00:00:23ДИНАМИЧНАЯ МУЗЫКА
00:00:43After a hat-trick of wins by his young teammate, Kimi Antonelli,
00:00:47it was a statement sprint win and pole position for George Russell
00:00:50yesterday here in Montreal as Mercedes locked out the front row again.
00:00:56It's just another race for me.
00:00:58It's not even on my mind the championship.
00:01:00I know what I'm capable of.
00:01:02I know the speed I've got.
00:01:03I'm very not here.
00:01:05That's your penalty.
00:01:06Yeah, if we need to race like this, then good enough.
00:01:09We've all just witnessed the beginning of a whole new phase
00:01:12at Mercedes-Benz Formula One.
00:01:14I just need to focus on myself and control what I can control,
00:01:17so there's really no need to panic at all.
00:01:21Woo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo!
00:01:23Yes!
00:01:28You could hear the delight in George Russell's voice yesterday.
00:01:32He knew what it meant to hold his teammate's momentum
00:01:35with his third consecutive pole here in Montreal.
00:01:38He converted it into victory last year
00:01:40and will be desperate to do the same today.
00:01:44The two Mercedes drivers separated by exactly the same time
00:01:48in sprint and regular qualifying over the weekend.
00:01:5068 milliseconds.
00:01:52It's been tasty between the pair.
00:01:54We've got wheel-to-wheel and we're hoping for more today.
00:01:58But it is cold.
00:01:59It is windy.
00:02:00It's been warm all the way through the weekend up until now.
00:02:03We're an hour and a half away from the Canadian Grand Prix.
00:02:10Evening all, welcome to Montreal.
00:02:13The atmosphere building nicely here with an hour and a half to go,
00:02:16as I mentioned, until lights out.
00:02:19But what a day we had yesterday.
00:02:20An excellent sprint race.
00:02:22Got a bit niggly between the two Mercedes teammates
00:02:25and then Jamie Chadwick and Martin Bundle.
00:02:27Arguably the best qualifying of the year.
00:02:29I really enjoyed yesterday.
00:02:31It was a classic day of Formula One.
00:02:33As you say, an exciting sprint race
00:02:35and then one of those punch and counter-punch,
00:02:38last driver over the line sort of qualifying sessions as well.
00:02:42And today, I think it's going to be every bit as challenging.
00:02:45Yeah, I mean, as we say, as we're speaking now,
00:02:47I mean, you've got the brolly up,
00:02:48but vastly different conditions today, Jamie.
00:02:51Yeah, not just is this rain a big thing.
00:02:52It's very windy, very gusty, especially into Turn 1.
00:02:55I think that's going to make the racing very difficult.
00:02:57But these cold conditions, tyre warm-up, energy deployment,
00:03:00all these things George Russell probably doesn't want to hear,
00:03:02but it's going to make it very challenging.
00:03:04Even if it is dry, it's going to be a challenging race.
00:03:06Let's go back.
00:03:06Let's take you back, in case you missed it yesterday,
00:03:09to the sprint race.
00:03:10And there was almost a coming together
00:03:11between the two Mercedes teammates.
00:03:14And Kimi Antelan, he felt hard done by.
00:03:16Should he have been?
00:03:18No, I don't think that was a penalty for George.
00:03:21It was nip and tuck.
00:03:24But I think if you go around the outside like that,
00:03:27you're going to have to expect to be squeezed a little bit,
00:03:29whichever team you're driving for.
00:03:31But a little bit, probably earlier on,
00:03:34coming into the final chicane,
00:03:35George didn't leave him a whole lot of space either.
00:03:37But that's round one of many.
00:03:39We can be absolutely sure about that this season
00:03:42because those two are really up for the championship.
00:03:43Yeah, you mentioned it.
00:03:44You just felt like it could...
00:03:46You know, things have changed now as a result of that.
00:03:48I think there's no doubt about that, yes.
00:03:50And they had to calm Kimi down, didn't they?
00:03:52All the way into the pits, basically,
00:03:54at the end of the sprint.
00:03:55And, yeah, Toto saying,
00:03:56stop moaning over Team Radio.
00:03:58We'll save it for the debrief.
00:03:59But they came out.
00:04:00I think it's one of those things in the heat of the moment.
00:04:03Definitely.
00:04:03And I think, yeah,
00:04:04Toto wants to manage that internally.
00:04:06He doesn't want to have all the dirty air laundered on the radio.
00:04:09But equally, I think it was an important move for George
00:04:11because if he let Kimi drive around the outside of him in that moment,
00:04:14I think that would have changed the face of this championship.
00:04:16And it keeps it alive.
00:04:17It keeps it exciting for us.
00:04:19Yeah, but as I mentioned at the beginning,
00:04:21sports so often, we talk about momentum.
00:04:23Kimi has it.
00:04:24George needed to stop it.
00:04:25He did, especially at a track that he likes, yeah.
00:04:28But psychologically,
00:04:30it was absolutely essential that he won yesterday
00:04:33and he stuck it on pole again.
00:04:35And he needs to do the same again, I think,
00:04:37in the World Championship
00:04:38because Kimi Antonelli, despite being 19 years old,
00:04:41is showing no signs of any weakness out there at the moment.
00:04:45He's relentlessly fast
00:04:46and really, you know, not making mistakes under pressure either.
00:04:50OK, quick look then at the drivers and constructors
00:04:54after four races and three sprints.
00:04:58And the gap was narrowed yesterday by George Russell to Kimi Antonelli.
00:05:02He was 20 at the start of the day, now 18.
00:05:04Charles Leclerc, 25 points behind that.
00:05:07And then five further down to Lando Norris,
00:05:09who's now ahead of Lewis Hamilton by four points.
00:05:13They were tied coming into the weekend.
00:05:14And then Oscar Piastri, the two McLaren drivers,
00:05:16have locked down the second row of the grid.
00:05:18Max Verstappen starts from sixth today.
00:05:21He's seventh in the championship.
00:05:23The rest of the top ten made up by
00:05:25Oli Behrman, Pierre Gasly and Liam Lawson.
00:05:28It's been quite the weekend so far for Arvid Limblad.
00:05:30Picked up his first point since his debut in Australia
00:05:34and has elevated himself to 12th.
00:05:36Just behind Franco Colopinto,
00:05:37who got into Q3 for the second consecutive race.
00:05:40Still five to get off the mark, including Lance Stroll,
00:05:43who starts his home Grand Prix from the pit lane.
00:05:47In the constructors, Mercedes have a 77-point gap over Ferrari,
00:05:51then 11 further back to McLaren,
00:05:53and 74 down to Red Bull,
00:05:55which is the head of the midfield.
00:05:58Right, George Russell, pole sitter,
00:06:00swung by the sky pad last night to talk Karud through it.
00:06:05George Russell, two qualifyings in a row,
00:06:0768,000th of a second between you and Kimi.
00:06:09Did you know that?
00:06:10Well, Kimi mentioned it, but he's a numbers guy,
00:06:12so, yeah, incredible.
00:06:14Exactly the same gap as yesterday.
00:06:16Talk me through the lap,
00:06:17because there was a scrappy session until then for you.
00:06:20How was the final lap here?
00:06:21The final lap was super hooked up.
00:06:23You know, just going through turn one and two,
00:06:25the front just came in nicely through here.
00:06:27Often you're just sort of pinching this inside front tyre,
00:06:30got on the power, I sent it, and the grip was just there,
00:06:34and straightaway it gave me that confidence
00:06:36to, you know, brake deeper into turn three
00:06:38and hit the kerb and just, yeah, power through.
00:06:41And that's the first cue you get, isn't it?
00:06:42Because the previous time you said the rear wasn't with you,
00:06:44and now you know the car's there.
00:06:47I was looking here, your line,
00:06:49I mean, this is amazing judgment,
00:06:50because presumably your eyeline is already there, isn't it?
00:06:54Yeah, over here.
00:06:57Yeah, and it's brilliant to see how close you are to the wall there,
00:07:00but how was it over the kerbs?
00:07:02It's been a challenge,
00:07:03but it actually was better not using too much kerb there,
00:07:06and I just hooked up really nicely,
00:07:09and I was almost flat through the left as well,
00:07:10which was nice.
00:07:11And then on the previous round,
00:07:12we saw you struggling on the entry to this one.
00:07:15Were you a bit nervous?
00:07:17I was nervous.
00:07:17This was the one corner,
00:07:19so I'm going to take a bit of margin.
00:07:20I spoke with Lando.
00:07:21There's something a bit weird here at the moment.
00:07:23He said he wasn't actually using...
00:07:24Usually we could brake with the right wheels over the line.
00:07:28Right.
00:07:28Here, oh, I've just done that again.
00:07:31There I was a bit more conservative,
00:07:32used a bit more kerb than I wanted,
00:07:35but it set me up for a really nice exit through seven.
00:07:39Yeah, the traction here looked great.
00:07:41You looked like you really chased the front.
00:07:42That was annoying.
00:07:42I don't know who was ahead of me.
00:07:44I think it was Colopinto.
00:07:45Right.
00:07:45He went a bit wide.
00:07:46There was a bit of debris.
00:07:47I'm like, oh, God, this is the lap gone now.
00:07:49And every time I've kind of looked versus Kimi,
00:07:53you've been really hooked up, it seems, through eight and nine.
00:07:55Yeah.
00:07:56What was it like on this last lap?
00:07:57I don't know.
00:07:58It's a corner that I've forever been really strong
00:08:01and just so much commitment to throw it in
00:08:03because you're threading the needle.
00:08:05There's no room to miss the apex at all.
