00:02good morning 97-1 it's a treat because we have stony in today and it coincides
00:08brilliantly beautifully with the final canadian team being eliminated from the stanley cup
00:13playoffs right so the last few years because i actually unlike some other i love the country
00:19of canada i love canadian hockey today i wore the 1972 summit series jersey paul henderson
00:25scored the winning goal and they won the series over the soviets it was bobby clark my idol's
00:30first like claim to fame breaking valerie karlamov's ankle which actually helped them
00:36win it um so i love canada so i'm just having a little fun here uh but as we know
00:42they have not
00:42won a stanley cup since 1993 and i know yes there are canadian players that have won stanley cups
00:49um and you add the fact that the the gold medal thing last year united states beating them and
00:58they didn't even win a medal at the world championships this time canada they lost to
01:03what norway and anyway hilarious so in tribute we i kind of do a little spoof as you know on
01:10the
01:10canadian national anthem now john hates the fact that i think that the canadian national anthem is
01:16actually melodically a better national anthem than ours and if you've been following canada and i did
01:23it this way it's a little risky because montreal was the last team eliminated and if you know if you
01:31ever watch montreal games at the bell center previously the forum when i was a kid there is the
01:38guy a guy named roger doucette would sing the national anthem and he'd start in french and then go
01:44right into english and they still do that so oh boy we're going to give this a whirl i'm not
01:49going
01:49to do half and half i'll just try to do a little bit of yes all right here we go
01:55and to the francophones
01:57i apologize
01:57the last time you won i was 34 and mcjesus wasn't born since 93 it's the same and it's the
02:27same and it's
02:27the true north hearts are torn god keep your land stanley cup and gold medal free
02:39whoa canada it's been since 93
02:51whoa canada no cup since 93
03:06someone's gonna have to grade your french because that's not my purview uh but i thought you hit it
03:11some high notes in there and um as only you can thank you whoa canada yes i didn't think you
03:17were
03:17gonna make it to the french part i was getting worried for you i know you did it good job
03:20thank
03:20you thank you soldier yes trump oh that was that you're singing just makes my ears bleed when it
03:27gets deep like it's not as bad as if i was just singing a regular song i don't think oh
03:32i think i
03:33think uh you know you really got into the depths of your soul there it was good i also had
03:37a note
03:38you said the last time canada won a cup you were 34 i believe if my math is correct yeah
03:44so 1993
03:47yeah i was born in 58 yeah no i'm not questioning your math i'm just realizing if they're gonna win
03:52a cup i will be at least 34 yes i was born in 93 yes you've never seen him i've
03:59never i mean yeah i
04:00guess i could have been a few months old when the montreal canadians won the cup but yeah it'll be
04:04at
04:04least 34 i'll be at least 34 the next time they do it yeah
04:10hilarious and we know the uh vancouver's never won one vancouver's never won toronto's last one was
04:1767 the last year before expansion when it was a 16 league ottawa hasn't won ottawa hasn't won
04:24edmonton obviously has won a few um calgary has 88 larry mcdonald right lanny mcdonald yeah sorry
04:32lanny mcdonald they came close with jeroma ginla they lost in the early 2000s yeah mike vernon
04:37was won the stanley cup for calgary one year and montreal 93 and in the 80s too yeah
04:45and 70s and montreal's got quite a few cups it's one of the things that stands out so i went
04:51to the
04:52hockey hall of fame this weekend first trip to toronto the city really clean for a big city oh
04:58it's unbelievable food awesome almost everything we had except one thing we may spend time on later
05:04this week food was awesome the hockey hall of fame you know this i grew up hockey first right so
05:10this
05:10was kind of a pilgrimage to get to go and see what it's all about and i thought was cool
05:15as they made
05:15sure i assume this isn't always there some specifics for the centennials so they had extra things for
05:23detroit and toronto and montreal and the rangers to celebrate a hundred years of hockey so so they have
05:29special exhibits every year yeah so this this is cut out and carve outs and there were two separate
05:34sections of red wing stuff just for the centennial season kind of celebrating how they got in the league
05:40and some of their milestones and moments along the way so that was super cool and not just because of
05:44a red wing fan but to see it for all the original six teams they also had something i really
05:48liked
05:49they had the memorabilia from the original barns so olympia and they had a chair and a brick and a
05:56ticket
