00:00We are in the Applied series on Wednesday nights.
00:02We're going through Bible prophecy.
00:03What does the Word of God say about prophetic things?
00:06That is, future events.
00:09And God, by the way, tells us in the Bible,
00:11we are to know them, not avoid them.
00:13We are to be paying very close attention
00:16to what is over one quarter of the entire Bible
00:20is the prophetic Word of God,
00:23where God is speaking to us about future events.
00:27And we're looking at tonight, part two,
00:30of our message titled, The Coming of the King.
00:33And we're looking at these biblical events regarding,
00:39what does it mean regarding the coming of the King?
00:42And we looked at that by way of last week,
00:45looking at the kingdom realities of God's rule and reign.
00:50And how many things that God speaks to us in the Bible about
00:54about are regarding his kingdom coming,
00:58his kingdom established.
01:00But in advance, he has put his kingdom in our hearts as believers.
01:06And even if you're not a believer tonight,
01:08and somebody is telling you the gospel,
01:10which is Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins and mine
01:14and rose again three days later from the dead,
01:16according to the Bible and according to eyewitness accounts
01:18and according to Bible prophecy,
01:20if you repent of your sins and trust him for his love and for his sacrifice,
01:24the Bible says you will be saved.
01:26When I say that, that's where the kingdom of God is near you.
01:31Imagine that.
01:32The kingdom of God is near you,
01:33and it's God's desire that the kingdom of God move inside of you.
01:37And that happens when you say yes to the Holy Spirit,
01:40yes to the salvation of God that is in Christ Jesus.
01:43And when you say yes, the Bible says that God comes in
01:48and he sets up his throne in your life inside of you.
01:51And that is by the person and the work of the Holy Spirit.
01:55And so when we talk about the kingdom,
01:57the kingdom is now around you.
02:00But if you've accepted the kingdom of God,
02:02it is residing within you.
02:04But hallelujah, the kingdom is yet still coming.
02:08When Christ returns,
02:10and we're going to talk about some of this tonight,
02:13he's going to establish his kingdom on earth forever.
02:16And we look forward to that.
02:18The Bible has talked about that from Old to New Testament.
02:21Of course, the theme verse is John chapter 14, verse 29.
02:25We love this because Jesus said,
02:28and now I have told you before it comes,
02:30that when it comes to pass, you may believe.
02:34So Bible prophecy should lead us to a deeper understanding.
02:38And repeatedly, by the way,
02:40the Bible teaches us that in the last days,
02:43there's going to be many false doctrines and false teachers
02:48that are going to be coming along promoting heresies,
02:50which these heresies, these false religions Jesus warned us about,
02:55have their origin in Satan himself.
02:58And we talked about him quite a few weeks ago.
03:00But in our last time together,
03:04we introduced ourselves to the glorious aspect of God's kingdom.
03:07And it's a kingdom that's in a collision.
03:10And it's a beautiful collision.
03:12It's God's kingdom of light and of glory
03:15colliding with the kingdom of evil and darkness.
03:18And that's what you and I are living through right now.
03:21All the evil and ugly and the war and the death you see in the world,
03:25none of us cheer that stuff on.
03:26But we do understand that it's going to be like that.
03:29And Jesus said it's going to increase until he returns.
03:32What we're to pray for and stand up and fight for
03:36is that righteousness would prevail.
03:39There's no room.
03:40Listen, I'm going to shock some of you.
03:43There's no room in the Bible for somebody to be a pacifist
03:47when your family is under attack by lunatics
03:50or your nation is under attack.
03:53Did you know that?
03:53Well, what about turn the other cheek?
03:55That's regarding personal and insult.
03:57If somebody personally insults you,
04:00you're to turn the other cheek.
04:01If somebody picks up a knife and goes after your wife or your kid,
04:05you do not turn your other cheek.
04:08Do you understand that?
04:09God put that within you to exercise self-defense
04:13and God put it within nations with borders to defend themselves.
04:19God did that.
04:21And people don't like to hear that because most people live in a theory.
04:24They do live in a theory.