00:08:09You've got to really, really nail it.
00:08:11And then down to the hairpin,
00:08:12how much are you now thinking of the battery you need
00:08:15for the long straight to the chicane
00:08:17and also the final one?
00:08:18At this point, there's not really anything you can do,
00:08:20so I'm just thinking about trying to nail that hairpin.
00:08:23I got a bit of advice from Sebastian Vettel on that corner,
00:08:26so that was nice.
00:08:27What did he tell you?
00:08:28Go on.
00:08:28Just hook it up a bit tighter than I've been doing, so...
00:08:31When did he tell you that?
00:08:32I'm not going to go into details, but...
00:08:34I wanted people to see your hands
00:08:36because they look absolutely on the edge here.
00:08:38On the way in.
00:08:39And then at that point, you've got to get the judgment.
00:08:43Well, draw the line there.
00:08:44Well, I mean, it was at this point,
00:08:45the car's like, the rear's just drifting,
00:08:48so my steering doesn't move
00:08:49and the car's like four-wheel drifting to the apex,
00:08:53and I'm just hoping my rear tyres
00:08:54aren't going to clobber this kerb,
00:08:56and it just hooked up perfectly when I needed,
00:08:59and I just, yeah, nailed the apex.
00:09:02And then it'll snap there.
00:09:03Yeah, maybe actually my rear left,
00:09:05it took you there.
00:09:05Yeah, it looks like it.
00:09:06And then it's just head down.
00:09:08I actually came out four times up,
00:09:10so I had a good feeling,
00:09:11and then after the corner,
00:09:13yeah, because you crop it too soon,
00:09:15but there's a TV screen right just here
00:09:18on the entry of turn one,
00:09:19so straight away I saw there was two
00:09:22like Petronus green colours at the top,
00:09:24and I get a bit close,
00:09:25like, okay, I'll be either one or two,
00:09:27and then I see Russ.
00:09:28Oh, that's brilliant.
00:09:29So, yeah, that was my go.
00:09:30I'm really pleased for you,
00:09:31because it's been a rough few weekends,
00:09:34but you've looked absolutely on it.
00:09:36It was obviously spicy in the sprint.
00:09:38We're going to potentially have a wet race tomorrow.
00:09:41What, you know,
00:09:42have you guys thought about
00:09:43how you're going to go racing?
00:09:44Do you change the way you go racing
00:09:45after the sprint, or just crop off?
00:09:46I mean, the truth, you know,
00:09:47we're both fighters,
00:09:48and we're here because we've fought
00:09:49our whole careers
00:09:50to get to Formula 1
00:09:52against competitors.
00:09:53The number one rule is
00:09:54never crash with your teammate.
00:09:56We didn't do that this morning.
00:09:57We got close.
00:09:58It was hard racing,
00:09:59but we're not going to wave
00:10:00one another through,
00:10:01and if roles were reversed,
00:10:04it would have been the same.
00:10:05My reaction probably would have been the same,
00:10:08and that's as much
00:10:09as it needs to be, really,
00:10:10so, yeah.
00:10:12Well, that's music to our ears.
00:10:13Elbows out.
00:10:14Thank you.
00:10:14Well done, mate.
00:10:15Cheers.
00:10:15Thank you.
00:10:17Yeah, we can all agree with that.
00:10:19We love to see elbows out racing.
00:10:20Funnily enough,
00:10:21when we asked Toto Wolff
00:10:23whether they'd be imparting papaya rules,
00:10:25he said,
00:10:26no, we only eat the fruit,
00:10:27but we were the ones that invented
00:10:30rules of engagement.
00:10:31Yeah, he's talking back then
00:10:33with Lewis Hamilton
00:10:34and Nico Rosberg,
00:10:35but we've seen this.
00:10:36You know, there's two ways
00:10:37to go around,
00:10:37go about running a Formula 1 team.
00:10:39You have a clear number one
00:10:40and number two,
00:10:41or you get two top-line drivers
00:10:44and just handle the nuclear fallout
00:10:46from there,
00:10:47and that's exactly where
00:10:47Mercedes are at the moment
00:10:49and where McLaren have been
00:10:50for the last couple of seasons.
00:10:52I agree.
00:10:52I think it's obviously a situation
00:10:54Toto knows well,
00:10:55Mercedes know well,
00:10:56but they do need to get a handle on it
00:10:57sooner rather than later
00:10:59because I think the way
00:11:00that Kimi's going to attack this race,
00:11:02the gloves are going to be off,
00:11:03and at some point
00:11:04it's going to happen again,
00:11:05and then it'll happen again,
00:11:06and before that blood turns bad,
00:11:07I think they need to work out
00:11:09what their line of attack is
00:11:10for the rest of the season
00:11:11because the rest of the teams,
00:11:13unlike McLaren,
00:11:14don't seem too far away this season.
00:11:16No.
00:11:16One thing they do appear
00:11:17to have got sorted
00:11:19on the evidence of the sprint
00:11:20is their starts.
00:11:21Very much so.
00:11:22George, from just down here,
00:11:24poles on the left-hand side,
00:11:25he had about a 30-degree angle on,
00:11:28didn't he,
00:11:28because it's a real banana
00:11:30down to the first corner there
00:11:31and not very far,
00:11:33but George Russell
00:11:34was fastest off the line yesterday,
00:11:36so Mercedes have done
00:11:37a lot of work on that,
00:11:38but there is that very short run,
00:11:41but you can see just
00:11:42how curved it is,
00:11:43but you're right,
00:11:44Mercedes seem to have got
00:11:45on top of that problem.
00:11:46But that actually kind of
00:11:49neutralizes the threat
00:11:49from Ferrari,
00:11:50doesn't it?
00:11:50The fact that it is
00:11:51a short run down
00:11:52to the first turn.
00:11:54It does,
00:11:55but the interesting thing
00:11:56with Ferrari previously,
00:11:57and I think China springs to mind,
00:11:59is when the conditions were cooler,
00:12:00the restarts especially
00:12:01is where they could get
00:12:02on top of the Mercedes
00:12:04a lot better,
00:12:04and even though it's a short run
00:12:05and we didn't see it yesterday,
00:12:06I think the Ferraris
00:12:07for the whole first lap
00:12:08could be a problem today.
00:12:10One big thing about yesterday
00:12:12is Mercedes didn't use
00:12:13brand new medium compound tyres,
00:12:15McLaren did,
00:12:15I think that's what helped them
00:12:17stay right in the hunt,
00:12:18but what that also does
00:12:20is give Mercedes
00:12:21two new sets
00:12:22of medium tyres today
00:12:23if there's safety cars
00:12:24later on in the race
00:12:26and they need them.
00:12:26I don't think they'll need
00:12:27ice vests today.
00:12:28I think you need everything today,
00:12:30don't you?
00:12:32Right, this is the plan
00:12:33before lights out.
00:12:36At ten to eight,
00:12:37we'll head to the big top
00:12:38as Pierre Gasly
00:12:39and Isaac Hadjar
00:12:40went to Cirque du Soleil.
00:12:45We'll hear from the pole sitter
00:12:47George Russell
00:12:48at eight o'clock.
00:12:50How would you sum up
00:12:51your season so far?
00:12:52Definitely up and down,
00:12:53but as you said,
00:12:54we've been four races down
00:12:55and zero calls for concern,
00:12:57really.
00:12:58The pit lane is open
00:12:59for business at 20 past.
00:13:04Karun and Jamie
00:13:05will talk us round the track
00:13:06five minutes later.
00:13:10Martin's grid walk
00:13:11is at 25 to nine.
00:13:14And it's lights out
00:13:15for the Canadian Grand Prix
00:13:16on the hour.
00:13:28We're back now.
00:13:29It's a decent day yesterday
00:13:30for Isaac Hadjar
00:13:31within a tenth
00:13:33of his teammate
00:13:33Max Verstappen
00:13:34qualified in seventh.
00:13:36But Pierre Gasly,
00:13:37it was the worst qualifying
00:13:39of the year,
00:13:40down in 14th.
00:13:41Two of the Frenchmen
00:13:42on the grid
00:13:43here in Montreal.
00:13:44It's the home of Cirque du Soleil
00:13:46and they went to visit
00:13:47the top
00:13:48with Rachel
00:13:48early this week.
00:13:53Welcome, Pierre,
00:13:54Isaac.
00:13:55We're in Montreal.
00:13:56Did you know
00:13:57Cirque du Soleil
00:13:57originates from Montreal?
00:14:00Yeah, I just learned that
00:14:01five minutes ago.
00:14:02OK.
00:14:03Yeah.
00:14:03Every show
00:14:04that we see
00:14:04all over the place
00:14:05begins in this tent
00:14:06here in Montreal.
00:14:08And I've got a little
00:14:08surprise for you.
00:14:09They have a brand new show.
00:14:10I'm worried.
00:14:11Any time she says,
00:14:11she's got a surprise for us.
00:14:13Yeah, it is.
00:14:13It's something dodgy.
00:14:14We should worry now.
00:14:15Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:14:16Well, there's a new show
00:14:17going out around the world
00:14:19very, very soon,
00:14:19but it gets its premiere
00:14:20here tomorrow night
00:14:21and the performers
00:14:21are warming up right now
00:14:22and they've got some
00:14:23challenges for the two of you.
00:14:25Wow.
00:14:25Are you ready?
00:14:25Yeah.
00:14:26All right, let's go and find out.
00:14:33Iwe is our juggling expert.
00:14:36I think they both
00:14:37can do three already.
00:14:38They need to move to four.
