00:00Did you know that the world's largest Muslim cemetery is underwater?
00:05Yes, yes, you heard it right, an entire culture, thousands of graves and centuries old Muslim history in the depths of a district.
00:13is buried
00:14And the surprising thing is that this place was kept hidden for centuries.
00:18Today I will take you to the Azim Lake of Kyrgyzstan, inside this very Kol.
00:24Where beneath the surface lies an entire city and a graveyard that is still difficult to understand.
00:29This is the story of the submerged Muslim culture.
00:33Located in the mountains of South Asia, Satya is 1600 meters above sea level.
00:38This Kol Lake is the seventh largest lake in the world.
00:41Its name comes from the Turkic language, meaning hot lake.
00:45It is so deep that sunlight has not reached its bottom till date.
00:50But this district is not only famous for its natural beauty.
00:53There's a whole world living underwater here.
00:56You won't believe it, but in the 19th century, when Russian experts surveyed the depths of this district
01:02So they found traces of ancient buildings, walls and towers under water.
01:07But this was just the beginning
01:09In the 1980s, experts from the Girgistan Academy of Sciences conducted a detailed investigation of the Zahil using modern instruments.
01:17taken
01:17What did they get?
01:18An entire city, walls, streets, traces of a large mosque
01:24And the most surprising thing is thousands of graves.
01:27This cemetery still exists underwater.
01:30There are Gurani verses written in Arabic on the gravestones.
01:33According to experts, these tombs date from the 17th to 14th centuries AD.
01:38But the question is how did this entire city and graveyard go under water?
01:43And why was it kept hidden for so many centuries?
01:46According to the chronicles, this district was once a valley.
01:49A lush valley where a Turkish Islamic culture was flourishing
01:54Its name was Armu
01:56This city was situated on the Silk Road where caravans rested.
02:00Markets were held here, and mosques offered prayers.
02:03And in the graveyard there were the tombs of Auliya Ullah
02:05But then something happened and the entire city disappeared.
02:08According to Mahreen Arjiyat, a massive earthquake shook the mountains.
02:14Suddenly, the waters surrounded the valley.
02:16The city and its people were submerged in water.
02:18Some escaped but most were buried there.
02:21His grave still exists at the bottom of the jail.
02:25Mahreen pulled out several gravestones from underwater.
02:27The writings on them were read
02:29was written on a stone
02:31Haja Kabrul Amir Hasan bin Husain
02:33Rahmatullah Ale
02:35This means it was the tomb of a rich man.
02:37Another stone had a date on it.
02:39Year 745 Hijri
02:41This proves that here
02:43A Munjab Moshra was inhabited
02:45Where people were rich in knowledge, trade and wealth.
02:48But the most surprising thing is that
02:51Only 5 percent of the cemetery has been excavated so far.
02:54The remaining 95 percent is still hidden in the depths of water.
02:59During the Soviet era, this area was under Russian occupation.
03:01This area was declared a secret zone.
03:04The army was stationed there, and the common people were not allowed to go to the poor places of Jahil.
03:08Mahreen Asare Kadima was also prevented from entering
03:11Why? Because they didn't want the world to know that a great chapter of Islamic culture was buried here.
03:17Or maybe he wanted to keep something else quiet.
03:19Even today, the government of Kyrgyzstan considers this area a protected area.
03:37A 3D map of the district is being prepared.
03:40So far, dozens of new buildings, roads and three new cemeteries have been discovered.
03:45Mahreen thinks this place could be the world's largest graveyard.
03:50And beneath these graves, perhaps Majid Raj is hidden.
03:53Friends, this story teaches us that history is not only hidden in books, it is also hidden under land and water.
03:59It shows how a great culture can disappear overnight.
04:03And also that the ocean of our knowledge is still very vast.
