00:00And the Black Caucus of the United States Congress demanded Washington to end the oil
00:05blockade on Cuba.
00:06In a letter addressed to the U.S. administration on Friday, Congressional Black Caucus Chairwoman
00:13Yvette DeClark said she was alarmed by the growing humanitarian crisis in Cuba and that
00:18it was time for the administration to lift its oil blockade and the archaic or necessarily
00:22harsh sanctions that have disproportionately harmed innocent Cubans for decades.
00:27She went on by citing a report by the New York Times that informed that as a result of
00:31the sanctions, the infant mortality rate in Cuba has more than doubled since 2018, with
00:36food shortages leading to more underweight pregnant mothers and their newborns.
00:40Too many Cuban children are unable to make it out of the hospital and home to their families.
00:45In another part of the text, Clark sentenced that the Congressional Black Caucus would
00:50not stand by and allow this administration to drag out this barbaric policy that generates
00:55unimaginable human suffering in Cuba.
