00:00:30I've got four years contract left, but I'm running out of time. I'm running out of time.
00:00:37I have climbed highest mountains. I have run through the fields, only to be with you.
00:00:56I have run, I have crawled, I have scaled these city walls, these city walls.
00:01:09Only to be with you. But I still haven't found what I'm looking for.
00:01:27I've got four years contract left, I have run, I have run, I have run, I have run, I have
00:01:35run.
00:01:39I have run, I have run, I have run, I have run, I have run, I have run.
00:01:45Well I had a funny feeling last year, right? I thought it would be extremely hard last season.
00:01:49I think what happens is, when you buy a couple of players, I think other players just tend to slacken
00:01:54off a little bit.
00:01:56Because with Rude, Sabah, Laurent Blanc, Roy Carroll come in, and people just think,
00:02:02we've got three or four new players, automatically they will maybe do the business, or will help the team.
00:02:08And I said it last year that it would make it even harder for us, and that's what it turned
00:02:12out to be,
00:02:12because we started sluggish. The players obviously were trying, but it was just not enough.
00:02:42It was up to us to, for the team to try and become legends themselves.
00:02:48And I don't think we have done, you know, we've won a few trophies, but we've not really made our
00:02:52mark in Europe.
00:03:05I think for a few years we kind of expected it, so there was no shock there, when he confirmed
00:03:10that he was going to leave.
00:03:11And some players then be thinking, you know what, I've got to prove myself all over again to a new
00:03:15manager.
00:03:15To me that's a great challenge, you know, especially when we were talking about one of the top foreign coaches
00:03:22coming in, you know,
00:03:22maybe Capello, Lippi, Einsfeld from Bayern Munich. To me that was, that would have been a great opportunity to work
00:03:30under a different manager,
00:03:31even though none of us wanted, obviously, Alex Ferguson to leave. But I think he just threw enough doubt into
00:03:36the players' minds, you know.
00:03:37As he said, it's a great opportunity to play.
00:04:00I think that's a great opportunity to play.
00:04:03I think it's a great opportunity to play.
00:04:07Then, two weeks away, he made his debut at Old Trafford.
00:04:10And that's Roy Keane with the tight haircut.
00:04:15And throughout the match, his persistence and courage just phenomenal.
00:04:23And I said, this is a player, you know, even though he annoyed me, you know.
00:04:30McClare!
00:04:33Blackburn had been in touch over the seasons, the desperate to sign, yeah.
00:04:36And basically, there was a lot of speculation, but they were the only club
00:04:39who I was 100% sure wanted to sign me.
00:04:42But, of course, again, they were doing things illegally, whatever you want to say.
00:04:47We thought that Roy was aware of the fact that he'd been phoning for us for years,
00:04:52you know, I think something like two and a half years,
00:04:55regularly trying to buy him.
00:04:56He'd been ringing, of course, but hadn't been given permission to speak to me,
00:04:59because Forrest were pretty keen to sell me to Blackburn
00:05:02because they were obviously giving the most money.
00:05:05And cut long story short, I met Daglish on a Friday evening,
00:05:07and we agreed a contract, to be fair.
00:05:09And I feel like, you know, we shook hands on a contract.
00:05:12And, of course, the talks were the Friday evening,
00:05:14and the club, the offices were closed that weekend,
00:05:17so I said, let's come back on a Monday and sign.
00:05:24And that Sunday I got a phone call from Alex Forreston,
00:05:26and he said, look, I know you've spoke to Blackburn.
00:05:30Can you come to Manchester tomorrow just to speak to me?
00:05:33And I said, well, you know, I've kind of agreed to sign a contract with him.
00:05:35He said, you've not signed it. I mean, I went, no, no.
00:05:37He said, well, just come to Manchester tomorrow and give me a chance.
00:05:39And I got him over at my house one day, and we had a long chat,
00:05:43and he explained that he was shaking hands with Ken Daglish,
00:05:50and that created a problem within, you know, for Roy in a way,
00:05:54because obviously he wanted to join United.
00:05:57We just had to get him a snook in the chat,
00:05:59and he didn't discuss contracts, which I think,
00:06:01he didn't discuss money, which I liked as well.
00:06:03He just spoke about the team, what I could bring to the team,
00:06:07what it would mean for him, for me to sign.
00:06:09And it was so genuine, you know what I mean?
00:06:12I'm not saying Blackburn weren't genuine.
00:06:14I was, you know, I felt bad for Blackburn as well,
00:06:16to be honest with you. I really did.
00:06:19That thing wrestled in Roy's mind,
00:06:22and he phoned Ken Daglish straight away and said, look,
00:06:26you know, if I changed Manchester United to come in,
00:06:29and that was it.
00:06:31No, I don't think he ever forgave me for that, you know.
00:06:33He let me know in certain terms that when I said
00:06:35I was going to go to United.
00:06:37If it happened again tomorrow, you know, to be fair,
00:06:39you give a choice, Blackburn are matches United.
00:06:42Manchester United are pleased to announce
00:06:44that we've finally signed Roy Keane.
00:06:47This morning.
00:06:47And it is an English record transfer fee.
00:07:11I've never been here before.
00:07:15Didn't know where to go.
00:07:17Never met you before.
00:07:20Getting in that team was a big challenge.
00:07:21It's a big challenge to me.
00:07:22I walked out, you know, when I got to the club.
00:07:24And I was lucky when I came to the club to go.
00:07:27United lads then.
00:07:29Best lads you've ever liked to meet.
00:07:30And they're still there.
00:07:31I mean that, you know, obviously.
00:07:33You have your fallouts with different players over the years,
00:07:35but great lads, great teammates to have.
00:07:38And that's what you want.
00:07:38You go on that pitch, you die for each other.
00:07:42And that team had it.
00:07:42You can do all the things that you like to do.
00:07:53All around, upside down, pick apart.
00:07:58That's new.
00:08:02People are drinking on the island.
00:08:06Press the buttons on the phone.
00:08:19When we were trying to buy Roy Keane,
00:08:21we were always looking for the new Brian Robson.
00:08:24And he was the new Brian Robson.
00:08:26There's no question in my mind.
00:08:30He's a tremendous player.
00:08:32He's got all different attributes.
00:08:35He's pretty good at most things
00:08:37that you've got to be good at on a football pitch.
00:08:39And that's why he's an all-round, top-class player.
00:08:42You think you can never get a captain as good as Brian Robson,
00:08:46but then Roy Keane comes along.
00:08:47And look what he does for Man United and for the team.
00:09:06Since the day I've signed for the club today, I've never took my position for the teams granted.
00:09:10I think that's helped me in my career, without a doubt.
