01:26We got the no-hitter on Monday and I didn't realize this, that the Astros, since they became
01:36a Major League Baseball team in 1962, they have the most no-hitters of any franchise,
01:43including the postseason.
01:44Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:45By a pretty wide margin.
01:46They have 18 total since 1962.
01:51The next closest is the Dodgers with 13.
01:55The Dodgers had a lot of good pitchers over that time.
01:57But the Astros have 18 no-hitters and they've been largely, in no small part, fueled by the
02:03Golden Era and the remnants of the Golden Era that we exist in now.
02:07Seven of the no-hitters have come in the last eight seasons.
02:11They had a couple of them at the end in 2019.
02:14They had a couple of them in 2022, including the World Series.
02:18And then one in 23, 24, and then the one three nights ago.
02:22So, I did the, I just want to take a trip down memory lane with the no-hitter, Seth, since
02:27we haven't had a ton to celebrate this year.
02:29We can go back in time and relive the no-hitters of days gone by.
02:33I have power-ranked the seven no-hitters that the Astros have thrown in the last eight seasons.

02:41Okay, let's see if we remember all these.
02:43Number seven is actually the one that's the longest ago.
02:47August 3rd, 2019, Aaron Sanchez, who they picked up at the trade deadline, made his Astros
02:53debut and they beat the Mariners 9-0.
02:55He combined with Will Harris, Chris Davinsky, and Joe Biagini.
03:02Joe Biagini, that's right.
03:04That is why this one is in last place among the seven no-hitters.

03:11Yes, I can't get excited about anything involving Biagini.

03:43Miraculously, he didn't give up a hit in however long they used him because that guy gave up a lot

03:54Frambois Valdez had a complete game no-hitter in 2023.
03:58August 1st, 2023.
04:00Beat the Guardians 2-0.
04:01Nothing.
04:02So this is one of those no-hitters that if you're going deep into the game, you put a guy
04:05on base with a walk.
04:07Not only might you lose the no-hitter, you could lose your win in the game, too.
04:10It's a close game.
04:12So I don't remember much about that one except it was at home and it was in 2023 when they
04:17were in kind of a dogfight for the division that year with the Mariners.
04:22So I know it's the only no-hitter by a lefty in team history for Ember Valdez.
04:26So that one's number six for me.
04:28That's a good little nugget to know.
04:29So that'll come up on an Astros broadcast at some point.

05:14Blanco was the only good pitcher on the squad.
05:17He was the saving grace.

05:18And it wasn't just that he was the only good pitcher on the squad.
05:20He was also out there dealing no-hitters.

05:23That was back before we realized that we were going to be on a three-year journey of getting
05:27off to incredibly slow starts.

05:46He would be the only good thing for like the first month and a half of the season with

05:55I got in a little bit of a wormhole.
05:56Blanco should have made the all-star team that year.
05:58He ended up winning 13 games in the ERA under three.
06:01Their five top starters that season, in terms of just number of starts, were Frambois Valdez,
06:09Renel Blanco, Hunter Brown, Spencer Arrighetti, and Justin Verlander.
06:14And I started thinking, if you got the best version of those five guys, holy smokes, that's
06:20a good five, but they just were.
06:22Verlander was beat up at that point.
06:24He was old.
06:25Arrighetti was new.
06:27Blanco was still a noob, but he was good.
06:29Well, and Arrighetti wasn't good until midway through the year.
06:32And even then, he was still kind of inconsistent.
06:33Yeah, he was very inconsistent.
06:35Hunter was horrible for a month and a half, and then amazing for the rest of the year.
06:40Alex Bregman told him to start throwing his sinker.

09:29A nice big summer middle finger to the Yankees, who, going into that game, were 52-19.

09:38They were on pace to break the season win total.
09:42It was the greatest team in the history of baseball.

09:46And, damn it, they weren't getting enough credit for how good they were.

09:51And then the Astros just kind of basically slapped them down to earth.

11:30And, you know, Astros fans were trying to, you know, not be too, you know, don't take
11:34anything for granted, but it was just, it was night and day, the difference in the pitching

11:44What I'll remember, and by the way, it was Javier combined with Brian Abreu, Rafael Montero,
11:49and Ryan Presley.
11:50So, Javier pitched, you know, the first five or six innings.
11:53Those guys finished things out for the Astros.
11:56The other two things I'll remember about that, it was either game three or game four after
12:00one of them, probably game three, because the Phillies won that game and Philly fans
12:04were probably feeling a certain kind of way.
12:06But that was the one where Mattress Mac almost got into a fight with Philly fans.
12:10He was up at the game, and Mattress Mac is dog-cussing these Philly fans who are cussing
12:15at him.
12:16The other thing that I, about this particular game, oh, what was the other thing?
