00:14This year, the 4th of July, is a day of special celebration, for we are emerging from the
00:23darkness of years, a year of pandemic and isolation, a year of pain, fear, and heartbreaking
00:32loss.
00:33It no longer controls our lives.
00:35It no longer paralyzes our nation.
00:38And it's within our power to make sure it never does again.
00:43And for that, we can thank the scientists and researchers, the educators, and all the
00:49other frontline and essential workers, like many of you here today.
00:57Each day, I carry a card in my pocket with my schedule on it.
01:02And the back of that schedule, on that card, I have the number of Americans who've lost
01:08their lives to COVID, the precise number.
01:12As of tonight, that number is 603,018 people have lost their lives.
01:20I have the number of Americans who we're losing together.