00:09:12If you look at midfield now, we've got me, Butty, Scores, Eva Ron.
00:09:16Four players trying to get into two positions.
00:09:19Four out of two doesn't go.
00:09:20So there's going to be two unhappy lads.
00:09:22But I have to make sure I'm not one of them lads.
00:09:43And I've got a big fear.
00:09:45I do not want to be a squad member.
00:09:47I'll have to accept sometimes.
00:09:49I won't be in the team, but there's no way I'm going to accept being a squad member.
00:09:52I do not want to be sitting on that bench on a cold Wednesday night at Old Trafford.
00:10:17The first time I've come across Keane was actually when he wasn't with United, when he was at Notts Forest.
00:10:22And we were playing them in a League Cup final at Wembley.
00:10:27And I remember, it was early on in the game, and I had the ball.
00:10:33And I think I just checked inside, and Keane just took my legs from under me.
00:10:38He swore at me or said something, and I just thought, he's this idiot here.
00:10:45I've had so many arguments with Rocky. I probably have one every day.
00:10:49I remember one game at Coventry when, you know, he squared up to me.
00:10:53And that was over me not crossing the ball the first time.
00:10:58If you do something wrong, you know Keane is the first person to tell you.
00:11:01And some people find that harsh, but, you know, none of us do.
00:11:06I'm sure I can be a pain in the backside to play with.
00:11:09But hopefully at the end of the day, when I train with the lads, I have arguments or discussions, whatever.
00:11:13Hopefully they know, and I think they do, with my teammates.
00:11:15Because people think I'm always giving them a stick, but I love my teammates, I do.
00:11:20Well, it is first, and it is personal when you're on the pitch.
00:11:22Because he means it, and you mean whatever you're saying back.
00:11:26But I think it helps you both concentrate on the game.
00:11:29And especially if you're in opposition, and you see two players going to each other, teammates like that.
00:11:35And I think you think, well, it isn't me in business, the winners.
00:11:38There are moments when you just think to yourself, well, she, you know, go away.
00:11:43But the question is, I mean, people, do you want him in your team on a Saturday afternoon?
00:11:48I mean, the answer is always yes.
00:11:54They definitely do struggle, especially the foreigners.
00:11:58You know, you think, oh, he's a mean, hard, tough player, tackles, you know.
00:12:06You see the sending off, you see him screaming to the referee, to opponents, to colleagues.
00:12:13And you think, all right, well, you know, what, what is that all about?
00:12:19Even with Yap, I remember Yap, even Yardi Cruyff, and even Rude, when he first came.
00:12:23And I think they find it strange that straight away after the match, I can chat to him and say,
00:12:26what are you doing now?
00:12:27And they're looking at me and saying, oh, is it forgotten about everything?
00:12:29And I've actually forgotten about it, I really have.
00:12:33Because it happens that much in a game.
00:12:35If I remembered every incident, I'd be talking to nobody.
00:12:40I've had my disagreements at Rude, but at the end of the day, I respect him.
00:12:43I think he's a top player.
00:12:44And hopefully he knows that if he needs anything, then I tell him, just give me a shot.
00:12:47And I'll help him out.
00:12:49You start to realise what it's about.
00:12:52He just wants to improve the other player.
00:12:58He wants to win.
00:13:00That's one thing about Roy.
00:13:02You know, he wants to win games.
00:13:03He doesn't care, you know, about anything else that's going on around him.
00:13:07Once he steps over that white line of the pitch, then that's all he thinks about doing.
00:13:13I think it is his job as captain to get the best out of the team, get the best out
00:13:16of the individuals.
00:13:19And I think he does that.
00:13:21People think, oh, I'm having to go to the players.
00:13:22I know for a fact none of them listen to me anyway.
00:13:24They're just, I know they're looking at me and they're like, yeah, go on Roy, you have your little tantrum.
00:13:28And they forget about it.
00:13:29I know for a fact.
00:13:30And I think that's what makes me even more angry then.
00:13:32Especially I think I've got a valid point there.
00:13:34And I'm like, are you doing that?
00:13:35I don't know.
00:13:35Yeah, yeah.
00:13:36You're not even listening.
00:14:03Honestly, does not a day go by when I don't think, oh, look, yeah, I'm, you know.
00:14:05I walk pretty hard, but I've been very lucky as well.
00:14:08And it's nice to have a nice holiday.
00:14:09It's important that you do spend time with your family.
00:14:17I think like most books, I was convinced, to be honest, I'd never get married.
00:14:20And maybe have kids and maybe 33, 34.
00:14:23But of course, things don't work out that way.
00:14:25And I've got four kids and honestly, I couldn't be happier.
00:14:31I'm having a good time.
00:14:32I've been here.
00:14:32This is our second week now.
00:14:33And really enjoyable.
00:14:35Nice to switch off.
00:14:36Back at work on Wednesday of next week.
00:14:38So, looking forward to that as well, you know.
00:14:43There's still a bit of devil in me.
00:14:44I think that tends to get me into trouble a little bit sometimes, you know.
00:14:47But people say it many times.
00:14:49Children do give you a different outlook in life, you know.
00:14:52Whereas before, football was my priority.
00:14:55And having a good night out was probably a close second, you know.
00:14:59Or maybe that was the other way around.
00:15:00Maybe a good night out was priority and then football.
00:15:02But, you know, when you've got your kids, they're very much a priority.
00:15:05And you do all you can to make them happy.
00:15:07Like, this holiday, they're having a great time.
00:15:09And that's what it's all about.
00:15:10But, we're winning.
00:15:12We're winning.
00:15:15We're winning.
00:15:19We're winning.
00:15:22Do you have a good traffic on up there?
00:15:24He, he, he looks a decent guy there.
00:15:29Oh yeah.
00:15:30Sorry, one of the players, we usually park just around the back.
00:15:33Is that okay?
00:15:33Because I'm gonna be late as it is.
00:15:35Do you have a car parking permit?
00:15:36No, I'm one of the players.
00:15:38They don't usually give you a permit.
00:15:39I'm one of the players.
00:15:41No, I'm going to the ground.
00:15:42Okay, thank you.
00:15:45He recognised you eventually.
00:15:48Where does he go for?
00:15:49He's a real belief.
00:16:09When we played Middlesbrough away in the cup, I remember it was a funny day, you know, the pitch was
00:16:15dry, the ground was half empty because of the fact they gave United a few tickets because of the year
00:16:20before I think there was a bit of trouble there.
00:16:50I think the players were looking for a good run and last year as well we were thinking it was
00:16:53our manager's last season so it would be nice to get to a cup final for him.
00:17:00I think he just summed up the whole season.
