00:00An incredible story of a dog outside of a fire station is going viral.

00:08Your Cup of Joy today is about a Texas-based fire station,
00:13Fort Worth Fire Department Station 8 to be specific,
00:17who found a dog tied up outside of their station.
00:22Now, along with the dog was a handwritten letter asking for help.
00:27A disabled veteran had tied up his dog, Jake,
00:32and he said it was the hardest choice he ever had to make.
00:36He had been homeless for just under two years,
00:40and the homeless veteran, only known as Tom, said this was not easy,
00:46but he wanted to leave him in a safe place.
00:50And the lieutenant of the fire station said,
00:52well, he left him in a safe place, that's for sure, right?
00:55And it's hard as a dog owner, and we all love dogs,
00:58and Shannon, I know you and your whole family immersed into dog rescue.
01:03Yeah, and you see a lot of them come back to the shelter.
01:07Right.
01:08And it's very sad.
01:09It really, really is sad.
01:10So the story starts spreading online,
01:12and the department's HOPE team began to work with the disabled veteran, Tom,
01:17to rebuild his life and go seek him out and help him out.
01:23What's incredible is Bennett's Camping Center is donating an RV camper for Tom to live in,
01:31while firefighters assisted with transportation to medical appointments,
01:35meetings, and setting up the camper in a safe location.
01:38That's so cool.
01:39Yeah.
01:40The department says Tom has been overwhelmed with the kindness,
01:42and here's the best part of the whole story.
01:44Well, where's Jake?
01:46Yeah.
01:47Where's the dog?
01:48Ruff, ruff.
01:48The dog has officially been adopted by firefighters at Station 8
01:52and now lives at the firehouse.
01:55Firefighters say the dog has settled in very quickly,
01:58spending time with the crew and greeting all the firefighters when they return from calls,
02:02and in a social media update, they said both Tom and Jake's lives have been changed for the better
02:07by the events that followed that letter at their station.

02:12He has, like, multiple owners, and they're all friends.

02:16And all of those firefighters have a good boy hanging around the fire station.