00:14:40You throw it up
00:14:41and it takes a circle
00:14:42and again, before it lands,
00:14:43you throw the other one.
00:14:44But one higher than...
00:14:45Yeah.
00:14:45Exactly.
00:14:49Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:14:50Almost, almost.
00:14:51Yeah, you see,
00:14:52you got it.
00:14:53Oh!
00:14:54There you go.
00:14:54It looks good,
00:14:55but it's not controlled.
00:14:58What?
00:14:59I'm going to...
00:15:01Good job, guys.
00:15:01All right, let's go.
00:15:02Come on, do these two
00:15:03and then I throw the third one.
00:15:05You got that well.
00:15:06Yeah, I got this one.
00:15:06Who do you think
00:15:07was better at the juggling
00:15:08out of these two?
00:15:09Right now,
00:15:10I think it's pretty much a tie.
00:15:11Woo!
00:15:15This is the main stage
00:15:17you're walking out onto now.
00:15:19Wow.
00:15:19The first ever one, Kata.
00:15:20I trust you.
00:15:21If anything,
00:15:22we know where she lives.
00:15:24Reach up with both your hands.
00:15:27Pull with your arms to sit.
00:15:29Reach up again.
00:15:30Pull yourself to stand in.
00:15:31Yes, yes, yes.
00:15:32Get them underneath.
00:15:33Get them underneath.
00:15:34Yes.
00:15:35Hook those knees.
00:15:36Let's go.
00:15:38Yes, yes, yes.
00:15:40You're a natural.
00:15:40I'm starting the weekend
00:15:42the right way.
00:15:43I'll show you.
00:15:44Come on, let's go.
00:15:45I'm going to spin around
00:15:47one leg
00:15:49and take off the leg.
00:15:51Wow.
00:15:52And then you can try
00:15:54if you want
00:15:55to bring it into the center.
00:15:57Wow.
00:16:00Oh, my God.
00:16:00Wow.
00:16:01Keep one foot on the floor
00:16:02and spin it.
00:16:03Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:16:04Keep going more, more, more.
00:16:06Somehow,
00:16:06it was way more elegant.
00:16:09Come on, send it.
00:16:10Send it.
00:16:11I can't wait, wait, wait, wait.
00:16:12Yeah!
00:16:14Yeah!
00:16:14Yeah!
00:16:16Am I faster than you?
00:16:18No.
00:16:18Oh, I want to slow down now.
00:16:20Then you just put your feet.
00:16:22Yeah, exactly.
00:16:23I need a break.
00:16:24You're right.
00:16:25You need a minute.
00:16:26Wow.
00:16:27Elky, thank you very much.
00:16:28So who's our winner?
00:16:29Thank you.
00:16:29I'm going to go.
00:16:30I'm so sorry.
00:16:31Isaac, you killed this bill.
00:16:32Okay.
00:16:33Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:16:33Right, all to play for on the last one, Pierre.
00:16:36Now this is going to be the decider.
00:16:38This is Niall.
00:16:40And this is Tom,
00:16:41and they're going to teach you
00:16:42what you need to do.
00:16:43I'm moving out in a sec,
00:16:44like, in a few weeks.
00:16:45This is going to be really useful, right?
00:16:47Oh, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo.
00:16:52It's got a proper wobble on at the top.
00:16:54That is 20.
00:16:56That's 20 boxes.
00:16:58Oh, my gosh.
00:16:59Oh, my God.
00:17:01Wow, okay.
00:17:02I'm impressed.
00:17:02That is amazing.
00:17:04Wow.
00:17:04All right, let's give it a try.
00:17:06Hey, hey, hey, what's going on?
00:17:14Okay, I got another try.
00:17:15Another try.
00:17:22Take control before you take hold of it.
00:17:25Oh, my God.
00:17:31No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
00:17:35Come on, I want to try one more, one more.
00:17:36Another one?
00:17:37Yes.
00:17:40No, no, no, no, no.
00:17:42Yes.
00:17:42Yes.
00:17:43Yes.
00:17:44Yes.
00:17:50I was like, I've got to throw you the winner.
00:17:53Sorry, mate.
00:17:54Who's the winner out of these two?
00:17:55No pressure.
00:17:56I feel like you had more goes, but you were better in the beginning.
00:17:59Thank you.
00:18:00Oh, well done.
00:18:02Well done.
00:18:03Well done.
00:18:03Well done.
00:18:04Guys, thank you so much for that.
00:18:06Thank you.
00:18:07Very impressive.
00:18:07Well, we'll see you on this stage tomorrow night because you've got your place now in the
00:18:10show.
00:18:11Yeah, you're the one, huh?
00:18:12Yeah.
00:18:12You're the one signed up now.
00:18:14Yeah, he's going to watch.
00:18:15He's going to be throwing things from the audience.
00:18:17Yeah, except when you get the boxes.
00:18:18I'm going to throw.
00:18:19Yeah, exactly.
00:18:20Thank you so much, guys.
00:18:21It's been great fun with you this afternoon.
00:18:23And go well this weekend.
00:18:24Thank you.
00:18:25Thanks a lot.
00:18:29Some key life skills worked upon.
00:18:32And the fun doesn't stop there.
00:18:34There's Pierre Gasly.
00:18:35He's going for 14, guys.
00:18:36I mentioned that's his worst qualifying of the year for him.
00:18:40But he's a catcher.
00:18:41I think, hello, Bernadette.
00:18:42How are you?
00:18:43Nice to see you.
00:18:45Thank you.
00:18:46Yeah, let's talk about it.
00:18:47Because actually, when we look to Miami, he was really upset about the fact that he didn't
00:18:53qualify and couldn't get within a second of his teammate.
00:18:55And then back on it again yesterday.
00:18:57But still angry at himself afterwards.
00:19:00He is his harshest critic.
00:19:02He is his harshest critic.
00:19:03And I think that's maybe a young driver thing.
00:19:06We've seen it a few times, I guess, across George Russell and Kimi Antonelli as well.
00:19:11When there's issues that go wrong, I guess Max is straight into blaming the cars.
00:19:15Straight into seeing what they can do differently with the car setup, et cetera, et cetera.
00:19:18Isaac's a bit like, oh, I could have got more out of that.
00:19:21And I think from a strategy side, up and down the pit lane, every driver sees a tenth or
00:19:26half a tenth that they missed here, there, everywhere.
00:19:29And they think every other driver got their perfect lap.
00:19:31When actually, in reality, that's not true.
00:19:33I think he did underperform in Q3, though.
00:19:36He was fastest in Q2.
00:19:37And if you look at everybody else in the top ten, they found between three and six tenths.
00:19:41He did exactly the same lap time.
00:19:42So, you know, he made a mistake at the final chicane.
00:19:45He reckons it's about two and a half tenths.
00:19:47So, if you take that two and a half tenths away, he'd be in there with a McLaren.
00:19:51So, I think he's done a fantastic job this weekend, apart from that lap in Q3.
00:19:56Yeah, he's definitely mentally tough.
00:19:58The guys that have come in, the recent guys that have come in, you have to say that.
00:20:01What about Max Verstappen?
00:20:03Because, again, he was disgruntled yesterday.
00:20:05He just can't get on top of the car's handling.
00:20:07Yeah, he seems to be struggling, standard stuff for Max Verstappen.
00:20:11I think we've heard quite a few times complaining about braking, complaining about rear instability,
00:20:15complaining about downshift.
00:20:17So, lots and lots of bits of that car.
00:20:19Some of it just relates directly to downforce.
00:20:21But, you know, they made big setup changes for anyone who wasn't watching between the sprint and me in qualifying.
00:20:26And Max just said none of that worked.
00:20:28So, that's very detrimental for that, I think.
00:20:30I mean, I'm interested to see if they've done something for these conditions.
00:20:34You know, the track temperature is 16 degrees.
00:20:37That's a full 25 cooler than we had in, you know, the warm conditions on Saturday.
00:20:42So, I'd like to see if maybe they've done something to help him.
00:20:46Because he was clearly not happy with yesterday's conditions.
00:20:49Max, you never bet against him when you've got mixed conditions and a bit of water on the track.
00:20:53Well, you don't, but we understand it's just going to be this kind of drizzle, this wet rain, call it
00:20:58that stuff.
00:20:58It's the stuff that gets through to your bones, but it's not actually.
00:21:01I mean, it doesn't look like the surface is too affected by the moment.
00:21:04It's forecast to stay that way, I think.
00:21:06Yeah, that's largely it.
00:21:07But I think earlier in the Pitley, and we did have some rain,
00:21:09that it does look like it's making a little bit damper.
00:21:12So, it's hard to watch on the radar, this.
00:21:14Yeah, it really is.
00:21:15Okay, atmosphere building here in Montreal.
00:21:18Time for us to take a short break.
00:21:20On the other side of that, we're going to hear from the pole sitter, George Russell.
00:21:24It's been a good comeback weekend for the British driver after that hat-trick of losses to his teammate, Kimi
00:21:30Antonelli.
00:21:30That's next.
00:21:33I experienced a couple of team bosses who could only love one driver at one time.
00:21:38Yeah.
00:21:39Toto's not like that, is he?
00:21:40Toto is very different to a lot of team bosses in Formula One.
00:21:44Mercedes has never been a team to bring an update just to one driver.
00:21:47They always bring it together, and he's made it clear that there's equal opportunities.
00:21:51So, down to us to sort the rest.
00:22:00Many of your rivals have you down as the title favourite.
00:22:03If you have the fastest car, you will be fighting for the championship.
00:22:06With all this extra attention, you've really more eye than you are now that you are the title favourite.
00:22:12Take it as a compliment, I guess.
