02:33où ils broadcastaient quelque chose,
02:34un moment d'un moment d'un moment d'un moment
02:36d'un moment d'un moment d'un moment.
02:37I pray before my matches
02:39et we usually do it in the gym
02:40et ils n'ont jamais broadcasté ça.
02:43Je suis sûre que j'ai été crying
02:44dans la gym before
02:45et ils n'ont jamais broadcasté ça.
02:46Donc, je ne sais pas,
02:47je ne sais pas,
02:48je ne sais pas,
02:49mais si je fais ça,
02:50ils vont se montrer.
02:51Mais, non,
02:52je pense que Rolling Girls,
02:53d'un moment d'un moment,
02:54d'un moment d'un moment d'un moment d'un moment
02:56et je sais que parfois
02:57ils ont leur propre person
02:59et ils ont l'option
03:01d'un moment d'un moment
03:02d'un moment d'un moment
03:03d'un moment d'un moment
03:04et ils ont l'option
03:05et ils ont l'option
03:06et ils ont l'option
03:08en question.
03:08Hey Coco,
03:09je suis un story de la haire
03:10et je suis en question
03:11si vous mindre
03:12de savoir si c'est important
03:12pour que tu es
03:14ou si c'est important
03:15à vous
03:15de avoir vos hair
03:16en un certain style
03:17comme je pense que
03:18l'athletes souvent
03:19qu'il faut se faire
03:20et comme ça
03:22pour le convenieux
03:23de ce que je dis
03:24beaucoup beaucoup
03:25et je pense que
03:27si tu fais vos hair
03:28sur les routes
03:29parce que ça s'est bien
03:31difficile
03:32de trouver des pays
03:33aussi
03:33Yeah, honestly, yeah, having black hair and thick hair like me is not the easiest,
03:40but it's definitely something that I do try to plan around and try to,
03:44not every tournament, but the slams, try to match the vibe to my outfit.
03:47Like the, what did I do in Australia?
03:50Red, whatever hair I did was very intentional.
03:54And yeah, I got my hair done in here, in Paris.
03:56Luckily, Paris is a very diverse city, so it's not really hard to find someone,
04:01but it is a difficult thing on the road.
04:03Some cities, you know, you're just not going to probably find someone who can do it.
04:07So you kind of, I don't know, I plan my styles around like when I know the next stop is
04:12going to be,
04:13and it's things like people don't, like my mom, that people don't realize like the night before we're up,
04:18on my only day off, like taking out my braids up to 1 a.m., taking out my braids,
04:22and then having to go the next day and sit in the chair for eight hours to get your braids
04:25done again.
04:26But I think it looks good, so I keep doing it.
04:29And I've said this before, I pride myself in just showcasing different black hair on tour,
04:35just so that almost every girl can feel represented.
04:39So yeah, the Williams sisters did that for me, so I try to do that for someone else.
04:44No, I actually thought about getting that.
04:46I'll probably do that for US Open.
04:47But no, this is like a, I have micro, it's like the Zoe Kravitz braids.
04:50I have micros up front, and then like a sew-in in the back.
04:55Mm-hmm.
04:56Hi, Coco.
04:56Congratulations.
04:57I'm trying to understand the movement of sliding.
05:00I wondered if you could speak as an American where hardcore is the traditional surface,
05:06how, what it was like for you, like learning to slide when you grow up,
05:10adding the caveat that you won the Orange Bowl under 12 as well on clay.
05:13Yeah, so I've been growing up going to Europe at training at Patrick Morata's Academy since I was 10.
05:21So that was my, when I was 10 was my first experience on red clay.
05:24And I think because of those experiences going every year and them teaching me how to slide,
05:29it just felt very natural.
05:30So I definitely think I had a growing up upbringing different to most American players.
05:34And then, yeah, at Orange Bowl, it was green clay.
05:38And at that point, I, yeah, was going to Patrick's a lot.
05:42So I was used to playing on red clay.
05:44Honestly, green clay was not something I did well on often.
05:47But, yeah, I think for me, it was just growing up and it never felt like a thing like most
05:53Americans.
05:54I feel like it was just natural.
05:56Hi, Coco.
05:57Okay, well done.
05:58Also, I guess a bit with your background and where you grew up and stuff,
06:01you seem to thrive in hot conditions.
06:04Just wondering, A, if it does, if it is as it seems and you do kind of enjoy playing in
06:09the heat
06:10and also the extent to which you're kind of like, yeah, bring it on, keep it this hot
06:14because other players seem to be really struggling and you seem kind of fine with it.
06:17Yeah, honestly, it's funny.
06:20Yeah, when I saw it was going to be hot, I definitely think it's something that I do well in
06:24and can thrive in a bit because of growing up in Florida.
06:28And I know some people try to practice early, but I try to sometimes practice in the prime of the
06:32day,
06:33even if it's shorter, just to get used because you never know.
06:36I think that it may be the issue why a lot of players are struggling.
06:39Because, honestly, Miami Open is pretty hot.
06:40But I think some people are struggling just because we spent the whole European swing
06:44not really playing in hot conditions.
