00:00That, my friends, was the last time the Knicks win the NBA Finals 27 years ago.
00:08That was the starting lineup versus the San Antonio Spurs.
00:12And 27 years later, surprise, surprise, it is the San Antonio Spurs again in a rematch
00:20versus the New York Knicks.
00:22Spurs have the home court as well.
00:24Game one.
00:25We finally have an opponent.
00:27Game one.
00:29Takes place Wednesday night in San Antonio, 8.30-ish.
00:35Tip-off time.
00:38We finally have an opponent.
00:40Well, we've been waiting for what feels like a month.
00:44While the Knicks get rested, continue to get their rest, the San Antonio Spurs,
00:50seven-game series with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
00:54And what an embarrassment Chet Holmgren is.
00:59One for two.
01:01Four points.
01:02Takes no shots in the second half.
01:05Ladies and gentlemen, that was Chet's last game in the Thunder uniform.
01:09Because if OKC is smart, because you heard Shea in the post-game press conference say,
01:13you know, trades happen and stuff.
01:15There's one guy OKC needs to target, and that's Giannis Antetokounmpo, but that's their issue.
01:21They got knocked out by the Spurs.
01:22The champs are out.
01:24There'll be no flip-flopping all over the place.
01:28It is Knicks, Spurs.
01:31We have an opponent.
01:33Now, they matched up three times this season.
01:35Yes, three.
01:37One was the NBA Cup.
01:40December 16th, the New York Knicks win the NBA Cup 124-113.
01:49That was the first matchup.
01:53In that game, the starters were Barnes, Cornette, Fox, Vassal, and Castle.
02:00If I remember correctly, Wemby was not 100%.
02:05Like, he came off the bench for this game, which is crazy.
02:09He was coming back from an injury, from what I remember.
02:11And the Knicks won that game 124-113.
02:14The high score in that game, you know, Wemby had 18 points in the game, paid 25 minutes.
02:18All five starters for the Spurs scored in double figures, seven total for the Knicks.
02:24Ojen and Obi led the way with 28 points, five for ten from three.
02:29Seven guys for the Knicks as well scored in double digits, including Tyler Kolick, who had 14 points.
02:34And Clarkson had 15 in that game as well.
02:37Robinson had 15 rebounds in that game.
02:39Game number two, it was on New Year's Eve.
02:44I'll never forget that game because Julian Champagne had 11 three-pointers in that game.
02:53It was 11 for 17 from downtown.
03:00Unbelievable from downtown.
03:02Scored 36 points.
03:04Wemby had 31 and 13 in that game.
03:07Fox had 26.
03:11For off the bench, Calvin Johnson, sixth man of the year, had 19.
03:15For the Knicks, the starting lineup was O.G., Diawara, Towns, Bridges, and Brunson.
03:21For the Spurs, it was Barnes, Champagne, Wemby, Fox, and Castle.
03:27134-134.
03:28134-132 Spurs win.
03:29And the third matchup, which took place March 1st at Madison Square Garden, it was a beatdown.
03:34The New York Knicks win 114-89.
03:38In that game, the starting lineup for the Spurs was Champagne, Wemby, Fox, Vassal, and Castle,
03:46which is the starting lineup now for the San Antonio Spurs.
03:49And for the Knicks, it was a full squad.
03:52O.G., Towns, Hart, Bridges, and Brunson.
03:56In that game, Bridges had 25 points.
03:57He was the leading scorer.
03:59Towns had 12 and 14 in that game.
04:02O.G. 12 and 5.
04:03Josh Hart 10 and 10, a double-double.
04:05Brunson 24 and 7.
04:07And the Knicks, Diawara, off the bench, had 14 points.
04:10It was a leading scorer.
04:12The Knicks, 2 out of 3 from the Spurs in the regular season.
04:16Now, a lot of Knicks fans didn't want OKC.
04:19I don't know why.
04:21They're a wounded animal.
04:24And they're the defending champs.
04:25And I want it to be the team that knocked the champs out.
04:29I wanted that.
04:33Now, so many people are, I want the easiest path.
04:37Your players in front of you.
04:38Now, before the playoffs, I said Spurs would win in 7 versus OKC.
04:42I had Knicks, Spurs in the finals.
04:44And I had the Knicks winning the championship in 6.
04:46And New York City burning to the ground June 15.
04:50RIP New York City.
04:54Game 6 is at Madison Square Garden.
04:56Do you know the party that is going to be outside of New York City
05:00if the Knicks win the championship in 6 games at home?
05:04Do you understand what's going to happen, New York City?
05:07Let me paint the picture for you.
05:10I've waited a long time for this.
05:12In 94, I'm going to be honest with you.
05:15I don't remember how confident I was in 94 versus the Rockets.
05:19I think I was, we're going to win the championship.
05:2499, tremendous run.