00:22:13This is my eighth season in Formula One.
00:22:19George Russell wins the Australian Grand Prix.
00:22:22Woo!
00:22:24For Mercedes, it's a 1-2 victory as Kimi Antonelli takes that second place.
00:22:29Melbourne won't define the season.
00:22:34Can you consider Kimi in a possible title fight?
00:22:49What just happened?
00:22:51Here we go.
00:22:52Victory.
00:22:53He's born in 2006, right?
00:22:55It's ridiculous.
00:22:56George is a killer.
00:22:58What makes him so good is that he never stops fighting.
00:23:06The youngest ever world championship leader.
00:23:08To win a championship, it's exponential, the effort that goes into it.
00:23:11Don't get ahead of yourself, it will come.
00:23:14It's turning out to be all that he was hyped up to me.
00:23:16George has got a fight on his hands.
00:23:17He's got this 19-year-old kid beating him.
00:23:19Oh, what is it going for?
00:23:30Absolutely nothing.
00:23:36Mercedes, very much the team to beat this year.
00:23:39If you're just joining us for the first time this weekend,
00:23:42well, you've missed a thriller, really.
00:23:44And that man, George Russell, has bounced back after that hat-trick of victories
00:23:48for his young teammate, Kimi Antonelli, who took sprint pole,
00:23:52then won the sprint, and then took pole in qualifying proper as well.
00:23:57But his teammate, just 68 milliseconds behind him,
00:24:02and they've locked out the front row of the grid again.
00:24:06Everyone trying to chase them down.
00:24:08The McLaren's in behind.
00:24:09Lewis Hamilton is one here at seven times.
00:24:12Starts from fifth.
00:24:13And we are an hour away from the start of the Canadian Grand Prix.
00:24:19Yeah, welcome to viewers on Main Event.
00:24:21It actually has been a thrilling weekend so far.
00:24:25It's been packed with action.
00:24:27We're hoping for more of the same today.
00:24:28As you can probably see from the conditions as well,
00:24:30it's much colder.
00:24:31It's windier.
00:24:32And there's a bit of rain around as well.
00:24:35So expect the unexpected.
00:24:36Why don't we hear from the pole setter,
00:24:38George Russell, caught up with Martin earlier this week.
00:24:47George, end of May, we're only at race five,
00:24:49but how would you sum up your season so far?
00:24:52Definitely up and down.
00:24:53I think starting in Melbourne, everything started as I hoped,
00:24:56and I think a lot of people expected.
00:24:58Obviously, a bit of bad luck in China,
00:25:00a bit of bad luck in Japan,
00:25:01and then a really tough race in Miami.
00:25:02So up and down.
00:25:04But as you said, we've been four races down
00:25:06and zero cause for concern, really.
00:25:08So there are 482 points available this season,
00:25:12assuming all the races happen,
00:25:14and we don't add another race back in.
00:25:16And you're 20 behind.
00:25:17That's not a big problem, is it?
00:25:19No, no, no.
00:25:20It's obviously, I hope we're in this championship fight
00:25:23and obviously going head-to-head with Kimmy,
00:25:25but we're so early stages in this season,
00:25:28and I know what I'm capable of,
00:25:29and I'm just going to keep everything the same.
00:25:31It's really not a big deal.
00:25:32Learn a huge amount from Miami
00:25:34because we've kind of all been so focused on the energy.
00:25:37You know, this year, all the teams,
00:25:39all the drivers, energy, energy, energy.
00:25:41We've kind of almost forgotten a bit about the tyres
00:25:43and the setup and things that have a major impact
00:25:46on the performance.
00:25:48The basics?
00:25:49The basics.
00:25:49Literally the basics of any race car.
00:25:51So that was just a bit of a reminder for us in Miami,
00:25:55and that was kind of needed, yeah.
00:25:57Safety car restarts,
00:25:59it seems like you've lost a lot of places
00:26:01that hurt you badly.
00:26:02The two Ferraris went past you.
00:26:03Yes.
00:26:03In China, Miami, a little bit the same.
00:26:06What's that all about?
00:26:07We're having really big issues
00:26:09with the battery to restart.
00:26:10Either some restarts have been too high in the pack,
00:26:14and we've had no boost from the combustion engine.
00:26:18Other times, I've reached what's called the harvest limit,
00:26:21so I couldn't harvest any more battery.
00:26:23Honestly, it's too complicated to even explain,
00:26:26but I think we've got some things to deal with it,
00:26:28and we saw in Miami Leclerc
00:26:31quite a unique restart.
00:26:32We're pulling the clutch, revving the engine,
00:26:34so everyone is sort of facing some challenges.
00:26:38In a 22-race season,
00:26:40how many bad weekends can you have
00:26:43and still be world champion, would you say?
00:26:45Well, for me, I think when you look back on a season,
00:26:48you define a bad weekend when you come away with zero points,
00:26:52not a weekend when you come away with 12 points.
00:26:54And even last year, I remember Max, before the summer break,
00:26:58finished eighth in Budapest, almost a minute behind the win,
00:27:01and then goes on to be on the podium every single race
00:27:03until the end of the year.
00:27:05So it's kind of my approach.
00:27:06You've got to keep on collecting those points.
00:27:08It's a really positive mental attitude you've got there.
00:27:11So that little fella is pointing at us.
00:27:14Did you expect him to be this good this soon?
00:27:18Because he's been fast and consistent, hasn't he?
00:27:21Yeah, he's been very quick.
00:27:22I mean, he was very quick last year.
00:27:23I remember Japan race three last year.
00:27:25He was leading a race at one point,
00:27:26and Miami, he was on pole, obviously, last year.
00:27:29But, you know, it's a long season, so he's a super driver.
00:27:34It's no real surprise for me, and, as I said, a long way to go.
00:27:36So Toto's been saying a lot of nice things about you,
00:27:40saying how determined, how aggressive you are,
00:27:43and very supportive through all of this.
00:27:45Because, obviously, there's loads of media about Max or this or whatever.
00:27:49You and Toto are rock solid, aren't you?
00:27:51Yeah, for sure.
00:27:51I mean, firstly, I don't read any of that
00:27:53because it doesn't bring anything,
00:27:55even the positive press doesn't really bring anything.
00:27:58And just focus on myself, and we have a super close relationship.
00:28:01We've been through the tough moments in the last, you know,
00:28:04four years trying to bring Mercedes back on top,
00:28:06and now we're in this position that we're fighting for wins week in, week out.
00:28:10So, yeah, as I said, all of that for me just takes a sound of noise.
00:28:14I experienced, in the past, a couple of team bosses
00:28:18who could only love one driver at one time.
00:28:21Yeah.
00:28:22Toto's not like that, is he?
00:28:24Toto is very different to a lot of team bosses in Formula One, as you know.
00:28:28So, Mercedes has never been a team to bring an update just to one driver.
00:28:32They always bring it together,
00:28:34and he's made it clear that it's equal opportunity.
00:28:36So, down to us to sort of the rest.
00:28:39Obviously, two pole positions here in the last two years.
00:28:42You won last year handsomely.
00:28:44You're a bit of a specialist around here, aren't you?
00:28:46I like it.
00:28:46It's a track that I like.
00:28:48It's, as I said, the cooler conditions help give those tyres
00:28:52and a better window, which just feels more intuitive to drive.
00:28:55And I feel like I can push for boundaries more on this track
00:29:00compared to others.
00:29:01So, you know, I hope that continues this weekend.
00:29:04George Russell, for the second year here in Montreal, wins the sprint.
00:29:08So, now it looks like it could be wet.
00:29:10And I know the Alpines drove in the rain in Maglicore
00:29:13a couple of weeks ago, and speaking with Gasly,
00:29:15he said it wasn't a pleasant experience.
00:29:17So, too much power for the grip.
00:29:20No, more of the tyres weren't quite good enough for the cars.
00:29:25Was that the wets or the inters?
00:29:26That was the wet, both.
00:29:27So, yeah, who knows?
00:29:30All bets are off if it's a wet race.
00:29:31Pretty much.
00:29:32No, you know, we haven't driven in the rain.
00:29:34Only the Alpine, I think Red Bull and Ferrari
00:29:36may have done some laps in the rain.
00:29:38So, we don't know what's going to happen.
00:29:39But from my side, I'm just focusing on myself.
00:29:42And I see myself as my biggest competitor
00:29:44because I know that if I tick all of my boxes,
00:29:47I know I can beat anybody.
00:29:49And that's what I just need to continue to do.
00:29:51Forget about the outside noise,
00:29:53not even pay any attention to that.
00:29:56Work with myself and my team and get the most out of it.
00:29:58Always a pleasure to talk to you.
00:30:00Cheers. Appreciate it.
00:30:06Well, in a weekend where he needed to be flawless for his own good,
00:30:10he has been, but I think he'd trade it all in,
00:30:13wouldn't he, Martin, for a win today?
00:30:15Yeah, it was very pertinent what he said back on Thursday,
00:30:18wasn't it, about if it's a wet race,
00:30:20then it's going to be tricky.
00:30:22Here we are with the umbrellas up,
00:30:23but you wouldn't say it's a wet track.
00:30:25But we saw George five, ten minutes ago.
00:30:27He seemed remarkably relaxed.
00:30:29I think all of the drivers will be very nervous of this.
00:30:32It's into the great unknown, a bit of a magical mystery tour.
00:30:36I think it's also because the wets and the intermediate tyres
00:30:39haven't really been developed for much less downforce
00:30:42that we're carrying, much less load on them
00:30:44that we've got this year,
00:30:45and they're really struggling to warm them up,
00:30:47and that's why they're allowed to put the inters
00:30:49up to 70 degrees in the blankets
00:30:51and actually put blankets back on the wets
00:30:54up to 40 degrees as well, give them half a chance.
