Though obviously not thought of in this way, the Gibson ES-350 is a great instrument to use for rock rhythm guitar playing. These guitars may not be for everyone, but they’re great “power chord” guitars, and I will often use them in the studio for that purpose.

00:08You know, these are narrow spaced PAS, as you can see really close here, the screws are narrower than a
00:16normal humbucking pickup, because the necks were kind of skinny and narrow, almost like a jazz bass.
00:24Not for everyone, and not for just blues. I mean, they're great power chord guitars. I use this a lot
00:29sometimes in the studio when you just pardon the tuning if it's out of tune. I don't know. It's an
00:34ES350.
00:48You know, it's just, I told you it's out of tune. But the thing is, they're really good because they
00:54sparkle a little bit, and the hollow body really allows a little bit more bass to come out of it
00:59than a 335.
01:09And if we turn the amp up, let's see here. See, I told you.
01:56All these guitars are not just for blues lawyers, right? You can rock with one of these.
02:02If you get a chance, they do reissue these, and they're really good.
02:06And if you get a chance to mess with one, both in the studio and live, if you can harness
02:11it.
02:18That's a cool trick.
02:19But they are cool guitars.
02:20And not really thought about much anymore, but I just thought I'd bring your attention to the magic of an
02:28ES350.
02:29This one being a natural one.
02:31They made them in sunburst as well.