04:26Most people live in a theory.
04:27Well, I don't like that kind of talk.
04:30It doesn't matter.
04:33Right now, the Sudanese are trying to stay alive
04:35because they're being invaded by ISIS
04:38and terrorist organizations.
04:41They don't live in a theory.
04:44People who, listen, people who are comfortable live in a theory.
04:48They can dream dreams and they can play games
04:50because they can afford to.
04:52But when an enemy attacks, reality hits.
04:56And that's wake-up time.
04:59And so, Bible's very clear about that.
05:02Please mark these verses down.
05:04In 1 Timothy chapter 4, verse 1,
05:06because it matters where we're going tonight.
05:071 Timothy chapter 4, verse 1 says,
05:09Now the Spirit, that is the Holy Spirit,
05:11expressly says that in the latter times,
05:13I believe it's now, these days,
05:16some will depart from the faith.
05:18It doesn't tell us why, but it tells us how.
05:20They're going to give heed to deceiving spirits
05:23and doctrines of demons.
05:24This is pretty crazy, pretty intensifying,
05:28our alertness this way.
05:31Jesus said in the last days,
05:33the apostles said in the last days,
05:35there's going to be an advent
05:38or a release of or the coming of
05:43demonic spirits and deceiving spirits
05:45that are going to put out there
05:48false teaching, doctrines of demons.
05:51Now, demons are not going to preach it.
05:53Humans will preach it.
05:55But the demons will be manipulating people.
05:59Cults, occult, aberrant way of thinking.
06:03Some of the deception,
06:04as we've talked about in the past,
06:06impossible to detect
06:08unless the Holy Spirit is in you.
06:11He will warn you.
06:12Next verse, we have quite a few of these verses.
06:152 Peter chapter 2, verse 1 says,
06:17But there were also false prophets
06:19among the people,
06:20even as there will be false teachers among you
06:22who will secretly bring in destructive heresies.
06:27Okay, everybody, that's a big warning.
06:28If you're a Christian tonight,
06:30wherever you go to church, even here,
06:32always be on the guard for weirdos.
06:36Listen, you know what?
06:38This is a big church.
06:39Big church, big problems.
06:42Big church, big blessings.
06:45Big church, big influence.
06:47Big church, big attacks against it.
06:53And people come all the time
06:56to try to bring in destructive heresies.
06:59Listen, we've had to have people,
07:01they were so,
07:02we've, in the last couple of months,
07:04we've had two Jesuses show up here in services.
07:07They didn't look,
07:08they look completely different, by the way.
07:10But two, we had two different Jesuses show up
07:12saying they were Jesus.
07:14Last week or the week before,
07:16God's anointed prophet came here.
07:19And he said, can I talk to you?
07:20And I said, well, after I'm done greeting people,
07:23I was greeting you guys out front on Sunday morning,
07:26and he got kind of impatient.
07:28And then he came up to me and he said,
07:29I need to talk to you now.
07:30And I said, for being God's anointed,
07:32you're not very patient.
07:37And, but, you see, that really happens?
07:39Oh, yeah.
07:42Yeah, but anyway.
07:47It's biblical.
07:50False prophets among the people,
07:52even as there will be false teachers among you
07:53who will secretly bring in destructive heresies,
07:56even denying the Lord who bought them,
07:58and bring on themselves swift destruction.
08:01That doesn't mean it happens in the instant.
08:03It means their destruction is in route.
08:05It's moving quickly to get to them,
08:08even though you would want to see something happen
08:11right in that moment.
08:14God is the one who exercises his vengeance.
08:17Verse two, and many will follow.
08:19That's a sad word in Greek.
08:21It means this.
08:23And not a few will follow their destructive ways.
08:27A lot of people will go after them.
08:29Why?
08:30Because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed.
08:33Deception.
08:34Remarkable.
08:36This is the age in which you and I live in,
08:38and as I've been harping on this lately a lot,
08:41and that is, if you don't know your Bible,
08:43you're going to get sucked up into this stuff.
08:45Matthew's gospel warns us.