00:30:57But the thing is, when you throw those inters on
00:31:00in the pit lane at 70,
00:31:01that's the warmest they're going to get,
00:31:03probably, around this track.
00:31:04So the further you go, it's like a vicious circle.
00:31:07You'll start losing temperature, go more slowly,
00:31:10lose more temperature.
00:31:11And so they've got a real challenge ahead of them this afternoon.
00:31:14Yeah, funnily enough, I just caught up with Tom Stallard,
00:31:17Oscar Piastri's race engineer,
00:31:19and he was saying exactly that that's going to be the key for them
00:31:22in trying to chase down the Mercedes as well.
00:31:24Because they've struggled this weekend, by the way,
00:31:26to get them up to temperature, get them working, haven't they?
00:31:29They have.
00:31:29I think it's going to be a lot about tyre temperature,
00:31:31but it's also going to be staying out of trouble.
00:31:33This place doesn't, well, it punishes you
00:31:35if you're going to make a mistake.
00:31:36And these conditions do look tricky.
00:31:38It's not an insignificant amount of rain.
00:31:40Equally, I don't think it's intermediates yet.
00:31:42It looks at the moment to be slicks,
00:31:44but just very, very difficult.
00:31:45So it's going to be a challenge for all the drivers,
00:31:47all the teams.
00:31:48Staying out of trouble is going to be very important.
00:31:50It's probably George and Kimi's worst nightmare,
00:31:52having conditions like this
00:31:53when they seem to have quite a dominant car.
00:31:55But equally, I think it's just going to be a mix
00:31:57of staying out of trouble
00:31:58and getting these tyres up to temperature.
00:32:00Yeah, I know we talked about it a little bit earlier,
00:32:02but for viewers on Sky Sports' main event
00:32:04who might just have joined us now,
00:32:06with regards to this dynamic in the garage behind us,
00:32:10how has it changed over the last few weeks?
00:32:13Well, they've both got a chance
00:32:14of a world championship that's bound to change.
00:32:17And they're both very fast,
00:32:19and they're going to end up fighting
00:32:21over the same piece of tarmac
00:32:24on a number of occasions
00:32:25for the rest of this year.
00:32:27And so it's just going to...
00:32:30This is going to be an action replay, I think,
00:32:32with George and Kimi.
00:32:34And it will...
00:32:34We know how it ends up.
00:32:36We know how the story ends.
00:32:37It'll come to blows.
00:32:38It'll come to running into each other somewhere.
00:32:40Well, we talked to Toto Wolff yesterday.
00:32:42Look, what he doesn't want to do
00:32:44is he doesn't want to have
00:32:45a Rosberg-Hamilton situation.
00:32:47But these drivers have both come through
00:32:49the Mercedes Young Driver programme.
00:32:51I feel like he's kind of got...
00:32:54I mean, maybe I'm wrong.
00:32:55A little bit more control over these two
00:32:57than perhaps he might have done
00:32:59for Nico and Lewis.
00:33:01I hope he does in a way.
00:33:02But for us, it would be great
00:33:03to see a battle like that again.
00:33:05I mean, equally, yeah, he does...
00:33:07They don't want to do what McLaren did either.
00:33:09They don't want to over-control it,
00:33:10over-complicate it with papaya rules.
00:33:12I think they want to have a situation
00:33:14where they can allow them to race,
00:33:15race freely, but not take each other out,
00:33:17which is easier said than done.
00:33:18OK, let's hear from Kimi Antonelli
00:33:20talking with Rachel.
00:33:23Now, Kimi, you've just added another layer
00:33:24and put a jacket on right now.
00:33:26What sort of forecast have you and the team seen?
00:33:30I mean, we're seeing a bit of everything.
00:33:32It's a bit hard to predict what's going to happen.
00:33:37It was meant to rain all morning up until race time,
00:33:42but now it seems to be holding on.
00:33:45But, yeah, it's definitely very cold,
00:33:47very windy, very gusty,
00:33:49which is going to be a big topic today.
00:33:52The wind, it rotates quite a lot
00:33:55compared to yesterday, so a lot different.
00:33:58And then, you know, cold, so tired temperature.
00:34:02And, I mean, the temperature, tire temperature,
00:34:04you just mentioned it there, it is much colder.
00:34:05George was saying to me yesterday about it.
00:34:07What have the team done?
00:34:08What can you do differently
00:34:09to try and get these tires up to temperature now?
00:34:11Because we're a harder compound as well
00:34:12than we were here before.
00:34:13Yeah, I mean, it's not easy.
00:34:15Of course, in the warm-up, in the formation lab,
00:34:17you try to do as much work as you can do
00:34:20with weaving and braking and stuff,
00:34:23but you can't do so much in one lap.
00:34:27And even in a push lap,
00:34:28they barely get up to temperature.
00:34:30So it's going to be important to, you know,
00:34:33just trying to extract the maximum out of it.
00:34:35Also, during the first few laps,
00:34:37trying to build as much temperature
00:34:39without, of course, graining the tire
00:34:41because that's another topic, graining.
00:34:43So, yeah, it's going to be interesting,
00:34:45very, very challenging.
00:34:46But first of all, let's see
00:34:47what's the weather going to be like.
00:34:49And I was going to say,
00:34:50if you do get them up to the perfect temperature,
00:34:51the start, I know we've talked to you
00:34:53about them a lot this year,
00:34:54but yesterday was better.
00:34:56I mean, finally, finally,
00:34:57I'm in team position yesterday,
00:34:58so it was good, yeah.
00:35:00Right.
00:35:00And then what about the race itself?
00:35:01Any words this morning from Toto to you both?
00:35:04No, I mean, we had a meeting yesterday
00:35:05and we clarified about everything,
00:35:07so now it's all good
00:35:08and very excited for the race.
00:35:10Let's see what we can do.
00:35:11Hopefully a good result for me
00:35:14and, you know, for the team in general.
00:35:16Here's your teammate behind you.
00:35:17I better let you go.
00:35:18Thanks, Kimi.
00:35:19Thank you very much.
00:35:20Thanks.
00:35:22It's always really interesting
00:35:23to watch the development of drivers
00:35:25when they come into Formula One.
00:35:27He actually got a commercial flight back,
00:35:29Karuna and I,
00:35:29well, the same one as him back from Miami.
00:35:31I was thinking,
00:35:32we actually said,
00:35:32take a picture of this
00:35:33because this won't be happening forever.
00:35:35But he's very grounded.
00:35:37How have you seen him change this year,
00:35:39particularly over the last three races?
00:35:42I think what's impressive
00:35:43is obviously he had a really tough time last year
00:35:45where a lot of people were saying,
00:35:47oh, it's too early,
00:35:47he shouldn't be in this guy,
00:35:48he shouldn't be in Formula One yet.
00:35:50But he's managed to get through that
00:35:52with a lot of help.
00:35:53He's got a lot of big support structure around him,
00:35:55as do all the drivers in Formula One these days.
00:35:57They're very lucky in that respect.
00:35:59But, you know,
00:36:00to keep his head and come back and shine.
00:36:03And then we saw Lando hunting him down in Miami,
00:36:06for example,
00:36:08a kidney of last year
00:36:09would probably run off the track somewhere.
00:36:11But this year,
00:36:11he's just rock solid.
00:36:12And that kind of progress at his age
00:36:16is just quite extraordinary.
00:36:18Gemma, what's your take on him?
00:36:19As a driver,
00:36:20I mean,
00:36:21knowing him as we do,
00:36:23we know he's a bit of a practical joker as well
00:36:24in the garage.
00:36:26But he's extremely popular on that side
00:36:27as well with this enthusiasm,
00:36:29like a spaniel.
00:36:30I'm not surprised, yeah.
00:36:31He's a bit of a young puff in a way, isn't he?
00:36:33He's come in with this amazing energy.
00:36:34And I think the team have really enjoyed that,
00:36:37appreciated that.
00:36:37But he's also got the performance, clearly.
00:36:39I think even the fact he's half a tenth of George here,
00:36:42track George loves, knows well,
00:36:44he's pushing him so hard
00:36:45and not really making that many mistakes now.
00:36:48So I think we spoke about it a lot last year.
00:36:50Is he a generational talent or not?
00:36:52I think time will obviously tell,
00:36:53but he's definitely exceeding my expectations anyway
00:36:56for this season.
00:36:57His second year in Formula One,
00:36:58he started however many years ago racing,
00:37:01but it's such a fast track journey that he's had
00:37:03that the fact that he's got to this point
00:37:04and he's competing at the level
00:37:06that he's competing at
00:37:06with the way Formula One is now,
00:37:08which is so complex,
00:37:09is super impressive.
00:37:10OK, again, in case you weren't watching
00:37:12earlier on Sky Sports F1,
00:37:14let's have another look at the incident
00:37:15from the sprint race.
00:37:17Now, this one wasn't deemed to be a penalty.
00:37:20Can you explain why, Martin,
00:37:22and that kind of interaction
00:37:24between the pair of them?
00:37:26Because your front axle has to be
00:37:29slightly ahead at the apex,
00:37:31wherever the students decide the apex is.
00:37:34Momentarily, he was right there,
00:37:35but you're talking of a few frames on the camera.
00:37:40And the way it all plays out,
00:37:41he wasn't entitled to racing space on the outside.
00:37:45The driver on the inside is entitled
00:37:46to take the racing line,
00:37:47as long as his car's under control.
