00:00Shine on hoops at my New York Knicks. Our very own post sports host Dexter Henry sat down for a
00:09world exclusive with Meadoworld Peace on his love for his hometown team. What would it mean to you
00:16and have you thought about if this team wins a championship what would that mean to Meadoworld
00:20Peace to see the Knicks win a championship celebrate down the canyon heroes? It's going to
00:24mean just as much to me as every other New Yorker you know we want to see it and I
00:32just can't wait
00:32I can't wait to wear that New York Knicks shirt that says champion I can't wait to wear the hat
00:40I can't wait to get the shorts I can't wait to get the hoodie I don't care I can't wait
00:45to go to a
00:46restaurant and talk to another New Yorker about it I mean you know I'm just I'm just excited I know
00:51they got a job to do but I'm excited to see that when it says and you're new champions.
01:01I'm obsessed with that conversation with Meadoworld Peace and with our guy Dexter Henry I absolutely
01:07love that and I want to stress this there is not a New York Knicks fan who is satisfied just
01:18making
01:18the NBA Finals there is not a Knicks fan alive who looks at this as we're now playing with House's
01:26money the New York Knicks are in it to win it the expectation is to win a championship the New
01:33York
01:34Knicks at the end of the day are playing better than any team entering the NBA Finals in the history
01:41of basketball when you look at their point per game differential it's the best of all time they're
01:50on an 11 game winning streak in the playoffs point per game differential in the playoffs heading into
01:55the finals is now number one who was previously number one and who drops to number two the 2017
02:02Steph Curry Kevin Durant Golden State Warriors who was number two drops down to number three
02:07the 2001 Shaquille O'Neal Kobe Bryant Lakers honestly I am obsessed and this is the point where I think
02:20people need to realize this is not a fluke I don't want to hear well this is a house is
02:26money NBA Finals
02:27I turn 49 next month I've never seen a championship Ron Artest has never seen a championship anyone of a
02:38certain age in New York who didn't see Clyde Frazier play I was born four years after 73 it's our
02:45time to
02:46shine and this is not a pipe dream I picked the Knicks before the season I picked the Knicks before
02:52the
02:52playoffs we have an opportunity to reset a take I picked them to make the finals that was expected
02:57but because of the way Carl Anthony Towns is playing because of the way Mikel Bridges is playing
03:02because of the way OJ Danobi is playing the expectation is that the Knicks win a championship
03:07whether or not it's the Spurs whether or not it's OKC the Knicks are capable you watch the game last
03:14night and you say the Knicks can absolutely the way they're playing now not the Knicks in January
03:21that doesn't even matter the New York Knicks right now are playing in a legendary clip the believability is at
03:28an all-time high
03:29Jalen Brunson is the straw that serves the drink he is just like Mark Messier or Derek Jeter in big
03:37time spots and that's why you
03:40believe in the absolute domination of this team and why they are going to win a championship for the first
03:46time
03:47in my lifetime so that's one narrative I want to make sure when people say oh the Knicks are just
03:53happy to be
03:54here no not even close you saw Carl Anthony Towns and Jalen Brunson after they made the finals they were
04:01stoic
04:02they didn't have any kind of jubilation or smiles or pouring champagne they want four more wins
04:09that's they're looking for that is a big deal without question when you look at it here from
04:15the standpoint of what's going on with the Knicks that's the entire point that's the entire premise
04:22not to mention at the end of the day when you take a look at this narrative that the Knicks
04:29just took
04:30advantage of an easy Eastern Conference that's that's a garbage take and I want to make sure
04:36we're clear right I firmly think this Eastern Conference was weird and weak and wild and wacky
04:45and I've said as much and sometimes when you're all said when it's all said and done I think that
04:51you analyze it and you look at it and you say to yourself all right you beat the teams that
04:56are in
04:57front of you and sometimes you get to a different level and you just get absolutely smacked in the
05:02face but you can't play that card with the way the Knicks are playing right now you can't do that
05:09where this was always why I would rant consistently on Towns on Bridges when they weren't playing to the
05:17level of domination this is who they are this is what they're capable of Carl Anthony Towns one of the
05:25best
05:25and chips in Villanova was a phenomenal player in Phoenix phenomenal player in Brooklyn this is why
05:31you say F them picks OG Anobi this is who he is this is what he does Jalen Brunson is
05:37special
