00:00You mentioned Otani.
00:01What do you think Dave Roberts and Andrew Friedman,
00:04the general manager of the Dodgers, are thinking right now?
00:06Do you think they still want him to be a two-way player,
00:10or do you think they miss his bat in that lineup?
00:13I know you just mentioned it, 073 ERA.
00:17The guy goes out there and throws 102 BBs out there on the hill.
00:21I mean, but do you think they're there yet?
00:24Because, again, I mean, he's not having that great a year so far at the dish.
00:28Do they need him more in the lineup, or do they need him more on the hill?
00:34You know, I was discussing, I believe, with Gabe Marenzi the other day.
00:38We were talking about MVPs.
00:40Otani's still the easy MVP, all right, because you look at his numbers.
00:44You already mentioned his pitching numbers.
00:45They're great, right?
00:45He's a fantastic, great pitcher here.
00:47All right, his offensive numbers, he's not going to hit 50 home runs,
00:51but he's probably still going to end up with high 30s.
00:54You know, he's still going to bat, you know, decent batting.
00:56Marenzi's batting 270 or what, eight right now, so that'll be fine.
00:59He's going to have 90 ribbies.
01:01All right, it's not MVP, but you're talking with his pitching,
01:04and those numbers, by the way, you're going to bat 270 at 35 home runs,
01:08driving 90 runs, you know, score, I don't know, 90, 100 runs.
01:12Those are great numbers.
01:13They're just not Otani numbers, all right?
01:15But it's fantastic.
01:17I think the Dodgers are going to let him do both for now.
01:19Could this change at some point as he gets older?
01:21Sure, it could.
01:23I think what we've seen the last couple of starts here,
01:25I know his last start he did bat, but before that he didn't.
01:28He took a couple of starts where he didn't play, didn't bat.
01:31I can see that.
01:32He doesn't play, you know, he doesn't bat six, seven times a week.
01:35They do give him more rest here, which I think is smart for several reasons.
01:38One, he's pitching.
01:39Two, getting older.
01:40You know, and three, you're not playing for the regular season, Dodgers,
01:43right?
01:43You're playing for the playoffs.
01:45That's what you care about.
01:45We know you're playing in October, so you want to make sure he's 100% ready to go
01:49in October, so yeah, he's not having the batting numbers that we're accustomed to,
01:53but they're still pretty damn good numbers here,
01:56so I'm not worried about Otani's batting at all.
01:58I don't think the Dodgers are either,
01:59but I think they will rest him more than we've been accustomed to.
02:02I happen to agree with you.
02:03I think that Otani's the best player in baseball.
02:05I think that Otani's the best player in baseball.