05:26But in that finals, I knew we had no shot.
05:29Without Patrick Ewing, the team was not healthy.
05:33And we lost in 5 to the Spurs.
05:36We've had some moments along the way, conference finals, conference finals.
05:39The most confident I've probably ever been in a Knicks team
05:41was when Charles Smith couldn't put the basket, the ball in the basket in game 5.
05:44Versus Michael Jordan and the Bulls.
05:48I felt that was the year we had the best team to dethrone Michael Jordan
05:52and Scottie Pippen and the Chicago Bulls.
05:55And I'll get into Rich Paul's stupid comments that he made
05:58about Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and the Bulls a little later in the show as well.
06:05So, this Knicks team has the games that have gone on in the postseason.
06:13And I'm going to be honest, Evan calls me the most obnoxious Knicks fan.
06:16I've gotten more obnoxious and more obnoxious after every beatdown this playoff run.
06:242-1 versus the Hawks?
06:26Was I nervous?
06:27Yeah, of course.
06:30Even though two losses were by one point each,
06:33I was a little nervous because the Knicks looked lost.
06:38They looked lost versus the Hawks.
06:42And then Game 4 happened, where Carl Anthony Towns was the facilitator.
06:48As legend has it, he went to Mike Brown and said,
06:51Hey, let me take some off Jalen Brunson's plate.
06:54Let me help out.
06:56Let me do more.
06:57Run the offense through me.
06:58And that opened up so many options for the Knicks.
07:00The backdoor cuts.
07:02Everybody moving.
07:02Everybody being involved.
07:04Everybody ready to run on a fast break because they knew they're getting the ball.
07:07They knew they're going to be involved.
07:09It's not this ISO one-on-one stuff.
07:11Now, Game 1 down 22 with 7 1ā2.
07:16He had nothing to lose, so Jalen Brunson cooked James Harden.
07:20I mean, he put him on the grill and burned his ass.
07:23Both sides.
07:24Front and back.
07:27Burned him to a crisp.
07:30Cooked him.
07:31And the Knicks came back and won that game in historic fashion.
07:35As every game has gone on, I've gained more and more confidence.
07:37Now, before the playoff start, I said Knicks will win their championship.
07:41I just thought everybody was focusing on the Pistons.
07:44Everybody was talking about Jason Tatum returning to the Celtics.
07:47I didn't fear any of those teams.
07:49So many Knicks fans didn't want to play the Pistons.
07:51Why?
07:53Why?
07:55Regular season, the playoffs are two totally different things.
07:59Remember last year, everybody was afraid.
08:01Oh, we got swept by this team.
08:04Got beat down by that team.
08:05The Celtics swept us.
08:06How many Knicks fans were scared?
08:10Oh, we can't beat Boston.
08:11And what happened?
08:14We beat the champs.
08:16We knocked them out.
08:21Jason Tatum making every excuse.
08:23Oh, we would have won it down 3-1.
08:25No, you wouldn't have.
08:26You lost.
08:27And you did all that talking to only blow a 3-1 lead to the Sixers.
08:33So, I wanted the rematch.
08:35I wanted the smoke.
08:36You guys didn't live up to your end of the deal.
08:39You didn't.
08:41So, here we are.
08:42During this run.
08:44Knicks spurs.
08:46It's happening.
08:46And the Knicks will win the championship.
08:49I said it before the Cavs series.
08:52And I'm saying it again.
08:55Not if.
08:56Or maybe.
08:56The Knicks will win the championship.
09:00See, my biggest fear playing OKC was if the refs got involved.
09:04And fell for the flopping.
09:06Which, they did a great job as the series went on with Oklahoma City.
09:10And the Spurs to not fall for it.
09:11There's the clips out there.
09:13I mean, you blow on a Spurs.
09:14You know.
09:15The back of a Spurs neck.
09:17I mean, yeah.
09:18On the back of an OKC's neck.
09:19They're falling on the floor flopping.
09:20If you sneeze on OKC.
09:22They're flopping.
09:27SGA in game seven decided not to flop around.
09:31And he balled his ass off.
09:33Unfortunately, he had no help.
09:35None.
09:36A.J. Mitchell was out.
09:38Jalen Williams was out.
09:41See, I thought it was stupid for OKC to rush Jalen Williams back in that series.
09:45I would have sat him the first two games and then took my chances the rest of the way.
09:48They're the defending champs.
09:54But I feel this Knick team is the best Knick team of my lifetime.
09:58The most talented Knick team of my lifetime.
10:01Top to bottom.
10:03Depth of this Knick team.
10:08The way they're playing together at the right time.
10:10You know, you hear it in all the sports.
10:12You want to enter the playoffs playing well.
10:14You know, baseball, you want to enter the playoffs playing well.
10:16Football, you want to, you know, be the hot team.