00:17:02We were just very slack on the day and we got punished and before you know it you're already a
00:17:07fit cup.
00:17:09We can't for you.
00:17:10We can't for you.
00:17:13We came back and we're the only one man playing.
00:17:20We can't for you.
00:17:26We won't.
00:17:28We can't for you.
00:17:37We're the only one who is that only 10-10 for you.
00:17:38We were the only one who is a party.
00:17:38We all might be the only one of the people.
00:17:38They know what they have to do, they take the field here at West Ham, then they have to pick
00:17:43Blackburn to win their third title in as many years.
00:17:45Before the end, we'll start assessing the qualities in relation to the players round about, i.e. who is an
00:17:54influence in the midfield.
00:18:06Paul Ince was a fantastic player for us, and in the year we won the double in 94, the two
00:18:12of them together were quite powerful, and then in the next season, I thought Roy was starting to outshine Paul
00:18:22in many ways, he was starting to develop himself as a player,
00:18:25he was starting to blossom and come to maturity, and we felt that he was going to be the big
00:18:32influence in the club.
00:18:35There's three major players that went, you know, Mark Hughes, Andrej Kinchelskis and Ince, you know, when three major players
00:18:42leave like that, you know,
00:18:45the manager knew what he was doing at the time, you know, it was just one of them sort of
00:18:50moments that, you know, the younger players like me and Gary
00:18:54and Nicky Barton Scholes who were probably looking at the team and thinking, you know, we're never going to get
00:18:58in this team.
00:19:01And then all of a sudden, you know, the gap opened up and, you know, he was brought in and
00:19:07lucky enough the manager sort of had faith in us.
00:19:09I think the transfer of Paulins is disgusting.
00:19:12I think it's a terrible decision, he's got all this money to spend on the new stand, he's not even
00:19:18going to have, you know, the fans to go in there next season.
00:19:20Ah, good news, I think every Liverpool man's happy today.
00:19:28I think when the manager got rid of Vinci and Kinchelskis would be like, they were saying the manager's mad.
00:19:32I said, what's he doing, he can't be getting rid of these players.
00:19:35Of course he knew, because he sees the players day in day out.
00:19:39You cannot allow a team to grow together.
00:19:41Manchester United had gone behind other clubs in terms of getting the best young players, which this club was famous
00:19:47for.
00:19:48All the staff at the club worked really hard in terms of trying to attract the best young players to
00:19:53the club.
00:19:57Used to have trials all the time and weird boys from everywhere.
00:20:02The scouts were working their socks off to get the best young kids.
00:20:10It was a lot of excitement to be at the club.
00:20:12But as you said, on the other hand, there's players thinking, well these lads are looking for my position.
00:20:18We had so much admiration and respect for these players.
00:20:23You know, we'd do anything for them.
00:20:24You know, I used to clean Brian Robson's boots.
00:20:26You know, and that was my claim to fame when I joined the club.
00:20:30I want to stay at this club. That was my immediate thought.
00:20:34I want to stay at this club.
00:20:35And no young whippersnapper from Manchester taking my position.
00:20:41And they weren't just good players.
00:20:43These were top players.
00:20:44You knew straight away by seeing them.
00:20:46We heard watching them.
00:20:47They trained with us a few times.
00:20:48And you knew by their training session straight away that these are good players.
00:20:52And not just one or two.
00:20:58They gradually get them in training with the first team.
00:21:00Just a few training sessions basically to see how they can handle it really.
00:21:04And when they train with the first team, you just knew that.
00:21:06They were destined to be in the first team.
00:21:09Sooner rather than later.
00:21:11It was obvious that these players were exceptional.
00:21:14And I think that happens in football.
00:21:16You get some little kid that just all of a sudden merges through the youth team into the first team.
00:21:23And take someone's place.
00:21:24That happens.
00:21:25That's a great thing about a football team.
00:21:27In this case, there were six or seven of them.
00:21:30You know, half a dozen of them just, boom, come through together.
00:21:33And when these players were knocking on the door telling me it's time for them to go in.
00:21:37We did it.
00:21:48The manager wouldn't have done what he did unless he believed in us.
00:21:51And that gives us the greatest faith that probably the most successful manager that we've ever had
00:21:57was breaking up a great side to make way for us.
00:22:00And that's something that gives you an unbelievable amount of confidence.
00:22:15I've made the statement you can't win anything with kids when Ferguson played over five or six youngsters.
00:22:2195, 96 at Villa Park and they could beat 3-1.
00:22:33And it was a one off.
00:22:37And unfortunately it was me who got it wrong.
00:23:00I thought it was a good line, you can't win anything with kids.
00:23:03Unfortunately I didn't realise how good the kids were at the time.
00:23:07And they won a double.
00:23:09There's never been another side since, I don't think there will be,
00:23:12that you can play six kids under the age of 21 and then win the Premiership.
00:23:16All right.
00:23:45The manager called me and wondered to his officer,
00:23:48he said to me, he said, I'm thinking of staying, and he was laughing,
00:23:52and I started laughing, so as soon as he said, I'm thinking of staying,
00:23:55I knew he was staying.
00:23:56When you have that in your blood, I think it's hard to give up.
00:23:59Imagine the manager being, I'm thinking, at Leopardstown on a horse meeting,
00:24:03and it comes through that Manchester United 2-0 down or somewhere,
00:24:06I'm sure it would probably just hurt him too much.
00:24:09And he just bought two or three new players as well,
00:24:11and the fact that we hadn't won a trophy as well last year,
00:24:13I think he was thinking, I'm not going to leave on a low point,
00:24:17even though I wasn't obviously at the end of the season,
00:24:20but I'm sure he was thinking, maybe it doesn't look like we're going to win something,
00:24:23so he's like, I'll make sure I'm going to leave on a high.
00:24:36The theatre were very fast announced that we have managed to sign Joaquin.
00:24:41The theatre were very fast announced that we have managed to sign Joaquin.
00:25:14I think we could have done better, you know, we need to raise our standards, you know.
00:25:29I think we could have done better.
00:25:58I watched it many times and he caught his feet in the top and stumbled against Harland
00:26:03without any use of the leg at all.
00:26:14Anyway, at the time it played on, it played on for two or three minutes, eventually it
00:26:20came off and after the game Dave Fever, our official at the time, said, I fear the worst
00:26:27here.
00:26:28I mean, we all, we knew really that night there was a Christian.
00:26:33You couldn't imagine being a good patient, you know, you couldn't, because he loves to
00:26:40play, loves to train and everything he does is dermal energy.
00:26:45I explained to him the situation at the time and I give some certain examples of the work
00:26:52is going to need to be done in terms of sacrifice and he knew, he knew right away, he knew
00:26:59absolutely
00:27:00that clearly in his mind that this was going to be a long job.
