00:00We need to make sure that we're providing security for people in the here and now
00:04and for the long term, and I think that's a really big part of our pitch.
00:07That's why last week, in the middle of this crisis that we're seeing
00:11because of the war in Iran, a war, by the way, which we didn't start,
00:14and we're trying to minimise our involvement in
00:16and trying to bring to a resolution diplomatically with allies,
00:20we have seen, and people up and down the country will have seen,
00:22the cost of filling up the tank increase.
00:25That's why we froze fuel duty.
00:27We've extended the freeze to the end of the year.
00:30We've also increased the mileage rates for people who drive for work from 45 to 55p.
00:34That is the biggest single increase in the history of that policy,
00:39the first time it's gone up since 2011.
00:41So we're taking steps to help people in the here and now,
00:43and then we've got to make sure we build our security for the long term.
00:47That's about reforming our economy so it can grow and businesses can invest,
00:51improving our relationship with the EU,
00:53and making sure we can get ourselves off the fossil fuel roller coaster
00:57and have more homegrown, clean power to provide people with cheaper bills for the long term.
01:03that are most targeted every year and that's how we can get started.