10:19Hockey, you want to have the hot goaltender going into the playoffs.
10:24Well, the Knicks were down 2-1 to the Hawks.
10:26And ever since then, with a plus, what is it, 262 point differential?
10:30They've been the best team in the playoffs.
10:32Beat down after beat down after beat down.
10:37Ass whooping after ass whooping.
10:40Sending teams to the corner.
10:42Sending teams to their room.
10:45Punishing teams.
10:48The way my mom used to punish me when I did some stupid stuff in school.
10:54That's what the Knicks have been doing to their opponents.
10:55Not just skating by.
10:58Winning by 2.
10:59Winning by 1.
11:00Winning by...
11:00No!
11:03Whooping ass is what they've been doing.
11:06And yet, you have the idiots who can't take the hate goggles off and give the Knicks their credit.
11:14And even before OKC got knocked off, I was preaching on these airwaves.
11:18Hey, everybody's talking about the Knicks.
11:20You know, who they played.
11:21Who the hell did OKC play?
11:24They played the Suns, who stink and had injuries.
11:27They played the Lakers without Luka and 90-year-old LeBron James.
11:30And Austin Reeves wasn't 100%.
11:32Nobody said a damn thing about those sweeps.
11:35But the Knicks, let's kill them because they're the Knicks.
11:39You look like idiots.
11:41And there's a bunch of you people that claim to be Knicks fans.
11:44You know who you are.
11:45Who listen to the station.
11:47Who call the station.
11:49On social media.
11:50And are big personalities on TV.
11:52Who quit on the Knicks.
11:54Who ran away for the Knicks.
11:56Who said this team would never win a championship.
12:00Would quiet any towns.
12:01Would never get to the finals with Jalen Brunson leading the way.
12:04And now, you're all on your knees with knee pads on.
12:09Loving the Knicks.
12:11Knicks are winning the championship.
12:13I've never had any doubt.
12:15You're frauds.
12:16You know who you are.
12:18Even down 2-1.
12:20A lot of you people jump ship.
12:22This Knicks team ain't doing anything.
12:24They're not going anywhere.
12:26We're going to fire this guy.
12:27We're going to trade this guy.
12:29You know who you are.
12:31Did I panic after game 3 down 2-1?
12:33Yeah, I did.
12:36I did.
12:38But that was the moment.
12:40And I've mentioned it numerous times.
12:41The Knicks as a team had to look in the mirror.
12:43And say, you know what?
12:45Are we going to go out like suckers?
12:49Are we going to man up.
12:51And start kicking ass.
12:53And play to our full potential.
12:56And this Knicks team.
12:58Has played historically great basketball.
13:00Better than a lot of the teams.
13:02That live in NBA history.
13:04Historic history.
13:06As the cream of the crop.
13:08The Knicks have kicked ass better than they have.
13:12And it's time for them to close the show.
13:14And cap it off.
13:15With an NBA championship.
13:18And if that happens.
13:21No, no, no.
13:22When.
13:24That happens.
13:26I know there's you idiots out there.
13:28That believe in that touch the money stuff.
13:31I bet you're the same ones.
13:32If I wear my lucky underwears.
13:33They're going to win this game.
13:36Same ones.
13:39The Knicks are winning the NBA championship.
13:41When the Knicks win the championship.
13:44Capital W.
13:45Capital H.
13:46Capital E.
13:47Capital N.
13:48When the Knicks win the championship.
13:51New York City.
13:53Is burning to the ground.
13:55And I will be out there with the fans.
13:57I posted the picture.
14:00Unfortunately.
14:01Well, not unfortunately.
14:02I was.
14:02I was an honor to be on air.
14:03As the Knicks were clinching.
14:04The Eastern Conference championship.
14:05For the first time in 27 years.
14:07You know, I made a promise.
14:08That I'd be out there.
14:09Swinging on poles with the fans.
14:10With the naked anatomy.
14:12Costume.
14:13Not actually naked.
14:14Because I don't want to go to jail.
14:16And lose my job.
14:17And miss the finals.
14:18And be on some registry.
14:20No, thank you.
14:21No, thanks.
14:22But I had the costume.
14:23I was here.
14:25I promise you.
14:28When the Knicks win the championship.
14:30I will be out there.
14:32Knicks shorts.
14:35Naked anatomy costume.
14:37Got to cut out the eyes.
14:38Because you can't even see through the damn thing.
14:40Your vision is blurred.
14:41The mouth a little cut open.
14:43Nick hat.
14:45And I will be out there partying with the fans.
14:47To God knows what hour.
14:49Or day of the week.
14:49Or day of the month.
14:50Because the party might not stop all summer long.
14:53Orange and blue party.
14:55In New York City.
14:57The biggest party.
14:59In the history of New York City sports.
15:01Mark.
15:02My words.
15:03It is happening.