00:27:04I also said to him at the time, we're not going to rush out, it's fine to keep you out
00:27:09of
00:27:09here because you're young and it was the best thing we did.
00:27:31Mike's come on board the last two years.
00:27:39This is the first time I've done weight, not making excuses, but for about four or five
00:27:44weeks.
00:27:44You soon lose it a little bit, even generally running, you know, going on the treadmill,
00:27:48not training for a week or two.
00:27:50He catches up with you.
00:27:51Yeah.
00:27:52Looking on the, am I?
00:27:55Everything's fine.
00:27:56Everything's coming on busy.
00:28:01I probably learned a lot from my injury, you know, as I said before, and I was off for
00:28:05about nine, ten months and before that I think I took most things for granted, with football
00:28:11anyway.
00:28:13Then when I was out for a year, you know, it taught me a lot, you know, to probably enjoy
00:28:17it when I do get, if I get back, but I was always confident, you know, I would be back
00:28:21and it's proved to be, you know.
00:28:23Three.
00:28:24Come on, two more.
00:28:25Come on, brother.
00:28:30Now, come on, dig deep, last one.
00:28:32Come on, one more.
00:28:34There you go.
00:28:36Come on, give out.
00:28:37One more.
00:28:38Come on.
00:28:39Pull.
00:28:40The last one.
00:28:42How'll they?
00:28:44I think it's done.
00:28:45I think it's done.
00:28:46I think it's done, isn't it?
00:28:50Oh, shit.
00:28:51I should've done that one.
00:28:53When you see kids starting off getting injuries, you know, they're the ones you feel sorry
00:28:56for.
00:28:57Even now, you know, I'm nearly 31 and, you know, hopefully another three or four years
00:29:02left.
00:29:07I was quite lucky to have signed the contract when I did, you know, that brings me
00:29:09up to maybe 34, 35, because there's no doubt in my mind that would be it, you know, even
00:29:15if I make it that fair, because it takes its toll and it catches up with you, no doubt
00:29:20about that.
00:29:39We've asked you to come along today so that we may announce that Eric Cantona has indicated
00:29:43his wish to retire from football with immediate effect.
00:29:46a little bit more.
00:29:47Oh, no.
00:29:49Don't go down to Dodgeron.
00:29:54Arlen can forget the passports for another four years.
00:29:56They will not be going to the World Cup Finals.
00:29:59Luke Nellis' goal stops them going to France 98.
00:30:03How's Mick McCarrity feeling this evening?
00:30:06Well, whoever's feeling bad, I can say I'm feeling ten times worse than that.
00:30:09It's good for you.
00:30:10But then you know what you can do for this.
00:30:13Get on the basket, yeah.
00:30:16Get on the basket, yeah.
00:30:18Get on the basket, yeah.
00:30:29Hi, Roy.
00:30:31How are you?
00:30:32Not too bad.
00:30:32That was a very impressive bit of training you had there at the AUL complex this afternoon.
00:30:35Impressive.
00:30:36I wouldn't go that far.
00:30:37It was nice to be back and it was enjoyable, yeah.
00:30:39Yeah, you certainly were showing no signs of any recent cruciate ligament history.
00:30:44No, that's in the past.
00:30:45I'm just going to fall into the future and hopefully helping Ireland qualify and do well
00:30:48with United.
00:30:49Speaking of United, they certainly missed you towards the end of their season.
00:30:52Well, they done well when I first had injury, but towards the end, I'd like to think
00:30:55I would have helped the team some way, but it wasn't to be.
00:30:57Arsenal done well.
00:30:59But hopefully we can go a bit further this year in Europe as well, hopefully.
00:31:06We started sluggish, and when you start sluggish, it's really hard to get back in the swing
00:31:10of things.
00:31:11We did, to be fair, we even done a very good run, especially around the Christmas period.
00:31:17Hey!
00:31:18Hey!
00:31:21Hey!
00:31:21Hey!
00:31:22Hey!
00:31:24Hey!
00:31:32Hey!
00:31:32Hey!
00:31:34Hey!
00:31:35Hey!
00:31:38Hey!
00:31:39Hey!
00:31:40Hey!
00:31:41Hey!
00:31:42Hey!
00:31:42Hey!
00:31:45Hey!
00:31:46Hey!
00:31:47Hey!
00:31:48Hey!
00:31:49Hey!
00:31:51Hey!
00:31:55Hey!
00:32:03We slid a bit, to be honest with you. I just think the damage was done. The damage was
00:32:10already done with the defeats. As I said, the six defeats, especially at home, which
00:32:14I keep saying, but it's a disaster to lose six. We've never done it, you know. We might
00:32:19lose the odd game here at home in the whole season to lose six at home in the league.
00:32:24A disaster. For the years, I think, when we have been in the league, I think, as well
00:32:34as we've been playing, a lot of it was down to how poor the other teams were. I think
00:32:39over the last few years, Liverpool and Arsenal have really improved. Leeds, even Chelsea,
00:32:45they've come on, to be fair. But I know it's important that we step up another level, you
00:32:49know. And if we still had a bit of luck, I think we could have won the European Cup.
00:32:53Tied to the 90s, but we're tied to the 90s. Tied to the 90s.
00:33:00Tied to the 90s. Tied to the 11 to 12.
00:33:33I've had serious injuries before and this is really not that serious when you look at
00:33:37it.
00:33:37It's just bad timing.
00:33:38They've got important games coming up and I'm going to miss a lot of important matches.
00:33:53A lot of it goes through your mind, you know, especially during anything, end of the season.
00:33:57Obviously, we've got important matches at United, the World Cup coming up and you'd think
00:34:01the worst but a day or two, you know, you get back to being realistic and thinking it's
00:34:05a hamstring injury but hopefully I'll be back for the last week or two of the season and
00:34:08the World Cup.
00:34:12Where are we going?
00:34:13What are we doing?
00:34:14Physio's room.
00:34:15Just a little bit of leg treatment.
00:34:17My leg's getting a lot better so I don't really need that much treatment, just some work in
00:34:23the gym.
00:34:23So, from the last two days my hamstring's really settled down so I'm really happy with
00:34:29it.
00:34:30It's a very little treatment now, very little.
00:34:35It's called a physio.
00:34:42Rob!
00:34:47No.
00:34:47No physio, no treatment.
00:34:50Sorry Rob, are you okay?
00:34:53Is that okay?
00:34:55If you wanted to turn it off.
00:34:56No, you're okay.
00:35:06Honestly, I was thinking three or four weeks as simple as that.
00:35:09If I get fit, I get fit.