00:37:49They were both under control.
00:37:52But Toto said to us,
00:37:54of course, you know,
00:37:55I said if it had been Lando on the inside,
00:37:57would you have been on to the race director?
00:37:59Of course we would have, yeah.
00:38:00So, I mean, it was marginal,
00:38:02but I think it was absolutely the right call.
00:38:03That was the cause of frustration,
00:38:05but he calmed down very quickly,
00:38:07and he got back on point for qualifying.
00:38:09And I think that's what was quite impressive about him.
00:38:11He could have stayed hot-headed.
00:38:13He was complaining about on the radio.
00:38:14Toto, you know, quickly shut him down on that.
00:38:16But then, obviously, to rebound,
00:38:18as he did in qualifying,
00:38:19he's going to be fired up today for the race, though,
00:38:21and I'm excited to see what he can do.
00:38:22Okay, here's a quick recap of the weekend to date.
00:38:29Lights out, away we go.
00:38:31And Russell does get away well.
00:38:33Antonelli may be a little bit slower,
00:38:35but he's covered off Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.
00:38:38Into the first corner we go.
00:38:40Antonelli gets ahead, goes off the track.
00:38:42George Russell manages to keep that lead.
00:38:45Don't worry, don't worry.
00:38:47Off again, Antonelli, and he's going to lose a place.
00:38:50Let's just get his back on control, Kimi.
00:38:52Driving.
00:38:52I don't care.
00:38:53You're quickly off.
00:38:54Antonelli makes the move,
00:38:55but overshoots the corner.
00:38:57George Russell crosses the line and wins.
00:39:00Lando Norris ahead of Kimi Antonelli
00:39:02to take second place.
00:39:04We need to race like this.
00:39:05That's good enough.
00:39:06Kimi, we talk about this internally
00:39:08and not on the radio, okay?
00:39:10For the third time in a sprint,
00:39:12George Russell a winner.
00:39:14We're looking to drop six out of qualifying here.
00:39:19Bottas, big look up.
00:39:21You can see the flat spot on his tyre there.
00:39:25Last stroll.
00:39:26The Montreal boy is out of qualifying.
00:39:29We'll occupy the back row along with Valtteri Bottas.
00:39:31Albon 18th and Esteban Ocon didn't make it through for Haas.
00:39:38Pierre Gasly is going to be out-qualified again
00:39:42by his teammate, Franco Colopinto.
00:39:46The bottom six, Behrman, Sainz, Gasly,
00:39:50Bortoletto, Lawson.
00:39:51Nico Hülkenberg qualifies 11th.
00:39:55Kimi Antonelli, who's got three pole positions
00:39:58in the last three Grand Prix.
00:40:00Trying to make it four in a row.
00:40:02Antonelli does go fastest.
00:40:06Can Lando Norris snatch pole position?
00:40:09No, he's on the front row.
00:40:13Here in Montreal, is it four poles in a row for Russell?
00:40:16Well, it is by the nearest hundredths of a second.
00:40:19What a brilliant qualifying session.
00:40:21That was pure class from the lot of them.
00:40:24George Russell, Antonelli pushed him hard here.
00:40:27It's the most exhilarating feeling in the world
00:40:30when it comes last minute out of nowhere.
00:40:33Good job.
00:40:38Quick whiz through the grid then, as we mentioned.
00:40:41A third consecutive pole position here in Montreal
00:40:43for George Russell, converted it into a win last year.
00:40:46Kimi Antonelli, Mercedes locking out the front row of the grid.
00:40:4968 milliseconds between them.
00:40:52Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri make up
00:40:54an all McLaren second row.
00:40:56Then Lewis Hamilton, who's taken pole here six times
00:40:58and won seven.
00:41:00That's the same record as Michael Schumacher,
00:41:02the most successful driver around this track.
00:41:04Max Verstappen alongside him on the third row of the grid.
00:41:07Not much between himself and he's a catcher.
00:41:1028 milliseconds to be precise.
00:41:12Charles Leclerc had an incident with an unfortunate groundhog,
00:41:16which cost him his day.
00:41:18Arvid Lindblad, that equals his best ever qualifying performance.
00:41:22He got a point in sprint as well.
00:41:24Franco Colopinto into Q3 for the second consecutive race.
00:41:28Nico Hülkenberg started 11th,
00:41:30sixth out of the eight races or sprints this year so far.
00:41:35Liam Lawson alongside him.
00:41:36Then Gabriel Bortoletto.
00:41:37Pierre Gasly's worst qualifying of the year.
00:41:39Carlos Sainz and Ollie Behrman in 15th and 16th.
00:41:43And right at the back, Lance Stroll at his home Grand Prix
00:41:47is starting from the pit lane.
00:41:49Talking of pit lanes, let's go to Ted.
00:41:52Thank you very much, Simon.
00:41:53Yes, the Canadian Grand Prix,
00:41:54the one with all the straights and the chicanes,
00:41:56but the one with the weather today as well.
00:41:59And both Red Bulls and a Mercedes
00:42:01have just gone out on intermediate tyres.
00:42:03We've got everyone down here.
00:42:04Look, we've got a spotter from the Haas team.
00:42:06They're radioing in to the pit wall
00:42:08as to what tyre everybody is going to the grid on.
00:42:12I can see Valtteri Bottas with a set of intermediates as well.
00:42:17And Carlos Sainz playing it safe.
00:42:19And the pole sitter.
00:42:21That's interesting.
00:42:22George Russell trying out the intermediate tyre going to the grid.
00:42:25I would have said that this is not wet enough by far for the intermediates,
00:42:30but I guess it saves a set of tyres going to the grid
00:42:34if you try the intermediates out now.
00:42:36They'll probably come into the pits and then try the soft tyres,
00:42:39just like Arvid Lindblad starting there.
00:42:42But is this Grand Prix also going to be known as Kimi's Revenge?
00:42:46After being muscled out at the start,
00:42:49trying to overtake George Russell
00:42:51and then outbreaking himself in the sprint race yesterday
00:42:53and then trying to get his teammate George Russell a penalty,
00:42:57he's got 70 laps to try again.
00:43:00If it stays dry, the best idea is to start on the medium,
00:43:04go to between laps 21 and 27,
00:43:07put the hard tyre on and go to the end.
00:43:09But the soft tyre not only gives you good warm-up
00:43:11in these cold conditions at the start,
00:43:13but it's a raceable tyre.
00:43:15You can put that on between laps 17 and 23,
00:43:18put a pit stop in and go to the hard tyre and go to the end.
00:43:22But David Croft is in the commentary box for us
00:43:26and Lance Stroll, the only Canadian driver on the grid
00:43:29starting from the pit lane.
00:43:31But you never know with this rain, Crofty,
00:43:33there might be a few others who decide
00:43:34on a late tyre change before the off.
00:43:37It could be a busy pit lane, to be honest.
00:43:39One safety car could foresee another safety car
00:43:42and another safety car after that.
00:43:45Yeah, intermediate tyres being switched on Max Verstappen's Rebel.
00:43:50It's too dry for intermediates as it stands at the moment,
00:43:53but the rain, it's just spots and spits that are falling on this track.
00:43:56It is, though, as cold as a moose's ankles here in Montreal today.
00:44:00Air temperature is 12 degrees, track temperature 17 degrees.
00:44:03These tyres are not going to warm up properly throughout this race.
00:44:08But Red Hot so far this weekend, George Russell,
00:44:10the top five on the grid, line up exactly as they did for the sprint.
00:44:15And George Russell 68 milliseconds ahead of his teammate Kimi Antonelli
00:44:18as it was for sprint qualifying as well.
00:44:21Big lock up here, Franco Colopinto going into the hairpin.
00:44:24We might see more of that today
00:44:25because the tyres cool down on the long straights
00:44:28and they don't warm up much through the slow corners.
00:44:30There's not any fast corners here to get some heat generated into those tyres.
00:44:35Kimi Antonelli is going for four Grand Prix wins consecutively
00:44:38to try and become the first driver ever to win his first four Grand Prix in a row.
00:44:44He has won his maiden three Grand Prix in a row from his first three Grand Prix starts.
00:44:48He's the only driver ever to do that.
00:44:51The McLarens were only 52 milliseconds apart.
00:44:54Lando Norris ahead of Oscar Piastri for the second time this weekend.
00:44:57This man here, Nico Hülkenberg, qualified 11th.
00:45:00Of course he did.
00:45:01Eight qualifying sessions so far this season
00:45:03and he's qualified 11th in every six of those eight.
00:45:07Lewis Hamilton beat his teammate Charles Leclerc in qualifying.
00:45:10He's on row three with Max Verstappen.
00:45:13Max off the front row here for the first time since 2019.
00:45:16And since 2004, this race has been won from pole 11 times,
00:45:20second four times, sixth twice and seventh twice.
00:45:23Never from third, fourth or fifth on the grid,
00:45:26which is probably not great news for Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri or Lewis Hamilton.
00:45:31It's a shivering day here in Montreal.
00:45:32How are you coping, Simon?
00:45:35Worse than you.
00:45:37That can't be true.
00:45:39Yeah, it is.
00:45:40Now, I know it's baking hot back at home.
00:45:41You're probably in the right place because it is, as Goughlin said, freezing down here.
00:45:47However, there are some dark clouds above us.
00:45:51And I think viewers are hoping there might be some rain today.
00:45:54It could mix things up.
00:45:55Certainly Mercedes won't be hoping for that
00:45:57because they know that their car at the moment is the class of the field.
00:46:01McLean, though hot on their heels, will be live on the grid next.
