00:01what's up guys I was asked in a video about which package to install for GTK Nutella on Debian
00:11derivatives if I'm not mistaken I tried to install it on Linux Mint and it failed there was some
00:22dependency version mismatch and when I tried to install using dpkg which is a lower level piece
00:32of software it simply installs the package without resolving the dependencies the application doesn't
00:42want to run so I thought of installing GTK Nutella on Debian and for resolving the dependency issue for
00:54Linux Mint I cannot promise that I will do it all right so here is a fresh installation of Debian
01:0413
01:08I have downloaded the version for Debian 12 I believe that it will mostly work but I'm not
01:19sure I am in the downloads folder where the package is here it is so I thought of trying to
01:30install it
01:31and record it for you here we will follow the first method which is using the terminal GTK Nutella make
01:43sure you press tab for the autocompletion after you type the first letters of the package name let's try
02:02okay apt install and then we drag and drop to give a fuller path in case it's possible
02:38yes the error is not any different with Linux Mint so trying to install this package on Debian
02:47Debian 13 this one is for Debian 13 this the package is for Debian 12 and this is Debian 13
02:58fails not any
03:01different with Linux Mint so let's try to install the other version the link for GTK Nutella is this one
03:14I will put it in the description you go here to download like me I am on the download page
03:22and then
03:23you click the latest.deb package from sourceforge whether for Ubuntu or Debian they both take to the
03:30same page which is this one scroll down and then you click this one 1.3.1 and then you
03:39scroll down again
03:42you take the version that matches with your Debian version in my case it's Debian 13 in the meanwhile I
03:54will
03:54install a package that will help with the installation with the GUI method which is
04:01gdeb y and enter here the package of GTK Nutella for Debian 13 is finished downloading as well as the
04:21installation of gdeb is done so let's try to run the command again but for Debian 13 package like this
04:35yes so I was wrong when I thought that using Debian 12 package of GTK Nutella will work on Debian
04:4613 out
04:47of the box you may need to do some work arounds of downgrade in some packages in order to get
04:55the relevant versions of the dependencies here we press Y and enter
05:02okay the installation is done despite having something like an error at the end or a warning
05:12we run the app like this and you can see that it works if we look for Mugen
05:32again again since it's still loading somehow you may find it that's for the first installation method
05:43the second installation method is using gdeb
05:51gdeb open with and select gdeb package installer you'll need to install it using the command apt install
05:59gdeb in case you don't have it installed in case you're using linux mint and you have
06:06applied the workarounds to change the versions of some of the dependencies that mismatch
06:13with GTK Nutella you can use package installer that is pre-installed there click open here
06:22and then you click install package this one it is installed in my case that's why I cannot click it
06:30it should like process the package and install it for us
06:45yes you can see that it works anyway that makes it for this video I'm signing out please don't