00:35:10But you have to be honest, if you're not right, you're not right.
00:35:13And I'm looking to jog on Monday.
00:35:15There's a big difference between jogging and sprinting and turning and kicking the football.
00:35:19I'm still relaxed about it and thinking hopefully Monday to Friday, get a good bit of jogging
00:35:23and then maybe the following week, maybe do a little bit more.
00:35:26But to be fair, I'm lucky again, the medical people at United are brilliant.
00:35:29They know what they're pushing, they know what to say.
00:35:32Take, have a day off, you know.
00:35:34I think I don't know.
00:35:35How is it?
00:35:36Yeah, it feels a lot better.
00:35:38They had me wreck you last night.
00:35:39Yeah.
00:35:40I've injured my hamstring before and I was out for a fair few weeks with that.
00:35:44But this was a proper tear, you know.
00:35:46But again, if you kind of remain positive when you are injured, I think it speeds it up.
00:35:51And I've done what the medical people have taught me.
00:35:53I've had plenty of rest, plenty of sleep.
00:35:56I think sleep's important, believe it or not, in your recovery.
00:35:58Whereas a few years ago, when you are injured, you've probably done stuff you shouldn't be doing, you know.
00:36:04I think probably United are more advanced than a lot of teams regarding the weights.
00:36:09Look at the training facilities, swimming pools, jacuzzis.
00:36:12Go and speak to the dietician, the doctor.
00:36:15The last four or five years has really come on leaps and bounds.
00:36:18And having said that, sit up to the player to take it on board, you know.
00:36:22You can't force them to do weights or to use the swimming pool.
00:36:26It's up to themselves.
00:36:27And 80, 90% of the footballers at United, to be fair, use the facilities.
00:36:31But you always get one or two who are stuck in their ways.
00:36:37I think sometimes you're not sure, obviously, you'd have a scan or an x-ray.
00:36:40But generally, I know my body quite well, you know.
00:36:42So I know when something's bad or it's not too bad.
00:36:46But as I said, last week, it felt pretty bad.
00:36:49But the last two days, it's really settled down.
00:36:52Obviously, the medical people are looking after me.
00:36:54So I'm in good hands, you know.
00:36:58As you can gather, you know, it's pretty boring, you know, for me.
00:37:01It's worse for me.
00:37:02It's worse for the physio, yeah.
00:37:05Obviously, this is a short-term injury.
00:37:07When you have a long-term injury, it can be bloody frustrating.
00:37:09But this is not, you know, this is not compared to what I've had before.
00:37:14...so as you can know.
00:37:22So it is not true.
00:37:23It's true.
00:37:24One, two, three.
00:37:28I don't know.
00:37:29It's not true.
00:37:30I'm going to go.
00:37:31One, two, three.
00:37:3220.
00:37:321, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1.
00:37:37I'm just going to go.
00:37:41Oh, my God!
00:37:52I lost my time, but we were losing. I think it was 4-3 at the last minute.
00:37:56But if you're going to get sent off, the worst thing is, I pushed him.
00:37:59If you're going to get sent off, you might as well punch him properly.
00:38:02Because you're going to get the same punishment.
00:38:03You might as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb.
00:38:05That's what I was thinking afterwards. It wasn't even...
00:38:07It was just a push. Ridiculous.
00:38:11I was fed up and annoyed with myself.
00:38:14Especially after the match. The gaff room never really had a go at me after the match.
00:38:17And I knew that. I knew about his body language.
00:38:21How much more right, you know what I mean?
00:38:23But, you know, I was more annoyed with myself than I knew.
00:38:27I saw him the next day and I said, I've had enough and I meant it.
00:38:30I came back that night and I waited. I didn't sleep a wink.
00:38:33I spoke to Theresa when I got back.
00:38:34And she said, you're mad. I said, I know that.
00:38:39But, and the next moment I went to see the gaffer.
00:38:41And then the Monday, I never would try on the Monday, or the Sunday.
00:38:44And he came around Monday afternoon and made a good chat.
00:38:46And he said, you'll miss it.
00:38:47And I was convinced I wouldn't.
00:38:49But I suppose.
00:38:51Deep, deep, very deep down, I thought, of course, I'll miss walking on all triumphant.
00:38:54I love playing all triumphant. I love playing for United. Full stop.
00:39:05All me sending it off have been stupid, really.
00:39:10But you pay for it, you know, the suspension's a killer.
00:39:12Red card, King's off.
00:39:36You've all decided that it's best that I keep the armband.
00:39:43I've offered to give it up loads of times, especially when I've been sent off.
00:39:46For daft things, I've said, you know, give up the captaincy.
00:39:49And we've discussed it man to man.
00:39:51And so I've always come back to, you know, give it another go.
00:40:09When I do get into a rage, like on the pitch, I do feel myself going, you know what I
00:40:13mean?
00:40:14And even sometimes I'm on the outside looking at myself going, just leave it.
00:40:17It might be something damp, but that's the way I am.
00:40:21When you look at me, that way.
00:40:29Durkin, less than impressed with the challenge.
00:40:32Despite a plea from Roy Keane, he's going to be in trouble as well for something he said.
00:40:38Some of the referees really get me nervous as well, to be fair to them,
00:40:40but I do think they have a bloody hard job.
00:40:43Some of them, I think, some of them walk around now as if there was referees before.
00:40:47The top referee would, he'd give his own performance by not being noticed.
00:40:51There's the other way around now.
00:40:52They're, they're strutting around.
00:40:55And you know, damn well, they're going to book you.
00:40:56I just know I'm going to be booked by certain referees.
00:41:22I got half a mind to die.
00:41:29I've said it to Ellery before, and I think he's set me off four times.
00:41:33I'd probably deserve an issue, and he's, you know, I've said to him before the game,
00:41:37I said, you might as well book me now in the tunnel, and let's just get over, get it over
00:41:40with.
00:41:41I can't remember if he laughed or not.
00:41:45I will never end the line.
00:41:51I still make mistakes like everybody else, you know, as I said, the pilot light is still on,
00:41:55and sometimes it's fueled up a little bit, but I try to keep it as quiet as I can,
00:41:59but like everybody else, I make mistakes.
00:42:24Juventus game was probably our best performance ever.
00:42:26They were the best team in Europe.
00:42:27They were the ones that we were measuring ourselves against.
00:42:39Well, I wasn't actually playing.
00:42:41I was in the stands watching.
00:42:42I got injured.
00:42:45So many of the team played well that night.
00:42:48Oh, no, what's the referee going to do?
00:42:49It's a yellow card.
00:42:50It was just a mistimed tackle.
00:42:52Some players go under.