00:46:11Welcome back.
00:46:12We're talking about the lack of temperature for the tyres this weekend,
00:46:17and particularly today, and evidence of that already.
00:46:20That was Charles Leclerc locking up on his way into the hairpin.
00:46:23Same for Lando Norris down at Turn 10.
00:46:26It just shows you how tricky it is going to be today.
00:46:30Right, let's get into some hardy souls out there today.
00:46:35Lots of Lewis Hamilton fans, as you'd expect here.
00:46:38But, yeah, let's go round the track, shall we, with the help of Karun and Jamie.
00:46:43Jamie, since it was your birthday this week,
00:46:45I've organised a hot lap for you around the circuit.
00:46:47Are you excited?
00:46:48Sounds good to me. I'm driving right?
00:46:49No, you're too young for the insurance. This is what I've got.
00:46:52Well, you can show me the way initially.
00:46:55So, Jamie, they're on to Turn 1. It's curved straight.
00:46:58This is where we obviously saw the McLarens coming together last year.
00:47:01It's tricky because it's like the one really combined brake zone, isn't it?
00:47:05You're kind of turning as you're hitting the brakes hard into Turn 1,
00:47:08and it's where you first find out if you've got the grip that you want after
00:47:11what's going to be a tricky out lap, I think, with preparation for the tyres.
00:47:14Are you crying? Are you just so happy?
00:47:16It's the wind. It's because you're driving so fast.
00:47:17You're so happy with this hot lap I've organised.
00:47:19Well, it's not particularly hot lap because it's actually freezing here in Canada at the moment.
00:47:23Even the geese have come out. Do you see?
00:47:25Very cool. Canada geese.
00:47:27It's a short straight, but with this, I'm interested to see this year's cars.
00:47:32Because they accelerate so quickly.
00:47:33So, last year, they could get near the 50.
00:47:36This year, with the acceleration, it might be a bit dicier.
00:47:39And also an opportunity to recover a bit of energy because it's hard to pass here.
00:47:43So, you use a lot in that back straight. You're going to recover a lot, obviously, into one or two.
00:47:47You're going to be here, don't you?
00:47:48Exactly.
00:47:48Right up by the wall.
00:47:49Crack usage is always nice.
00:47:50Up by the wall, down here, ooh, watch the 50.
00:47:51This is where I think Kimi Antonelli is going to be right up against that wall,
00:47:55because his crack usage is always on the limit, sometimes over the limit.
00:47:58Oh, my God, I'm getting eaten a lot.
00:48:01That is not going to be...
00:48:02Did you get some in your eye?
00:48:03Yeah, I think I ate half of them.
00:48:05The most famous thing about Turn 6 has got to be Jenson Button.
00:48:09Jenson Button.
00:48:10It is, isn't it?
00:48:11I said it and you got it.
00:48:12Yeah, it is incredible.
00:48:14Turn 6, that race that he had from last to first, I've got to know how many pit stops he
00:48:18did.
00:48:19Longest race, longest race ever, no?
00:48:20Longest ever race.
00:48:22I spent five hours with the Croft in the country box.
00:48:26I'm just going to stop here for a second, because the traction out of here, I think this year,
00:48:32they've got less downforce.
00:48:34More power.
00:48:35Exactly.
00:48:36I think it's going to be tricky.
00:48:37If you look at the line through here, there's some odd camber.
00:48:40It's more camber than you think, isn't it?
00:48:41Yeah.
00:48:41It kind of drops away as the track goes off, and combined traction as well,
00:48:45with all of that power this year that they have.
00:48:47Exactly.
00:48:47And we've seen people touch the kerb with the rear right wheel,
00:48:51and it just spits them off in a barrier on the outside.
00:48:54It's a much trickier section than I think people realise.
00:48:57Shall we keep going?
00:48:58Let's do it.
00:48:58Can I drive now?
00:48:59Yes, you can drive.
00:49:01Hey.
00:49:01Happy birthday to me.
00:49:02Happy birthday to you.
00:49:05Yeah, we see a lot of people use the get-out-of-jail car, don't we?
00:49:10Yeah.
00:49:10Because they can't get it stopped in time, and then you're in this weird situation of
00:49:14you get on that sausage kerb and keep going.
00:49:16Yeah.
00:49:17And that's the thing.
00:49:17The other chicane, you can use more kerb and get the car rotated.
00:49:20Here you can get up to the sausage kerb, but that is going to be nothing.
00:49:26Get on it.
00:49:26Get on it.
00:49:26Get on it.
00:49:27Yes.
00:49:28Oh, it's not too bad.
00:49:29Try the other one.
00:49:30Try the other one.
00:49:31Try the other one.
00:49:31There we go.
00:49:33To me, coming down to this hairpin here, I only think of Robokowice,
00:49:38sliding down the wall in Monaco.
00:49:40But, year after, we've got redemption.
00:49:43This is true.
00:49:44Won the race.
00:49:44This is true.
00:49:46I think this year, we're going to see the gains with the energy.
00:49:50Yes.
00:49:50Because you have a run from turn nine to here.
00:49:54Then you've got a really long run from here to the chicane.
00:49:58And then another long run into it.
00:49:59Exactly.
00:50:00Definitely, the overtake isn't completed if you've done it here.
00:50:03I think you're going to have to wait until at least exit of turn two
00:50:06until you know if that has been done or not.
00:50:08Jamie, look.
00:50:09It's a groundhog.
00:50:10Can you give me your best David Attenborough impression here?
00:50:12The groundhog is planning his escape route for lap seven of the Grand Prix
00:50:17as the cars come bearing down on him.
00:50:21So, into the last chicane.
00:50:23You know, I remember Lewis' first ever win, that 2007 Grand Prix.
00:50:28Yep.
00:50:28And on that final run of qualifying, he smacked that kerb and hopped up
00:50:32and landed, he launched himself out.
00:50:34It was one of the most extraordinary things I've ever seen.
00:50:37We can't quite see it because of these barriers here.
00:50:39But the judgment you need through those kerbs is so important.
00:50:43If you get it wrong, you're in the World of Champions.
00:50:46And however you attack that first kerb is how the rest of the corner
00:50:49is going to play out for you.
00:50:50A lot of the best laps I've seen are the ones where they,
00:50:53obviously don't hit it too hard, but they glance it.
00:50:55And that's like the tiny margin, I guess, you need for a perfect lap.
00:51:00All right, there you go. Your first look at the track.
00:51:01Thank you. Good birthday present.
00:51:04Shall we go get some cake?
00:51:05Yes, please.
00:51:06What do you like?
00:51:07Have a cake. What's your cake of choice?
00:51:13Yeah, you've definitely got to watch the wildlife here, don't you?
00:51:15Remember the seagulls with Sebastian Vettel all those years ago
00:51:19and Lewis Hamilton and the groundhogs on top of that.
00:51:23And actually a couple actually have been very unfortunate so far this weekend.
00:51:26One for Alex Albon caused the crash and then Charles Leclerc yesterday.
00:51:30Let's hope we don't have a repeat of that.
00:51:31But nevertheless, we're talking about just the intricacies of this track.
00:51:35You pointed it out there, but it's technically quite difficult.
00:51:38Very difficult. I think for many reasons.
00:51:40I think one is just how many technical corners there are.
00:51:44It's very slow speed chicanes, some fast chicanes.
00:51:46Also, you've got the walls to contend with.
00:51:47The fact that it's a street track generally means it's quite dirty.
00:51:50It evolves a lot.
00:51:52And then historically the cars have been quite low downforce.
00:51:54So then that in comparison to the car that they've driven in the last few Grand Prix's
00:51:58is actually very different in the feeling that's required.
00:52:00So there's always a compromise in terms of car setup.
00:52:03But also for the drivers, it's really hard to put it together.
00:52:06To get the lap clean, perfect and execute is not the easiest track by any means.
00:52:11If it is to be wet at one stage, what are we going to see that's different about these cars,
00:52:16Bernie?
00:52:16Yeah, I think the difference in the wet compared to previous cars.
00:52:20We've not had a wet session so far this year.
00:52:22I think that's the first thing to say.
00:52:23Well, big changes are simple ones.
00:52:25We're now going to have blankets on the wet tyres.
00:52:28So that's not something we've had even at the beginning of this year.
00:52:31That's one thing.
00:52:32The second thing is the straight mode that gets activated in four different points around this circuit in dry conditions.
00:52:41It's only going to be active in three points in wet conditions.
00:52:45So the third one, which is into the hairpin turn 10, that won't operate in wet conditions
00:52:50because that has a turn through that straight, if you like.
00:52:53Do you want me to hold that whilst I ask you a question?
00:52:55Because otherwise I don't know how you're going to do both there.
00:52:57There we are.
00:52:59Yeah, let's get into McLaren.
00:53:00I mean, did you think in the sprint George was managing it or do you think that actually after four
00:53:06laps, you can see how hard it is now?
00:53:08See?
00:53:08That was a bit of a, like, you're trying to show me how strong your wrists were and there you
00:53:13go.
00:53:13I just wanted to get your microphone up.
00:53:15Okay, sorry.
00:53:16Yeah, no, with regards to that, did you think that they could have the same sort of pace as Mercedes?
00:53:21Not in these conditions.
00:53:23I think it's anyone's game in these conditions.
00:53:24I think it's going to become very tricky for the drivers.
00:53:28Yesterday, I think George was managing in terms of trying to hold Lando behind and keep him ahead of Kimmy
00:53:33in all honesty.
00:53:33But McLaren closed that gap and even in qualifying, they closed the gap.