08:47Now, as he, Jesus, sat on the Mount of Olives,
08:50the disciples came to him privately saying,
08:52tell us, when will these things be?
08:54He was speaking about the end of the age
08:55and the destruction of the temple and all that stuff.
08:58He says, tell us, when will these,
08:59they said, when will these things be,
09:00and what will be the sign of your coming?
09:03And, three-part question,
09:05and the end of the age, or the end of the world.
09:07And Jesus answered and said to them,
09:09number one, take heed that no one deceives you.
09:14Wow.
09:15For many will come in my name,
09:18saying, I am the Christ, or I'm the Messiah,
09:21and will deceive many.
09:22Verse 24.
09:23For false Christs and false prophets will rise
09:27and show great signs and wonders,
09:29that is, demonic, miraculous things.
09:33If possible, even the elect,
09:37or deceiving even the very elect,
09:39which means, again, I always tell you guys,
09:42take the word if and hug it.
09:44Give it a big hug.
09:45Because that means it's impossible
09:47for the elect to be deceived.
09:49But the deception is going to be so bad
09:51that the only ones who are not going to be deceived
09:53are God's elect.
09:55Whew.
09:56His people.
09:57By the way, that applies,
09:58that has always applied to any age of his saints,
10:01any age of his believers, his people.
10:03Verse 25 says,
10:04see, I have told you beforehand, Jesus says.
10:07And then Matthew chapter 24, verse 45,
10:10tells us this.
10:12Who then is a faithful and wise servant
10:14whom his master made ruler over his household
10:16to give them food in due season?
10:19Blessed is that servant whom his master,
10:22when he comes, will find him so doing.
10:25Assuredly, I say to you,
10:27that he will make him ruler over all his goods.
10:29But if that evil servant says in his heart,
10:33listen,
10:34my master is delaying his coming
10:38and begins to beat his fellow servants
10:40and to eat and to drink with drunkards.
10:43In other words,
10:44people would say,
10:45I don't think Jesus is coming back soon.
10:47I believe in Jesus.
10:48I don't think he's coming back soon.
10:49And listen,
10:50when you really believe that,
10:51you get sloppy with your life.
10:54Because you think you got time.
10:55You think you can what?
10:57Play God.
10:58I don't mean play like you are God,
11:01but playing him like a instrument.
11:03You can't do that.
11:04Verse 50,
11:05the master of that servant will come on a day
11:07when he is not looking for him
11:08and in an hour when he is not aware of.
11:12Wow.
11:13Very important.
11:15And the Bible tells us regarding
11:18those that deny,
11:23those that put off,
11:28the belief and the understanding
11:30that Christ could come.
11:31Look at 2 Timothy chapter 3 verse 1.
11:332 Timothy chapter 3 verse 1 says,
11:35But know this,
11:36that in the last days perilous times will come.
11:41I really believe we're in these days.
11:43I really do.
11:44And the word perilous means
11:45to wear you down.
11:48Like a plane in wood,
11:52just blade whittling down the wood.
11:55For men will be lovers of themselves.
11:58Lovers of money,
11:59boasters,
11:59proud,
12:00blasphemers,
12:00disobedient to parents,
12:02unthankful,
12:03unholy,
12:03unloving,
12:04unforgiving,
12:04slanders without self-control.
12:07Wow.
12:08Brutal,
12:09despisers of good.
12:10They hate good.
12:12Traitors,
12:13headstrong,
12:14haughty,
12:15lovers of pleasure
12:16rather than lovers of God.
12:17Here's the kick.
12:19Having a form of godliness,
12:22but denying its power
12:24from such people turn away.
12:28They look like believers,
12:30but when you're not looking at them,
12:31that's who they really are.
12:34And then there's a quote.
12:36I don't know if this is up in the...
12:38There it is.
12:38Okay, good.
12:39But one of the paramount teachings
12:40of false prophets
12:41will be that of mocking.
12:43Number one,
12:44the return of Jesus Christ,
12:45both for his church
12:47as well as,
12:47number two,
12:48his second coming
12:49to the nation of Israel
12:50and to the Jewish people.