05:37I mean other than Landry Shaman there's no one on the Knicks who's overachieving they are achieving
05:44what was expected this is not a flash in the pan kind of run it's an 11 game act of
05:51domination
05:52that's why you have to take the the weak Eastern Conference argument and I acknowledge relatively
05:58speaking it was but it's not part of the equation on how the Knicks are playing and why they can
06:05win
06:06a championship that at the end of the day you have to strike that from the record you have to
06:13strike
06:13that from the record not to mention the Celtics didn't live up to their end of the bargain Pistons
06:19didn't live up to their end of the bargain a lot of smart basketball people picked Cleveland to beat
06:25the Knicks I mean they just swept the Cavs highest payroll in the league they just swept Philadelphia
06:33they just were able to take care of business down 2-1 to the Atlanta Hawks
06:37so of course they could win a championship
06:42one analyst who was an eye on Knicks star Jalen Brunson a couple of years ago
06:45still sticking to her guns today take a listen to what Becky Hammond had to say about the Knicks
06:50captain a couple years ago
06:52and the last time Becky Hammond that you were on our show and we were talking about the New York
06:56Knicks
06:56you said pretty emphatically right that Jalen Brunson is not a 1A
07:01do you still believe that first of all we were talking in a championship culture
07:06you're taking a little bit of grief from what you said about Jalen Brunson
07:08you are I'm not big enough
07:09I never say
07:10I speak from experience and I never you know Allen Iverson got MVP and he lost in the finals
07:18and I think the two best teams are probably in the west
07:22but I'm up for being proven wrong
07:25and that's the other thing is I think Jalen Brunson's a hell of a player
07:28a hell of a player
07:30I'm speaking historically on the NBA
07:34with what I said
07:35I don't know why that's being brought
07:36like why everybody's so stuck on that
07:37I said it two years ago
07:38I stand by it
07:39I'm glad you cleared the air
07:41there's no air to be cleared
07:42I said what I said
07:44he proves me wrong
07:45he proves me wrong
07:45I mean good for him
07:47but I do think the two best teams are in the west
07:52we know who you like right
07:53oh well you know who I'm cheering for
07:57yeah well listen
07:58Becky obviously was with the San Antonio Spurs for a long time
08:02and you know I have great love and appreciation and respect for Becky Hammond
08:06a phenomenal coach in the WNBA
08:08long time assistant for pop in the San Antonio Spurs
08:12and that's what Becky Hammond said with Malika Andrews on ESPN and Richard Jefferson
08:16a few years ago
08:18Jalen Brunson too small to win a championship
08:20and you know obviously she's doing media availability
08:24coaching out in Las Vegas
08:25and you know she doubled down on it said she's not wrong yet
08:29I mean in theory she's not wrong yet
08:32because the Knicks haven't won a championship
08:34as if Jalen Brunson needed any more in terms of motivation
08:39he gets it from Becky Hammond
08:41who I want to stress I think is fantastic
08:44and I will continue to say this could be Becky Hammond
08:48it could be Colin Cowherd
08:50it could be any media elite
08:52it could be any Twitter tough guy
08:54could be any social media warrior
08:56it could be anyone who remembered
08:58that they hate the Knicks
08:59and that hasn't been a feeling nationwide for a long time
09:02because the Knicks were so cartoonish
09:04and had so much buffoonery
09:05and were irrelevant for so long
09:07I mean what's wrong with you people
09:10seriously
09:11how could you look at the Jalen Brunson led Knicks
09:14and say this team can't win with Jalen Brunson
09:18as the alpha dog
09:19I mean what are we doing here
09:22and Becky Hammond never has struck me
09:24as a look at me attention seeker
09:27but that's what this take reeks of
09:29like a desperate young talk show host
09:32trying to get clicks
09:33I mean what does that even mean
09:35Jalen Brunson has played out of his mind
09:38Jalen Brunson has played out of his mind
09:40since it excites him
09:41specifically this postseason
09:43better, tougher, more clutch
09:46than ever before
09:47which speaks volumes
09:49considering he's done that his entire life
09:52going back to Villanova
09:53when he's won championships
09:54so look
09:56of course you can win
09:58I've said this consistently
10:00with Brunson as the alpha dog
10:03and anyone who's thinking otherwise
10:04I just think that you're trying to say
10:07hey look at me
10:09I didn't think that Becky Hammond
10:11was going to go all skip Bayless on us
10:13but here we are
10:15and Jalen Brunson will use
10:16any kind of motivation he can
10:19to continue to dangle that carrot
10:21more fuel to the fire
10:23on why the Knicks are absolutely
10:25going to be able to win a championship
10:27so
10:28let's get it to the Jalen Brunson
10:31so
10:31You