00:53:37So, I think conditions today are going to be the biggest thing.
00:53:40Who can switch the tyres on?
00:53:41Who's confident?
00:53:42Who can get the most out of it?
00:53:43Who won't make a mistake?
00:53:44And it's also windy and gusty and there's going to be a lot out of their control in this race.
00:53:48Quick reminder of last year, though, with regards to McLaren when they were chasing it down and, you know, this
00:53:55was four laps to go and the crash between yourself and Lando.
00:53:59I wonder if they'll be reminded of that coming into the week.
00:54:02Yeah, I think all drivers will go through what happened at this event last year.
00:54:07Particularly, they end up going through the starts, but they'll go through incidents like this on safety cars.
00:54:11This is going to be a race of reaction.
00:54:13The safety car probably will come into play, 80% chance a year.
00:54:17And this wind, tailwind into the hairpin, that's going to be tricky for the drivers.
00:54:21Yeah, I just asked Bernd, actually, whether he was expecting a busy day.
00:54:23He said yes.
00:54:25And quite often you do get safety cars around here.
00:54:28Right, as you say, wind is gusting, it's chilly down here, but Martin's in position for his gridwalk.
00:54:35I am indeed just cuddling these Ferrari tyres here, basically, because their blankets are nice and warm.
00:54:43Anterior Sinistro, front left there.
00:54:45And there's a lot of tyres on the grid.
00:54:48That's going to be a tough gridwalk, actually, because the teams and the drivers are absolutely full-on trying to
00:54:54work out what to do next.
00:54:55You can see they're allowed to heat the intermediates and the slicks up to 70 degrees.
00:55:00You can see them all bang on 70 here for Ferrari.
00:55:04These four tyres for a couple of hours only.
00:55:08And the way it says Bernie was describing up to 40 in the blank, 40 degrees C.
00:55:14So when they, the problem is, they need to be at least 70 to sort of work.
00:55:18And ideally, in the corners and that, they need them over 100 degrees C.
00:55:24But as they trundle down the pit line, or of course, do the warm-up lap, the tyres start losing
00:55:29temperature.
00:55:29And that is the problem.
00:55:31I mean, it's an absolute no-brainer.
00:55:33Slick tyres, as you would even dream of putting any intermediates on, on this particular track here.
00:55:40As we go past the red bull of Max Verstappen.
00:55:43This sort of feels like his kind of day, doesn't it?
00:55:46Max always seems to have a bit of a sixth sense for where the grip is.
00:55:50And this is, unquestionably for me, this is going to be a day of survival as to who can get
00:55:58to the end of this Grand Prix
00:55:59with all four wheels still attached and pointing in the same direction.
00:56:04That is going to be the main job today.
00:56:07We'll keep wandering forward and see who we can trip over.
00:56:10And we'll hope to catch some drivers a little bit later on when we watch them all get off the
00:56:16grid.
00:56:16We know they put their headphones on, talk to the factory.
00:56:20And today will be, as I say, a much more intense one.
00:56:22Pablo, are you working? How are you?
00:56:25All right?
00:56:25Yeah, good. You having fun?
00:56:27Loving it. You know what I mean?
00:56:29I think this is going to be an amazing race because of the conditions.
00:56:32As you see, the sky is getting wetter and wetter and wetter.
00:56:35And I think somebody is going to risk maybe intermediaries.
00:56:38And being in the front here with no reference, it's so easy to make mistakes.
00:56:45Isn't it?
00:56:45Let's see.
00:56:46You seem to have upset the Verstappens.
00:56:49Anything new there?
00:56:51Okay, right.
00:56:53Juan Pablo has been quite punchy on it.
00:56:56And so, yeah.
00:56:59How are you?
00:57:00Very nice to see you.
00:57:01We'll keep moving down.
00:57:02This little sticker gets us under the rope.
00:57:05That is a genius little thing a little bit later on.
00:57:09Let's see if we can, let's see if we can find, here's Lance.
00:57:14Lance, what's it like out there?
00:57:16What sort of grip?
00:57:17The wind conditions and everything?
00:57:19No grip.
00:57:21Well, you got it right.
00:57:22And there must be some grip.
00:57:23It came back here.
00:57:24But I know what you mean.
00:57:25In racing terms, even just at out-lap speeds?
00:57:29Yeah, it's tricky because with these tires, it's so hard to build tire temperature.
00:57:33And with these cold conditions and the rain, you're just not getting the tires in the working windows.
00:57:39So that's going to be the challenge today.
00:57:40I think it's getting the tires up to temperature and finding some grip out there, which is pretty hard to
00:57:46find.
00:57:46But we'll see how we go.
00:57:47But you're missing a bit of power.
00:57:48Maybe that won't be so important today.
00:57:52Everything's important.
00:57:53Power, downforce, it all adds up.
00:57:55Have a good one.
00:57:56Obviously, at his home Grand Prix.
00:58:00Let me just work out where I am.
00:58:01I'm in front of Kimi Antonelli and I am beside George Russell.
00:58:06So we'll keep mooching around.
00:58:08I don't think we want to go under the rope just yet.
00:58:12We've got three and a half minutes left.
00:58:14Maybe we will then because there'll be some...
00:58:17We will then.
00:58:18We'll go through because I can't actually see actually anybody here at the moment.
00:58:23There's Kimi Antonelli with his umbrella just coming...
00:58:26Sorry about that.
00:58:27Just coming out the front.
00:58:28Can you get through here, Kieran?
00:58:30We'll keep mooching through.
00:58:33And thank you very much.
00:58:36Didn't even have to go under the rope.
00:58:37There's George.
00:58:38We've had a lot of George's time.
00:58:42So I think we've had plenty of George's time today.
00:58:45Unless he loiteres around there anymore.
00:58:48And then we'll grab him.
00:58:49Let's see if we can wait for a driver.
00:58:53Yeah.
00:58:54Is this Emily?
00:58:56Here.
00:58:56Hi.
00:58:57Emily Hampshire.
00:58:58Hi.
00:58:59Stevie Buttercourse in Schitt's Creek.
00:59:01Lovely.
00:59:01You like a bit of Formula One, aren't I here?
00:59:03Yeah.
00:59:04I'm basically a driver now.
00:59:05They gave me a shirt.
00:59:06I saw the engineers and I brought this for you.
00:59:09Came all the way here to bring...
00:59:11It's a Canadian chocolate coffee crisp.
00:59:14Oh, thank you.
00:59:14Do you know, I've never been given a gift on the grid before.
00:59:17That's really lovely.
00:59:18Thank you very much.
00:59:19It's really good.
00:59:19Other brands available, I'm sure.
00:59:22So you're with Mercedes this weekend.
00:59:24So either of those two you're cheering for or just generally for the team?
00:59:30Well, so...
00:59:32Both of them.
00:59:33Like, I can't decide between Kimi.
00:59:35See, Kimi and...
00:59:37Oh, they both signed your cup.
00:59:38Yeah, yeah.
00:59:39So I can't...
00:59:40They're both going to win anyways.
00:59:42They're the best.
00:59:43Lovely to talk to you.
00:59:44Thanks for supporting Formula One.
00:59:47Let's see if...
00:59:49Sergio, what can you tell us about the track?
00:59:52It's really in the middle.
00:59:53Really hard choice between the Inter and the Slick Tire.
00:59:57I think if the rain were to pick up a little bit more, it would be a little bit clearer
01:00:01than the decision.
01:00:02But, um...
01:00:03So is it more wet out the back then than it is on the grid here?
01:00:06Because it doesn't look...
01:00:07Inter's here.
01:00:07Yeah, it's worse over there at the back into Turn 10, into the chicanes.
01:00:13But I think as cars are running, it will be a little bit clearer.
01:00:16Okay.
01:00:16Thanks for your time.
01:00:17We've got a minute.
01:00:18We've got a minute 30 to the grid.
01:00:23So we'll see if we can...
01:00:24Here comes Franco Colapinto.
01:00:26I think one of his big mates, Bizarap, is here somewhere.
01:00:28Franco, you've got about a minute.
01:00:30I'll walk with you.
01:00:30All good.
01:00:31How's it feeling?
01:00:32You're really getting on form in this Formula One business.
01:00:35Slippery.
01:00:35Very slippery.
01:00:37Slippery.
01:00:38It's very slippery.
01:00:39I think they're all getting a little bit nervous.
01:00:43Isaac, all good?
01:00:47It's going to be slippery.
01:00:55It's going to be slippery.
01:00:58We'll see if we can come up with any more words.
01:01:02The drivers are there really.
01:01:04If I was on the grid, I'd be so nervous because it's so easy to crash a car, especially around
01:01:10this racetrack because the walls are so close.
01:01:12You can see how cozy this grid.
01:01:14I love, I love, I love this grandstand overlooking this.
01:01:19I think we've got Fernando and Max.
01:01:22Let's see if we can grab a quick word.
01:01:23Quick word, Max.
01:01:25All good.
01:01:25Yeah, slippery one wet.
01:01:27Slippery one wet.
01:01:29Slippery one wet.
01:01:29Slippery one wet.
01:01:30Yeah.
01:01:30I'm lucky in this.
01:01:32We've got a bit of a league table there as to who can come up with the slipperiest phrase.
01:01:37But we've got ten seconds to go.
01:01:39It is a wonderful Grand Prix.
01:01:41I'm really looking forward to seeing what these amazing drivers can do.
01:01:45It's time for the anthem.
01:01:573.
01:02:02Slippery one wet.
01:02:074.
01:02:11Slippery one wet.
01:02:154.
01:02:1511.
01:02:1611.
01:02:1612.