12:52Listen,
12:52these are the things
12:53we're going to be looking at tonight.
12:54Don't be a mocker.
12:56Well, you know,
12:57I know you go to a church
12:58or you're the pastor
12:59that says,
12:59Jesus is coming back.
13:01I'm not the pastor
13:02that says Jesus is coming back.
13:03The Bible says Jesus is coming back
13:05and I'm repeating
13:06what the Bible says.
13:10There's so many people
13:11that they want to quote the Bible,
13:13but they don't know the Bible.
13:14And then when you quote the Bible,
13:15they think you're wrong.
13:18It's amazing to me.
13:19But men are lovers of themselves.
13:25Remarkable.
13:25So I'm going to show you this.
13:26Get ready.
13:27Here's an umbrella.
13:28I'm going to show you this umbrella.
13:29Hopefully it's going to help for tonight.
13:31The coming of the King.
13:33I want you to think of it tonight
13:34as we go through this study
13:35as a giant umbrella.
13:37And all you need to be concerned about,
13:39no matter who you might be tonight
13:40or wherever you are,
13:41you're watching,
13:42just look at right now
13:44these three categories.
13:46Coming or the coming of the King.
13:48We're talking about Jesus Christ.
13:50There is the first coming of Christ,
13:52which you guys are experts in by now
13:54on Wednesday nights.
13:56And there's the second coming of Christ,
13:58both of them on the outer ends
14:01of our umbrella,
14:02our prophetic umbrella.
14:03And in the middle of those two comings
14:06is the appearing.
14:07We'll call it the appearing of the King.
14:09It's not an official theological coming.
14:12It's an appearing.
14:15Now those words will sometimes
14:16be used interchangeably,
14:18not to worry.
14:19The context dictates
14:20what is a coming
14:21and what is an appearing.
14:24And this is very important, guys.
14:26You understand this.
14:27It's critical that you understand this.
14:29Number one,
14:30let's dive into this.
14:31The coming of the King.
14:32Number one,
14:33let's go to the first coming.
14:35I'm gonna ask you to dive in
14:37and go and let's just go fast.
14:41The King's first coming.
14:44When people talk about
14:45the coming of Jesus Christ,
14:47I want you in this church
14:49to be able to say,
14:52are we talking about
14:53the coming of Christ?
14:54Yes, we are.
14:55Okay, let's be clear.
14:57Which coming are you talking about?
15:00Because it matters where we go
15:02in our Bibles
15:03to explain these things.
15:04It's critical.
15:07Why?
15:08Because if you say,
15:09let's talk about
15:10the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ,
15:13if you don't know
15:16what category,
15:17what column we're talking about,
15:19you are gonna mix scriptures up.
15:21Are you hearing?
15:22And you're gonna quote
15:24or you're gonna think
15:25that there's certain events
15:27applying to a certain column
15:29when they do not.
15:30But it looks like
15:32it's talking about
15:32the return of Christ.
15:34And it may be talking
15:36about the return of Christ,
15:37but you're in the wrong column.
15:42And this is just so vitally important.
15:46So we're looking,
15:47first of all,
15:48the King's first coming.
15:49Galatians chapter four,
15:51verse four tells us,
15:52but when the fullness of time
15:53had come,
15:55God sent forth his son,
15:57born of a woman,
15:59born under the law,
16:01to redeem those
16:03who were under the law
16:04that we might receive
16:05the adoption as sons.
16:06Even though that does seem
16:08to tend to talk about Bethlehem,
16:10it's not Bethlehem.
16:12Jesus was, of course,
16:13born in Bethlehem.
16:14We are talking about him
16:15being born of Mary,
16:16the virgin.
16:18But we're talking about
16:19the mission.
16:20The first coming mission
16:22was to redeem mankind.
16:24And all those
16:25who put their faith in him
16:26are those who are adopted by God.
16:28And you might be here tonight
16:30saying,
16:30well, am I adopted by God?
16:32I don't know.
16:33Are you?
16:34Well, I want to be.
16:36Well, then you are adopted by God.