05:56but they did it for the boston garden the forum they did it for for all of them all the
06:02original
06:03six or even afterwards just the original six and that that wasn't part of the centennial but it was
06:09as you go into a different wing i stopped and i maybe most people pass it by but i just
06:13thought it
06:13was so cool to have them all six there together to compare and contrast the the originals the ogs and
06:18those barns that made hockey famous in those cities i've gone i think two or three times first time i
06:25went it was near where the blue jays used to exhibition stadium or whatever where the blue
06:31jays used to play now it's like and it's downtown like in a mall it's it sneaks up on you
06:36it sneaks
06:37up on yeah you got to go down an escalator and around a bend but then you walk in oh
06:41yeah it's
06:42all there and it's interactive now it is they've got like kids can like shoot the puck on goal and
06:47yeah not just kids well anybody can but i see kids i see kids really getting after it and stonies
06:53yes
06:53exactly they had the bubble hockey too right um and i actually another thing i liked about it they
06:59had the wall of all the old masks oh that's awesome so you get you know the modern ones right
07:04but then you go back and you're like jerry cheevers with the stitches yeah i thought that was super cool
07:11and um obviously they have all the awards the trophies the stanley cup yes that that's like a
07:18separate spot too and it feels like a hallowed there's like a cathedral there's like the the
07:24renaissance artwork on the top it's very fancy very uh regal yeah i mean when you when you take
07:30the picture with the stanley cup yes like you did it's it's so cool yeah and i remember just trying
07:36to
07:36point out uh and take pictures from my friends back home a quick aside there's a line obviously to take
07:44the photos with the stanley cup and woman in front of me is getting as many photos as she wants
07:49as
07:50many angles i'm not throwing a fit i don't care take your time this is kind of your your chance
07:54to
07:54get a couple photos i walk up take one or two and then i start looking at the cup like
07:59you said like
07:59you want to study i found the 97 team i'm looking for the 98 team and as i'm doing it
08:04the next person's
08:05like butting me out of the way and i'm like hey can i get like 15 seconds here like killing
08:10me you're
08:11gonna get your photo i'm i'm exiting stage left just give me a moment to take a look at the
08:16stanley
08:17cup and they have like all the historic moments and things like that it's great uh i assume because
08:23i showed you before you left last time i was there they had there was this board game it was
08:29made by the
08:303m company 3m hockey blue line hockey that i was like yeah you rolled dice or whatever and they had
08:36that game there no kidding it was unbelievable and they had like jerseys of minor league teams and uh
08:43foreign teams that you wouldn't think have hockey did they have i'm sure they did it's a huge part of
08:49the hall of fame that like canadian montreal canadian dressing room yes you walk in and you kind of just
08:56in in awe of it right yeah i mean that's i have not been to the pro football hall of
09:02fame in canton
09:03me neither i've been i've been to the hockey hall of fame and i did cooperstown guys because i haven't
09:08done cooperstown and i haven't done the the basketball hall of fame springfield mass yeah i've done the
09:13around cooperstown we went to the uh the horse racing hall of fame around saratoga because we were
09:18very close to that that was pretty quick
09:22yeah and i've been to the rock and roll hall of fame like three times which is really really good
09:27because they change their main exhibit like once a year
09:31oh so it does depend when you go then so you right well they have the basic and then every
09:35year up top there every six months whatever like right now because i was i went i was in cleveland
09:41last week but we didn't go to the hall of fame because my friend didn't want to go
09:44stunned me but i didn't care because i went but the the big visit the big exhibit was paul mccartney
09:50and wings uh so you have some feedback on your woe canada sure i
09:57what the actual actual f am i listening to so beautiful thank you stoney awesome effing job
10:04stoney the terrible singing makes it that much better it says lol stoney it wasn't that terrible
10:10when stoney started singing my dog ran under the table and started whining
10:16definitely should have played the coming to america drop after stoney singing
10:20stoney needs to do a rendition of hey hey hockey town at the end of each march
10:25you know what next if i'm yeah yes we'll get you in regardless if you're alive
10:29that what you're gonna say no i wasn't if i haven't officially packed it in by then who knows
10:36says if the wings don't win i'd like to see a canadian team win at one of these years but
10:40i
