00:00It's about enabling community pharmacists to really operate at the top of their license.
00:06So to be able to say, look, if you've got a problem with your ear or a throat infection
00:11or sinusitis, there's seven conditions which we are now enabling pharmacists to provide
00:18a direct prescription for, and it's going to be called an independent prescribing service.
00:23So thanks to the £340 million uplift to the pharmacy contract and the measures we're taking
00:29to mainstream independent prescribing into the education of pharmacists, we're going
00:35to, from September onwards, we're going to be seeing a really big ramping up of the number
00:39of pharmacists who are qualified to be independent prescribers, and that's great for patients
00:44because they don't have to then be shuttled between referrals from the GP to the pharmacy,
00:50then back again, and they are able then to get the service that they want from their
00:56trusted local community pharmacists.
