we adopted a resolution within the European Parliament that was overwhelmingly voted in favour of opening
00:59the door to these three countries.
01:01As we said, we will not go back to a world before the 24th of February.
01:07We will only go forward into a Europe that values its geopolitical and security situation.