00:42:53Some players think, you know, I'm not getting in the final and start sulking up.
00:42:57You know, that's not Keeney.
00:42:59Boy, after 20-something minutes, he wasn't going to play in the final.
00:43:04But it wasn't going to stop him from when he's best game ever from Manchester's.
00:43:12You know, never mind I'm missing the final.
00:43:14I'm going to make sure that this team goes through to the final.
00:43:18And the way he played that night, I think it was one of the, probably, great performances
00:43:24I've ever seen.
00:43:28The importance of the occasion, getting to the final, put his suspension right in another
00:43:35field altogether.
00:43:36It was never going to be in the shirt.
00:43:38He was going to make sure he got to the final.
00:43:47The first goal in that game was the all-important goal, and it was a typical Keeney goal.
00:43:54The whole team played well.
00:43:55I don't get the wrong, wasn't it?
00:43:56A one-man show, by any matter of means.
00:43:59But he was the man, the pivotal man, in terms of changing the game around for us.
00:44:04He literally went from strength to strength in the game, and that's why we got through to
00:44:10that final, because we had someone like that.
00:44:12It was tinged with sadness, slightly, that, you know, you knew the two teammates were happy
00:44:17that they got, you know, they got us to the final, but they weren't going to be part of it.
00:44:21Manchester United's first ever win on Italian soil takes them back to the final.
00:44:26We're all celebrating, we're all, you know, out on the pitch, then we walk in, and the
00:44:30first person I see when I walked in was Keeney, you know, sat down on the bench, and to be
00:44:35honest, you know, he looked, he looked devastated, and, you know, rightly so.
00:44:40There was a, how would you put, a distance from a normal elation of a triumph where I don't
00:44:50think it would have been the final hand of the win for Roy.
00:44:53You never realise it at the time, because you're part of it, but you look back in years
00:44:56to come, and you'll think, what an amazing performance it was.
00:44:58It embarrasses me when people say that, you know, Roy, you've gone to the final, you're
00:45:01going to miss out and stuff.
00:45:04Just, what, do you think, if I played on my own, I would have to have fun?
00:45:06Yeah, no chance. It was a good team effort throughout the whole campaign.
00:45:19I've had my nights out, you know, and my crack with the lads, and my holidays with the lads,
00:45:23and I don't think I could handle a week away with a bunch of lads now, to be honest, which
00:45:27this is nice to come away and switch off.
00:45:31I have quite a laugh when the lads tell me what, you know, their antics, what they get
00:45:35up to, but I've been there and I've done it, and I've got a good look to them.
00:45:38I generally enjoy the lads' crack.
00:45:40You know, when we get back next week, a few of the lads would have been away with their
00:45:42own mates, and they'd have some great stories.
00:45:45Mine would be pretty straightforward stories, you know, a quiet meal here and there, but
00:45:49as I said, I've been there and done it, and, you know, I wouldn't change it.
00:45:53I'm quite happy at the stage of my life I'm at, so good luck to them.
00:46:01I can be fairly rude to people when I'm with the children if they're annoying me, because
00:46:05I accept to a certain extent that's part of my job to sign autographs and be polite to
00:46:09people, but when I'm with my children, I tend to say, you know, back off a little bit.
00:46:14But some people do overstep the mark, and, you know, I'm quick to tell them to say, you
00:46:18know, I'm with my family and give me a bit of breathing space.
00:46:25We try and live a low-key lifestyle, you know, we do avoid certain functions where there's
00:46:28it could be, obviously, press or photographers, because it's important that the kids live
00:46:34a normal life as possible.
00:46:35But as they get a bit older, like Shannon and Karen, I was six or seven, they're well
00:46:38aware of what's going on.
00:46:39They're not that, you know, and they go talk to half and they've been to matches, and
00:46:42they see people coming up to me and asking autographs and stuff like this, and again, that's
00:46:46a part you have to accept.
00:46:47When you're playing for a big club, it is fairly hard, because the media are always looking
00:46:51for information, whether it be good or bad.
00:46:53And that's the downside of the job, of course, but, again, you have to accept it, because
00:46:58the ups make up for the downs.
00:47:01Hey, Shannon, go and get our ring, please.
00:47:02Oh, you will.
00:47:03It's up there.
00:47:05Is it out of the way?
00:47:06Alex Ferguson arrived at Manchester's Bootle Street Police Station at 9.15 this morning,
00:47:11flanked by club security staff.
00:47:13It's sad after we won the league, and I got arrested on Monday, and the gaffer came on
00:47:17the Tuesday morning to get me.
00:47:19The life I was living, it was 100 miles an hour.
00:47:22You know, I couldn't have carried on that way.
00:47:24If we won, I celebrated.
00:47:25If we lost, it's drawing me sorrows type of thing, you know.
00:47:28There was no balance to me life.
00:47:31I'm definitely more relaxed.
00:47:33I've got a different outlook on life, you know.
00:47:34I'm not getting too spiritual, but you know what I mean.
00:47:37I'm getting more relaxed about things.
00:47:39Well, I'm trying to help you, but as I said, it won't stop me from losing me ragged, you
00:47:44know.
00:47:50Almost 100,000 people here in the Nou Camp this evening.
00:47:54That night, I wasn't part of it.
00:47:56I didn't play, did I?
00:47:58I don't know why people don't understand when I answer them, and they say, well, you got
00:48:02the medal, but I didn't play.
00:48:03How can that be the same?
00:48:06It's not the same.
00:48:07I wasn't even sub.
00:48:09I wasn't in the squad.
00:48:10I was in the stand.
00:48:12Shirt and tie on.
00:48:13I think it took 13 games to get to the final.
00:48:16I played in all of them.
00:48:18But I missed the big one.
00:48:19I got a medal.
00:48:20They gave me a medal, but it doesn't mean anything to me, really.
00:48:24It means nothing to me.
00:48:27I remember going back to the dressing rooms, you know, and you kind of join in, but deep
00:48:31down, you're saying, I don't want to be here, you know.
00:48:34I think it's just most natural feelings in the world, you know, you're just on the edge
00:48:38looking in, and it's very hard.
00:48:53I don't know.
00:49:13When we beat La Corunia in the quarter-finals, everyone was up in the boat, but I was very
00:49:18worried about this German team, I really wasn't, and people said, well, it's a hindsight,
00:49:22it's easy, but at the time, people were writing them off, and I just thought, you don't write
00:49:27the Germans off, you don't.
00:49:32Oh, he is human after all, and he's allowed to miss the odd goal.
00:49:52Oh, he is human after all.
00:49:56So why don't you take a look?
00:50:01So why don't we take a look inside?