16:39Well, what about me?
16:41I don't want to be.
16:42You're not adopted by God.
16:44You want to make a big deal about it?
16:46Go sit in the corner
16:46and try to figure that out.
16:48Here's the deal.
16:49If you want him,
16:50it's because he's called out to you.
16:52If you don't want him,
16:53it's because he knew
16:54that when he called out to you,
16:56he knew that you would reject him.
16:58So if you want him,
17:00grab him.
17:01Take him.
17:03But if you don't want him,
17:04that's on you.
17:05He died on the cross
17:07for your sins anyway.
17:08But check this out.
17:10I'm calling this
17:11the advent of the promised
17:12new covenant.
17:14Look at Jeremiah 31.
17:16The first coming of Jesus Christ
17:17is all about
17:18the fulfillment of this.
17:20And by the way,
17:21this will continue to be fulfilled
17:24until Christ comes
17:26in the second coming.
17:27But we're talking
17:27of the first coming right now.
17:28Behold,
17:29the days are coming,
17:29says the Lord,
17:30when I will make a new covenant.
17:32I love saying that like that
17:33because I'm reading
17:34the Old Testament.
17:36All of our Jewish friends say,
17:38we don't read the new covenant.
17:39You guys do that.
17:40You're Christians.
17:41Yeah, well,
17:42guess where we got the idea from?
17:44Jeremiah 31.
17:46With the house of Israel
17:47and with the house of Judah.
17:50Not according to the covenant
17:51that I made with their fathers
17:52in the day that I took them
17:53by the hand
17:54and led them out
17:55of the land of Egypt.
17:56He's talking about
17:56the Ten Commandments.
17:57My covenant which they broke,
17:59though I was a husband to them,
18:01says the Lord.
18:02But this is the covenant
18:03that I will make
18:03with the house of Israel
18:04after those days,
18:05says the Lord.
18:06I will put my law
18:07in their minds
18:08and write it on their hearts
18:09and I will be their God
18:10and they shall be my people.
18:12Church family,
18:13listen,
18:14Christ came in the first coming
18:15to institute
18:16and to initiate this.
18:19And then he was rejected
18:20as prophesied in Scripture
18:22and the Jews
18:23who were saved
18:24took the gospel
18:25all the way
18:26to where you're sitting tonight.
18:30When the seven year
18:31tribulation period comes,
18:33God is going to double down
18:34on Israel again
18:35and fulfill this
18:37in totality.
18:40That's what the seven years
18:41are for.
18:43Amazing.
18:44Luke chapter 4,
18:46all this dovetails together.
18:47Luke chapter 4,
18:48verse 16,
18:49Jesus' words are in yellow
18:51on this display.
18:54So he,
18:55that's Jesus,
18:56came to Nazareth
18:58where he had been brought up
18:59and as his custom was,
19:01he went into the synagogue
19:02on the Sabbath day
19:03and stood up to read.
19:05And he was handed
19:06the book of the prophet Isaiah.
19:09And when he had opened the book,
19:11he found the place
19:12where it was written.
19:13Okay, that's amazing
19:14because that's 66 chapters,
19:16but there were no chapter breaks.
19:18There were no verses.
19:24And he turns
19:27to this portion of scripture.
19:30And when he had opened the book,
19:31he found the place
19:32where it was written.
19:32Verse 18,
19:33The Spirit of the Lord
19:34is upon me
19:35because he has anointed me
19:37to preach the gospel
19:38to the poor.
19:39He has sent me
19:39to heal the brokenhearted,
19:40to proclaim liberty
19:41to the captives
19:42and the recovery of sight
19:43to the blind.
19:44All this has to do
19:45with his first coming.
19:46To set at liberty
19:47those who are oppressed,
19:49to proclaim
19:49the acceptable year
19:50of the Lord.
19:51Do you see
19:51why I have those
19:52little parentheses there
19:53around that period?
19:55You want to know
19:56why that's there?
19:56Jesus stopped reading.
19:58He wasn't supposed,
19:58I mean,
19:59he knew exactly
20:00what he was doing.
