00:00But there is one aspect of yesterday that nobody anywhere with a microphone in front of their mouth has acknowledged,
00:08other than me, of course, that I want to acknowledge.
00:11And it's a small little teeny thing that's got nothing at all to do with how the Knicks dismantled the
00:18Cleveland Cavaliers, a sweep, sir, or how the Knicks dismantled a hated rival, the Sixers, a sweep, sir, or how
00:25the Knicks came back down 2-1 and took care of business against the Atlanta Hawks.
00:29And it's a silly little thing, but it's important to me.
00:33And it's important, I think, to Knicks fans.
00:35So at the end of the game yesterday, when the Knicks get the trophy, the Bob Cousy trophy, for being
00:42the champs of the East, and of course Jalen Brunson gets the Larry Bird trophy for being the MVP of
00:48the Eastern Conference Finals, and a unanimous vote, as it should have been.
00:52Obviously, he's the glue that keeps all this together, right?
00:55I thought it was very interesting.
00:57And I thought it was very classy and the right thing.
01:02And no one has mentioned it yet.
01:04But how many times have we seen celebrations like that, when a team finally gets over the hump, and they're
01:11going to a Super Bowl, an NBA Final, a World Series, etc.
01:14And on the dais, where they're presenting the trophy, is the owner and the GM slash president.
01:22We see it all the time, right?
01:24You didn't see it yesterday.
01:25And I thought that was such a classy and important move that both James Dolan and Leon Rose, the guy
01:34that writes the check, and the architect of this franchise, neither one of them stole the moment or took the
01:42moment for themselves.
01:43They let the players who earned it, and Mike Brown, who let's not forget, the embattled coach three months in
01:50to his first year as a Nick Cat coach, they both stood in the background.
01:54I saw Leon Rose crying while hugging his son who was sitting next to him in the stands after the
02:01game.
02:01Obviously, I saw Jim Dolan at the game as well in his blue jacket and orange shirt, which is now
02:06his game day attire.
02:08But neither one of them got up on the podium.
02:12Neither one of them accepted the trophy.
02:15Neither one of them said a word.
02:16They allowed the players their moment, and they allowed Mike Brown his moment.
02:21And I thought that was classy, and someone should acknowledge it.