00:50:22When you go on that pitch, of course, you're going to try and you expect to win, but I just
00:50:26had a funny feeling, he's done my boy to lower the cues in.
00:50:49Alex, what did you think of that scoreline 2-2?
00:50:51Well, I think it's a fair result.
00:50:53I think they were the better side in the second half.
00:50:56Although we had a fantastic chance at 2-1, instead of everyone, the goalkeepers are getting
00:51:00saved and stripped apart league-wise, so that's the kind of work you need in the semi-final.
00:51:09That's the thing, he looked at the chance we had over there, and we've won a lot.
00:51:12Yeah, Giggs, Keane is there, he stepped away from the keeper, it's Roy Keane, it's 1-0!
00:51:22Brilliantly taken goal by Oliver Millen.
00:51:26Everybody's whistling about the ring, there we go.
00:51:30Some things are just not meant to be.
00:51:34The high road home to Glasgow, ends here for Sir Alex Ferguson.
00:51:42You shouldn't be thinking ahead, but I thought Real Madrid, I fancied a chance of so much against
00:51:47them, but you have to win the semi-final, of course, Boston.
00:51:51Disaster.
00:51:52The name, Roy Keane, conjures up many sporting ages.
00:51:57As the captain and keystone for both Manchester United and the Irish national team,
00:52:04his success has carried on a long tradition of court football and sporting achievement.
00:52:15It's been a funny old season, you know, from the start when the manager said he would return.
00:52:20A little bit more, just straight ahead.
00:52:22Here we go, that's it.
00:52:25We'll start with our friend here, Roy Keane, who's coming to say to us,
00:52:29and then we move on to the other honourands to justify their existence here.
00:52:39Thank you, Chancellor Fitzgerald. I'll keep it brief. I'm obviously pretty nervous.
00:52:44I'd just like to thank, obviously, the University of Ireland for giving me this honour.
00:52:49I feel quite embarrassed, to be honest, especially when you look at the other recipients.
00:52:53I feel quite humbled, but on the other hand I'm very proud to be here.
00:52:57I'd never thought I'd see the day over at UCC and up in Mayfield.
00:53:01But it's a great honour for me and my family, and I'm glad you're here.
00:53:06And especially I'd like to thank, obviously, the UCC and the President, Professor Rickson,
00:53:10for nominating me for this award.
00:53:12And it is a great honour, and I'm very proud.
00:53:15And again, I'd like to say well done to the other recipients.
00:53:18It's a great day for me.
00:53:20I've had a disappointing few weeks with United.
00:53:24This has cheered me up a little bit.
00:53:25And, you know, I'm glad to be here.
00:53:27As I said, it's a great honour for me and my family.
00:53:30And, you know, I thank you all.
00:53:39Is this it now?
00:53:44And again, if you just find it, you need to put...
00:53:49I'll go between you and that side.
00:53:50Between you?
00:53:51Yeah, same.
00:53:53Before us, is it?
00:53:54I'll just go before you, yeah.
00:53:55Oh, yeah.
00:53:57Vino!
00:53:59Vino!
00:54:00Vino!
00:54:01Vino!
00:54:01All right, who?
00:54:13Cheers!
00:54:37We've been the benchmark for the rest of the teams over the last few years, but last year, you have
00:54:42to give credit, Arsenal and Liverpool definitely passed us by, and I just think they were more hungry than us.
00:54:49You ask any sports people, I suppose, boxers, anything, if you're slacking off one or two percent, you're phoned out.
00:54:56I think we found out last year, the hunger just wasn't there. After winning the Tribble, I read a few
00:55:02quotes from different players, and they said at the time, I don't care if I never win a trophy again,
00:55:08it doesn't matter now what happens, and you're thinking, it does, you know, it's next year, you know?
00:55:19We're just not good enough, and you've got to face the facts, the players give it their all, but we're
00:55:22just not good enough, and maybe it's time to move on, you know, maybe it's the end of the road
00:55:26for this team, I'm not sure.
00:55:27Bayern Munich were better than us, but I think we were better than Leverkusen last year.
00:55:31We were happy to announce that Manchester United have completed the purchase of one Sebastian Verón.
00:55:43There was a lot of pressure on the new players, which was unfair, because when you come to the Premiership,
00:55:47it's very hard.
00:55:48The Premiership, every game, is a tough physical match.
00:55:52Towards the last week of the season, we still had a chance, you know, and we lost the home to
00:55:55Arsenal, and that was the final nail in the coffin, but as I said, we gave ourselves too much to
00:56:00do.
00:56:01To lose six league matches at home was just too much.
00:56:04I think we relied on maybe Verón, or Lorne, or Rude to pull us out of the crap when we
00:56:12were in, and they did a number of times, especially Rude, who had no standard season, but we just won
00:56:17at the races.
00:56:21I think Kevin Keegan said once, if you reach for the moon and you miss, you know, you hit the
00:56:24stars, you know, and I think we just slackened off.
00:56:54I'm not looking forward to the trip. It's going to be a long day for us, but I'm sure once
00:56:58we get over there, we'll get set for the first matching.
00:57:01You know, we're all looking forward to it.
00:57:10The first night we got there, it was an evening meal, and Mick said about the training kit hadn't arrived.
00:57:15The training pitch wasn't as good as he thought, and as soon as Mick said that, I thought it must
00:57:19be bad.
00:57:21I couldn't believe it. I really couldn't. So I went to Mick's room that night, about half an hour later,
00:57:26and I said, I'm disappointed with it, and I left it at that.
00:57:31Towards the afternoon, the stormclaws were gathering. I just knew it. No one had spoke to me.
00:57:36And I went for my meal at half six on the Thursday, and I was told there was a meeting
00:57:39at half at seven, and Mick came in, and I knew what it was about.
00:57:43Mick was the one who called it in front of everybody else, and said I'd turn my back on the
00:57:48players, and questioned my loyalty to my country.
00:57:51I wasn't going to sit there and say, excuse me Mick, I think you're a little bit out of order.
00:57:57And I said to him at the minute, I said, you're a liar. And I walked out of that room,
00:58:01and I walked out of my international career.
00:58:09The Irish team manager Mick McCarty has informed the FAI that following a team meeting today inside Pan, that he
00:58:15has requested Roy Keane to leave the squad and return home.
00:58:20I can't, will not, tolerate the level of abuse that was thrown at me, so I have sent it home.
00:58:33When I went back to my room, my solicitor rang me. He said, oh, you're coming back? And I said,
00:58:37well, how do you know?
00:58:38And he says, well, there's been a press conference. And I said, no, there couldn't have been. I said, the
00:58:43meeting just finished about 15 minutes ago.