20:00But it keeps going.
20:03He stops like mid-sentence.
20:05He closes the book.
20:07Look what happens.
20:08Then he closed the book.
20:09That's weird.
20:10He closes the book
20:10and he gave it back
20:11to the attendant
20:11and he sat down.
20:12And the eyes of all
20:14who were in the synagogue
20:15were fixed on him
20:16and he began to say to them,
20:17Today,
20:18this scripture is fulfilled
20:19in your hearing.
20:20Why?
20:20It's his first coming.
20:22That was his first coming.
20:24And here's what's amazing.
20:25He stopped at that period
20:26that you have
20:27in your Bible right there.
20:28If he would have kept reading
20:29his next line
20:31would have been
20:31and to bring
20:32the vengeance
20:33of almighty God.
20:36He stopped.
20:37He didn't keep reading.
20:38Why?
20:39Because the vengeance
20:40of the almighty God
20:42is coming
20:43at the end
20:43of the seven year
20:44tribulation period.
20:48We've been rescued
20:49by a little period
20:50right there.
20:52Amazing.
20:54There's more.
20:56Look at Malachi
20:57chapter three,
20:58verse one.
20:58Kind of the same thing.
21:01Behold,
21:02I send my messenger
21:03and he will prepare
21:04the way before me
21:05and the Lord
21:06whom you seek
21:07will suddenly
21:09come to his temple.
21:10You've read that
21:11in the New Testament,
21:12haven't you?
21:12Even the messenger
21:14of the covenant
21:15and you now know
21:16what that is.
21:18Whom you delight,
21:18behold,
21:19he is coming
21:19says the Lord of hosts.
21:22You know what?
21:22If I would have kept reading
21:23in Malachi three,
21:25verse two,
21:26if I get through my notes,
21:28you'll see
21:28that would have been
21:29a lot of trouble
21:30because verse two
21:32tells you
21:32that he will bring
21:34vengeance and judgment
21:35upon the nations.
21:36He stops.
21:38God's promises.
21:40Matthew chapter 21.
21:45You guys okay?

21:49a wave of verses
21:50after another
21:51but at least
21:52it's Bible verses
21:53rather than recipes
21:54and potluck instructions.

22:17and if anyone
22:18says anything
22:18to you,

22:20this is the code word,
22:21the Lord has need of them
22:22and immediately
22:24he will send them.
22:25All this was done
22:26that it might be fulfilled
22:27which is spoken
22:28by the prophet
22:29saying,
22:29tell the daughter
22:30of Zion,
22:31behold,
22:32your king is coming
22:33to you lowly
22:33and sitting
22:34on a colt,
22:36a donkey,
22:37a colt,
22:37the foal
22:38of a donkey.
22:38You guys,
22:39that's New Testament
22:40quoting Old Testament
22:41to confirm
22:41this was his first coming.
22:43So,
22:45when somebody says,
22:46let's talk about
22:46the coming of Christ,
22:48which one?
22:49First coming
22:50or the second coming?
22:53Because listen,
22:54everything that was
22:55prophesied in the Bible
22:56about his first coming,
22:58he fulfilled it.
23:00Hang on,
23:01because I love
23:01saying what I'm about
23:02to say.

23:09Every prophecy
23:11in the Old Testament
23:13that was written
23:15about his first coming
23:17before Jesus died

23:20he fulfilled them.

24:15to figure that out.
24:17You need to trust
24:18Christ tonight.
24:20You need to believe
24:21and follow him now.
24:24Amazing.
24:26So I'm going to show
24:27you the umbrella again.
24:29Things regarding
24:30the first coming.
24:31We just touched
24:32on that.
24:32Those are things
24:33that you can study
24:35deeper.
24:35That was the first coming.
24:37And then the second
24:38thing is
24:40the appearing.
24:41We're going

26:52no such warnings,

26:54prerequisites,
26:56none.

27:03of suddenness,
27:04eminency,
27:05it is solely
27:07confined
27:08to the church
27:10age
27:11of believers.
