00:09A good day
00:42Before, they entered the water to pull oyster, because when you look at the mango-mango,
00:48the oyster is cold, so there is no need to enter the water to pull oyster.
00:54Because if the mango-mango, you just chop, chop, chop, it will flop, it will go.
00:57But now, in order again, just like I look at the river, in order to enter the water before
01:04we get oyster for Kegu.
01:22All the mangoes were caught, because people are wanting to migrate, and
01:27on planned urbanization, there was no land availability, and people were now looking
01:31for, searching for land, trying to reclaim land around the coastal area, in a particular
01:36community, and they caught all the mangroves.
01:39So now that they are living there, we are now faced a challenge with coastal erosion, flooding,
01:50and a lot of heat wave threats that we are facing, and lots of biodiversity.
01:54we are facing.
02:30Today we're here putting up oyster racks and bamboo rafts.
02:35So we're trying to bring an alternative sustainable livelihood to coastal community people living
02:40at Kuala Town.
02:42Over the years we've been doing mangroove restoration and conservation and if you can
02:46see at my back here we have a massive mangroove restoration that is going on.
02:59It is important to note that if we don't protect our mangroves millions of coastal residents
03:04around the world including Kuala Town are at risk of not having sustainable livelihood.
03:09So as such with this oyster farm they will be able to generate money to support their different
03:13households and also boost the food security system of this particular country.
