00:00Hi folks, the good news is that NHS Test and Trace is working ever more efficiently.
00:05The bad news is that they pinged me and I've got to self-isolate
00:09because somebody I was in contact with a few days ago has developed COVID.
00:15And it doesn't matter that we were all doing social distancing.
00:19It doesn't matter that I'm fit as a butcher's dog, feel great.
00:22So many people do in my circumstances.
00:25And actually it doesn't matter that I've had the disease and I'm bursting with antibodies.
00:30We've got to interrupt the spread of the disease.
00:34And one of the ways we can do that now is by self-isolating for 14 days
00:39when you get contacted by NHS Test and Trace.
00:42Because don't forget, we not only have this technique for interrupting the transmission of COVID,
00:48but we also now have two gigantic boxing gloves with which to wallop our foe into submission.
00:56Mass lateral flow testing, rapid turnaround, testing of a kind that this country is leading the way in
01:03and we've got tens of millions of these tests already.
01:06And of course, the prospect of a vaccine which I hope we'll be able to start distributing
01:12to those who really need it, perhaps even before Christmas.