00:58:44Anyway, it's been a press conference, Roy. I've just seen that in the news. And that really bugged me as
00:58:48well, you know.
00:58:50And this is from the players. This is the players' statement. It reads, regrettably, the manner of Roy's behaviour have
00:59:01left the staff and players in no doubt that the interests of the squad are best served without Roy's presence.
00:59:16Where is Roy Keane now? Is he still out in Saipan with the squad?
00:59:20Physically, I don't know where he is, but I presume he's still in Saipan and arrangements will be made to
00:59:24take him home.
00:59:26Roy, can you give us just one reaction being sent home from the World Cup?
00:59:30I made my own arrangements to come back. The FAI weren't really the most helpful, to be fair.
00:59:34Can you give us any insight into what happened last night? No.
00:59:40Can you even tell us how you're feeling at the moment? I feel very good. I'm tired of conscience.
00:59:48And I'm happy to be going home. I'm going to go home and see my family.
00:59:52Any regrets at all? No regrets. Not even about playing in the World Cup?
00:59:56I think it's more important things to worry about.
01:00:11Do you think that Roy should apologise? No. No. No. No. Definitely not. He's nothing to apologise for.
01:00:20Yeah, I think he's let himself down. I think in a couple of days he'll wake up and you wonder
01:00:23why he gave up the chance to play in the World Cup for Ireland.
01:00:25He got us to the World Cup. McCarty was there as a leader, but he's no leader now.
01:00:29We're all very disappointed, you know, because, you know, at this stage he's let his country down, you know.
01:00:33I think Roy Keane's been treated very badly in this. I don't condone what he said in his outburst, but
01:00:39I certainly think that, you know, Mick McCarty's been a long-time pro, he should be able to take a
01:00:44more reasonable stance in it.
01:00:46Come back, Roy Keane.
01:01:06I've been frustrated for many years now regarding with the Irish setup. I made a few points over there and
01:01:10a lot of people aren't happy with that and ended up with an argument with the manager because I think
01:01:14the buck stops with the manager.
01:01:16I think it's his job to make sure things are right for the team and it wasn't and I said
01:01:20it and there you have it. I'm in Portugal on my holidays.
01:01:27I couldn't believe we went to Saipan to train when the island doesn't have a football pitch.
01:01:33You tell me, what are we doing in Saipan without a football pitch?
01:01:36I know it was two weeks before the tournament and it was a time of relaxation but barring injury you
01:01:40need to train on a secure training ground.
01:01:43And of course the first one or two days we picked up one of two injuries. It's as simple as
01:01:46that. The evidence is there.
01:01:48The Wednesday I spoke to two press lads who I had a bit of time for, two decent writers I
01:01:53think, Tom Humphries and Paul Kimmage.
01:01:55And I made my point to him that I was disappointed with certain things. Thursday morning there was an interview
01:02:00gone in the Times which I read myself and it was fine.
01:02:02Thursday night there was a meeting organised and as soon as the meeting was called Nick said certain people aren't
01:02:07happy with things and I said I am not.
01:02:09Which I told him the other night in a private meeting anyway. I said to him at the time, why
01:02:13can't we do this in private?
01:02:14And he said well you've made it public by your, and he pulled out an interview from his back pocket
01:02:19as if maybe to catch me off guard.
01:02:21And I said I've already read it and I stand by what I say.
01:02:25There's one or two players sitting in a press conference saying oh we couldn't believe it and these lads you
01:02:30know.
01:02:32Muppets, muffets. It's an American describer. To sit there and to say what they said about me.
01:02:38Hypocrites you know, these lads. Cowards. Cowards sums them up and I mean that.
01:02:44I will not go back on that. Ambush. Maybe. I wasn't going to sit there.
01:02:50Especially when Nick made the accusations about me which seemed to have been swept under the carpet a little bit.
01:02:55About me faking an injury. So for him to accuse me that, that was the biggest insult.
01:02:59I told him that he was wrong. That I didn't fake injury.
01:03:03And that I didn't respect him as a manager, as a person, as a player.
01:03:11He said if you don't respect me you can't play a thing. And I left the room. And it was,
01:03:15it was over.
01:03:28We made you feel the way you are as wrong. We made you what you are. You are afraid.
01:03:43If you don't play the game, we'll make you change.
01:03:51Ooh, ooh, I've changed. Ooh, ooh, I've changed.
01:04:05Ooh, ooh, I've changed.
01:04:11Maybe nine times. We won it twice. You know? So, why not?
01:04:16I've got four years contract left.
01:04:20I think I might be asking which to win it four times. But I'd like to try and win it
01:04:24a couple of times the next four years.
01:04:25And I think that's realistic. You know? It's not, I'm not hoping we'll win it four times.
01:04:30I think too, I think we've got the players
01:04:31as capable of doing it.
01:04:32But having said that, you look at the teams around,
01:04:34there's some fantastic teams.
01:04:36Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, I think Arsenal.
01:04:39Some outstanding teams too.
01:04:41But I'm running out of time.
01:04:43I'm running out of time.
01:04:45Go on!
01:05:00He'll be here, smiling on time.
01:05:04He's romancing you and chancing his arm.
01:05:08He'll be here, smiling on time.
01:05:12Roy's keen, oh, Roy's keen.
01:05:17Roy's keen, oh, Roy's keen.
01:05:20We've never seen a keener, a window cleaner.
01:05:29Back up the ladder, into each corner.
01:05:33Dunk in the chamois, just think of the goodwill.
01:05:38The ladder's a planet, Roy's a star and I am a satellite,
01:05:44but that's all right.
01:05:47He can hold a smile for as long as you require,
01:05:53even longer.
01:05:56He can hold a smile for as long as you require, even longer.
01:06:04Roy's keen, oh, Roy's keen.
01:06:09Roy's keen, oh, Roy's keen.
01:06:12We've never seen a keener, a window cleaner.
01:06:21Back up the ladder, into each corner.
01:06:26Dunk in the chamois, just think of the goodwill.
01:06:29The ladder's a planet, Roy's a star and I am a satellite, I will be satellite.
01:06:39Don't say you'll hold it steady, then you let it go.
01:06:47Don't say you'll hold it steady, then you let it go.
01:06:56You're up the ladder, into each corner.
01:07:00What's in a bucket, you'll trust you to wreck it?
01:07:06Even when it's under your nose.
01:07:10Well, you just can't see it, can you?
01:07:14Well it's here, right under your nose
01:07:18And you just can't see it, can you?
01:07:23La la la la, royal is king
01:07:27La la la, royal is king
01:07:30La la la la, royal is king
01:07:36La la la, royal is king
01:07:39We've never seen a king
01:07:44La la la, royal is king
01:07:54Okay boys, thank you
