00:08We saw protesters tear gas yesterday to make way for a presidential photo op.
00:12I'd like to ask you what you think about that,
00:14and if you don't want to comment, what message do you think you're sending?
00:38We all watch in horror and consternation what's going on in the United States.
00:45It is a time to pull people together, but it is a time to listen.
00:51It is a time to learn what injustices continue despite progress over years and decades.
01:00But it is a time for us as Canadians to recognize that we too have our challenges,
01:08that black Canadians and racialized Canadians face discrimination as a lived reality every single day.
01:18There is systemic discrimination in Canada,
01:21which means our systems treat Canadians of color Canadians who are racialized differently than they do others.
01:30It is something that many of us don't see,
01:33but it is something that is a lived reality for racialized Canadians.
01:40We need to see that, not just as a government and take action,
01:47but we need to see that as Canadians.
01:50We need to be allies in the fight against discrimination.
01:55We need to listen.
01:56We need to learn.
01:58And we need to work hard to fix, to figure out how we can be part of the solution on
02:04fixing things.
02:05This government has done a number of things over the past years,
02:08but there is lots more to do, and we will continue to do that,
02:11because we see, we see you, we see the discrimination that racialized Canadians live every single day.
