00:29After successful screenings at Walt Disney World,
00:32the Captain Eo film flew into the Magic Eye Theater in Tomorrowland in the fall of 1986.
00:38The look of the film and its plot drew themes from such movies as Alien,
00:42Star Wars, and even Wizard of Oz,
00:44but it was the film's remarkable cast that garnered the most attention.
00:48Michael Jackson, the world's biggest recording star at the time,
00:52portrayed the title of astronaut and Oscar-winning Angelica.
00:55Houston played the galaxy supreme ruler.
00:58The late Dick Shawn played Captain Eo's commander,
01:01who only appears in shaky holographic form at the beginning of the film.
01:05George Lucas was executive producer and Francis Ford Coppola was director.

01:11Special effects were done by Industrial Light & Magic Company.
01:14Guests wearing the requisite 3D glasses watched objects jump out at them
01:19and laser beams fire over their heads while Jackson's music filled the theater.

01:49Disney launched the movie with a star-studded premiere in 1986
01:52and the making of a television special called Captain Eo backstage in 1988.
01:57Mylar balloons were not allowed in the theater due to the lasers bouncing off of them.
02:02The name of the little furry, flying, long-tailed creature is Fuzzball.
02:06To celebrate the premiere at Disneyland, the park remained open for 36 hours continuously,

02:14External effects inside the Magic Eye Theater included lasers shot over the audience members' heads
