A tragic collision between a train and a school minibus in northern Belgium has left four people dead, including two children aged 12 and 15. The crash happened in Buggenhout while the bus was transporting students to a special education school. Authorities said the railway crossing barriers were already lowered when the minibus entered the tracks and was struck by a train travelling at high speed. Five other children remain in hospital in critical but stable condition. Belgian officials, including King Philippe and European leaders, expressed condolences as investigators work to determine exactly how the devastating accident occurred.
