00:30In Marche 2015, l'Italian club Parma were declared bankrupt for the second time in a little over ten years.
00:36Failure to find a new owner to relieve them of their debt saw the club disbanded at the end of
00:41the season.
00:42But in July, they were reborn as Parma Calcio 1913,
00:47with legendary coach Nevio Scala joining as president.
00:55It all started with the phone call I received from Parma.
00:59They said,
01:00Coach, we need to talk to you about an important project concerning the club and a possible bankruptcy.
01:11I couldn't say no, because without wanting to sound arrogant, Parma Football Club was my creation.
01:19Its success at national and international level was a result of our work.
01:27The same spirit that allowed us to achieve that success has already been recreated in this team.
01:38Financially backed by local businesses, Parma Calcio is rebuilding from the bottom in Italy's amateur leagues.
01:45Under new ownership and new management comes a fresh approach to the running of the club, based on transparency and
01:52resolve.
01:55At the helm of this club, we have people who have been incredibly successful in their own enterprises.
02:10They've come into this club and got involved, which is quite incredible considering their expertise and standing.
02:18But the fact that they've put themselves on the front line to be part of an amateur football club has
02:26given the supporters a real lift.
02:32It's a new path.
02:35The impact has not only been felt by the football club, but by an entire city that has been reborn.
02:45This is definitely a winning team.
02:48It's made of people that, above all, want what is best for Parma.
02:53On the managerial side, there is a commitment,
02:56with Parma's local entrepreneurs wanting to do things correctly.
03:01And then on the technical side, there are the people who are part of Parma's history
03:06and who want to take this club back to where it deserves to be.
03:11Immortalised by the club's success in the 90s, the Stagio Tardini remains a symbol of Parma's strength.
03:18Despite dropping to Italy's Serie D, the club sold over 10,000 season tickets for the new campaign.
03:24It's a unity exemplified by long-standing captain and club legend Alessandro Luccarelli.
03:31I was always going to stay, no matter what, despite last season and everything that happened.
03:38It was a very easy choice to make because staying with Parma was what I wanted,
03:44to finish my playing career here and help the club return to the professional divisions.
03:50Returning Parma to the top is a project very much on track.
03:54Undefeated and leading their group in Serie D, the club has also bought back the trophies they were forced to
03:59sell through insolvency.
04:01But the struggle to return to the highest level remains.
04:08We know the task isn't going to be simple.
04:10As easy as it is for some people to say Parma will be back in Serie A within six months,
04:15it's not going to happen.
04:16But we'll get there step by step with our own strengths.
04:22Our objective is to get back to a professional level, though achieving it won't be simple.
04:29But the team know that.
04:31They're well equipped and they have the quality.
04:39We'll do our best to return Parma to the top, whether we get there in three years or in five.
04:45That won't just depend on us, but on many factors.
04:50It's not going to be a short journey or an easy one.
04:53But our passion will see us succeed.