06:46And then all of a sudden, it's like ultra hot.
06:47So I feel like most people's bodies just are in a shockwave right now because it gets pretty hot.
06:53It's open, too, and I feel like you don't see it as much.
06:55So I think that's part of the reason.
06:57And, yeah, also, I don't know, Europe, y'all don't like AC.
07:02So I feel like I'm constantly trying to, like, even at restaurants everywhere, I'm, like, sweating.
07:06I'm taking, like, four showers a day.
07:08Like, I took a shower before this.
07:10I'm going to have to take another one after.
07:11So I feel like the problem is we can't escape the heat here.
07:14And even, like, the coolers on court, the drinks don't get cold.
07:18So I think I'm going to have to request more ice for the next match.
07:23Hi, Coco.
07:23Just to follow up on Tamanie's question about the cameras.
07:26I was at a non-tennis event a couple weeks ago, and they have, in their backstage area,
07:30they have, like, the carpet changes color if you're in an area that has cameras in it
07:34or doesn't have cameras.
07:35There's, like, an area where the competitors know that they're not on camera.
07:38And do you think something to be clear about that or clear communications would help in tennis
07:43to sort of make those sorts of moments happen?
07:46So there's better communication, understanding, clarity, whatever it may be.
07:50Yeah, I mean, that would be pretty cool.
07:52I think also the issue was, well, specifically, Australia is, like,
07:56almost all the private areas outside the locker room are recorded,
07:59so you don't really have anywhere to go.
08:02And some of the cameras do look like security cameras.
08:05They don't necessarily look like broadcast cameras.
08:07Here at Rolling Girls, I noticed in the gym they have, like, a sign that says, like, video on here.
08:12But I'm told, I was told at Australian Open that they have control on what they broadcast
08:17and don't broadcast, I thought, and then it turns out they didn't.
08:20So I don't know what happened with that.
08:21But I definitely think, like, having a sign or even the cameras having, like, a little light
08:25when it's, like, red or a red light or something that when you're potentially being broadcast,
08:30it could be something different.
08:32Because, you know, as authentic as I try to be, not every moment you want put out to the world.
08:37But I'm glad it started a conversation.
08:40But I don't know.
08:41I thought some people sent me messages thinking I was, like, upset that everyone saw me break a racket.
08:46But I'm like, guys do it, like, every two days.
08:48So I'm okay.
08:53Coco, just on the match, early on in the match, obviously, once Taylor gets that lead,
08:57it's a very easy point where people might think defending champion, you fall behind,
09:03the pressure, the panic, all this sort of stuff.
09:06So I'm curious, those first four games, what was going on in your mind to kind of allow yourself to
09:10settle?
09:11And the second question is just looking ahead and playing Maia, how well you know her
09:14and what you anticipate in that match.
09:17Yeah.
09:18I mean, I had thoughts.
09:19I'm like, oh, what if I lose and stuff?
09:21But honestly, I kind of remember that tennis is two out of three sets.
09:25And I think Rome taught me a lot about my ability to do well in those, you know,
09:29after losing the first set and stuff.
09:31But I don't know.
09:31I felt like Taylor came out playing, like, really great tennis.
09:35And I just felt like if she continues to play like this and she wins a match like this
09:39and she deserves to win and I can walk away and be like, I just wasn't good enough today.
09:43So I didn't allow myself mentally, I think, today to get to that point where I feel like in the
09:48past I would.
09:48And then as far as my next round, I feel like I played her in Cincinnati three years ago, something
09:55like that.
09:57So it's been a while.
09:59But I know she's a fighter.
10:01I feel like she plays a lot of long matches.
10:04So we might have a long one.
10:05I don't know.
10:06But I know I honestly haven't.
10:09Yeah, we haven't played each other in so long.
10:10So I have to rewatch and to know more about, like, her game and stuff.
10:13But I've seen her play quite a few times.
10:17Hi, Coco.
10:18Todd Pector from Florida Tennis Magazine, also from Delray.
10:20And I've got to tell you, just sitting in the stands, it was tough.
10:23Yeah.
10:24But congratulations.
10:26You had mentioned also in the after-match interview on court that this is the first time you played Taylor.
10:33Do you practice with her at all?
10:34I know you're both from the Florida area.
10:36Do you hit with her at all?
10:38We practiced, I think, like, two years ago in Madrid a couple times because we were playing doubles together.
10:44But honestly, I think she lives more in Atlanta now.
10:47So when we're off, I don't get really good to practice with her.
10:50And also, I think it does.
10:52I feel like being a lefty on tour, it's not often that I need to hit with a lefty.
10:56But, yeah, we just never really, like, haven't really played each other, which is kind of crazy.
11:02I did play her, like, in ITF, I think, in Charlottesville or something.
11:08That was, like, our first pro match.
11:09But this was our first match, like, on tour playing each other.
11:12I think it was our first match, like, on tour playing each other.
11:14I think it was our first match, like, on tour playing each other.
11:15I think it was our first match.
11:15I think it was our first match.
11:15I think it was our first match.
