Passengers on IndiGo flight 6E 6017 from Bengaluru to Chennai were safely evacuated at Kempegowda International Airport after smoke was detected during taxiing on 26 May 2026. The Airbus A321, carrying more than 230 people, showed signs of smoke in both the cabin and cockpit, prompting an emergency evacuation using all escape slides. Authorities, including the DGCA, confirmed the aircraft has been grounded for inspection and investigation. Two passengers suffered minor injuries during the evacuation. The airline said safety procedures were followed immediately and an alternative aircraft was arranged to continue the journey for affected travellers.
