00:00And last time out they had to punt the football away. Anything positive possibly to take from that?
00:05There always is when you're punting the football away. It doesn't sound like it because you're giving it up.
00:10But you've avoided a mistake.
00:12At least you didn't turn it over.
00:13You didn't turn it over. Right? You're giving your defense a chance because you're punting the ball away.
00:19And they're set to go on the field as opposed to sudden change after a turnover.
00:24Wow, now you're going to go out there and stop people.
00:26So yeah, there's always something positive to gain from them.
00:28And there they went crossing route against the zone defense. What do you think of that?
00:33It takes real coordination between the passer and the receiver because you've got to read those zones and where the
00:40open spots are
00:41and be on the same page with the guy throwing the football.
00:44Because sometimes you're throwing it in front of the zone. Sometimes you're throwing it between the zones.
00:49Sometimes the receiver's going to just kind of find a spot in what we call sit down and present himself
00:53to the quarterback and throw it there.
00:55It's a tough read, but when they're in sync, it's really effective.
01:02This is Freeman on first and ten.
01:04And little room to maneuver there. He gets it down to about the 39.
01:08Just a yard on the first down carry, so it's second and nine.
01:12So many times we look at a short run and we praise the offense for trying to set the tempo
01:16and establish things.
01:17But the defensive guys, hey, they just won the battle there.
01:21It wasn't a big run giving up.
01:22They don't always have to absorb the body blows.
01:24Sometimes they dish them out themselves.
01:30Now Ryan on second down.
01:33Connects with Samu right side.
01:35And he's going to get this inside the 30.
01:38They give him 13 yards there on the play and a fresh set of downs.
01:42That was a nice completion on an out route.
01:45And those types of plays are the result of arm strength by the quarterback and timing by the receiver.
01:55So the offense has it first and ten.
02:05Freeman.
02:07And he's going to take this one down to about the 23-yard line.
02:11Give him three on first down.
02:13It'll set up a second and seven.
02:15But I think we know by now that every run is not going to be broken and get all the
02:19way to the end zone.
02:20But these short ones still have their value.
02:23You can still set up your play action and throw the football.
02:25You control the clock because you have the ball and they don't.
02:28And often the physicality sets the tempo for the game.
02:36They come out here in the eye.
02:40Freeman again.
02:42And they'll bring him down at the 13-yard line.
02:46Nine yards on the pick up there and it keeps the drive alive.
02:49That's a good, nice, crisp run for a first down.
02:52I wonder if the defense might have been loosened up a little bit,
02:55maybe anticipating a pass instead of the run that they got.
03:04So they're operating in the red zone.
03:16Here's Coleman.
03:18Trying to find a lane, but instead he'll get back to the line of scrimmage.
03:21And no more.
03:22That's going to go as a loss of a yard and it'll be second down.
03:26Let's just go ahead and get back through that play with his eyes
03:29because he's got to read his keys.
03:31Runner pass right off the top.
03:33You're probably going to read an offensive lineman to see if he sets up
03:36and pass protects or if he fires out for a running play.
03:38The next thing is you're going to check and see what the back's going to do.
03:41And if he ends up with the football, okay, now you've got to check and see.
03:45Does an offensive lineman come downfield and try and block you?
03:48Are you going to try to elude him?
03:49Are you going to take your mind and hold your spot?
03:51What are you going to do in this case?
03:53He's going to have to do any of that.
03:55Saw all of his keys, saw the play in front of him,
03:57and ran clean to the ball carrier and finished off the play.
04:01I know in every game we do we talk about momentum.
04:04That was a momentum play lost.
04:06And now there could be a letdown because they didn't get the interception.
04:11Yeah, you could almost hear the collective gasp on the sideline
04:14as he could not come up with that football.
04:16Seventh play of this drive coming up, but a long way to go on third down.
04:27This is Coleman.
04:28Man, this play gets blown up.
04:30They'll lose yardage back at the 17.
04:33It's a loss of a full three yards, and it brings up fourth down.
04:38Gerald McCoy is so slippery and elusive in the interior of the defense.
04:43I don't care who has the assignment to block him.
04:45They usually end up having to take at least two,
04:47and most of the time that's not enough either.
04:50Witness that tackle for a loss.
04:59And Bryant's kick is good.
05:02It's all about querer가, but it takes place another one from you.
