00:00The following is brought to you by L'Oreal, Maybelline, and Garnier.
00:11Healthy skin starts with proper care, and according to Pure Beauty by Lafayre,
00:16facials play an important role in maintaining skin health.
00:20Facial is really important because it deep cleans, it goes deeper, right?
00:26So you deep clean the pores, you exfoliate, and you basically will moisturize the skin
00:34for different types of skin, right?
00:37So it really actually goes a little deeper because of the different layers within the skin.
00:42So you know we have the epidermis, we have epidermis, and then we have the hypodermis.
00:46And so if you're doing your normal routine at home,
00:50you should really actually go to a professional esthetician, certified esthetician,
00:56or a skin specialist so that they can understand what's going on with your skin,
01:01and therefore they can recommend which is the best skin line or so forth products-wise for your skin.
01:08Remember I mentioned about the epidermis and the dermis.
01:11So the dermis in itself is that second layer that deals with collagen and elastin.
01:19And that, as we age, it becomes, you know, it sags more,
01:25so you get less collagen and less elastin.
01:28So you really and truly want to do a facial and maintain a proper regimen.
01:35And you have some pockets of dryness.
01:39But how often should someone get a facial?
01:42It really and truly depends on what's going on with your skin.
01:46I tend to tell my clients, you know, once a month or three to four weeks.
01:52Depending on the situation, let's say someone has acne,
01:55you may have a series of facials that you need to do where you start to cleanse,
02:01and then some people do peels and stuff like that.
02:04But because you're trying to help a situation, you may come in maybe every two weeks, you know.
02:13Celestin says maintaining healthy skin also starts with a simple skincare routine at home.
02:19If you're wearing makeup, you should get a cleansing balm.
02:22You can get even baby wipes.
02:25I always recommend a toner because it helps to build back the pH balance in your skin.
02:30Before you put on that makeup and stuff, you would cleanse, you would tone, you would moisturize,
02:36and then you would put on definitely some sunblock.
02:40You need to have that level of protection.
02:43She says lifestyle changes are also necessary for better skin.
02:46I can do so much, but it's really and truly about your lifestyle and what you do at home
02:54and what you put into your body, what you eat, how you sleep, the regimen,
03:01not, you know, making sure to drink a lot of water.
03:04Some people tell you they don't drink water, right?
03:07So I always say, what about fruits?
03:09You know, some watermelon and stuff like, you know, or put a cucumber in your water or a lemon in
03:16your water
03:16so you get a little flavor.
03:18Celestin also says there are simple ingredients that people can use at home to make face masks.
03:25Honey, turmeric.
03:26When you have food discoloration, we make turmeric, honey, and lemon.
03:32And I made little ice cubes and I put it on my face.
03:36And then it kind of washed off.
03:37So it was like a kind of mask.
03:39It was refreshing and so forth.
03:40And what skincare tips she would give to people trying to achieve healthy skin without spending too much money?
03:47We have to be really mindful and understand that our body is really and truly temple of God
03:52and we have to take care of it.
03:55And so what you eat, it will come out on your skin.
04:00Sometimes you need to cut out certain things, maybe a three-month window.
04:04So after three months, do a detox, do a cleanse for your body.
04:09Making sure to drink water.
04:11Rest is important.
04:13And smile.
04:15People don't know smiling how.
04:16Because beyond those layers of your skin, there's the muscle.
04:20There's the blood vessels and so forth.
04:23And so a simple smile is going to help the sagging of your skin.
04:31I am Charlotte Kista with tonight's Your Best Self.
