02:38Hello everybody and welcome to this episode of the Pro-Wrestling Podcast
02:43Look, we're gonna jump right into it tonight
02:44We've got a lot going on
02:45And Saturday night's main event is getting ready to kick off
02:48And before that gets going
02:49We want to address the news and rumors of the day
02:51First off, Adam Copeland
02:53Formerly known as Edge in WWE
02:55He was doing an interview with Clutch Points
02:57Where he hit on some major, major, major, major talking points
03:01One of those that kind of surprised me a little bit
03:04Was the fact that he seems like it was such a no-brainer
03:07To leave WWE and go to AEW
03:11He made reference to the point that when he left WWE
03:14He felt like he had done everything he could
03:16His three best friends in the industry worked at AEW
03:19He said that they all said they were having a blast
03:21And he said, sign me up
03:22It was a no-brainer
03:23On top of that, he felt like he was really interested in the AEW roster
03:28Specifically, he felt like he had kind of done everything he could do in WWE
03:31He had already worked with pretty much everybody who had been there
03:34And with AEW, he'd have a chance to step in the ring with people like Kenny Omega, MJF
03:38Other talent that he had never had that chance to do
03:41Keeping in mind, we're heading into tomorrow night at Double or Nothing
03:46Where he and Christian Cage, formerly just Christian
03:50The two of them, Edge and Christian in WWE
03:52Are going to be reuniting to take on FTR for the World Tag Team Championship
03:56In an I Quit match with careers on the line
03:58He actually made reference
04:00He said, if you said 10 years ago that we're going to get Christian and Copeland together as a tag
04:04team
04:04And they're going to face FTR and AEW in an I Quit match
04:08Where the careers are on the line for the tag team titles
04:10You'd go, well that sounds awesome
04:11But that's clearly not going to happen
04:13Because two of those dudes are retired, Copeland explained
04:16He said, yet, here we are, it's all gravy
04:18So, he's got to be very, very thankful
04:21He's had the opportunity to come back and do all these things this late in his career
04:25After having to, you know, be forcibly retiring earlier in his career
04:29And all that
04:30It's great to see him get this opportunity with AEW
04:33Some fresh matches, fresh opponents
04:36Getting to do some more with Christian
04:38They had separated for quite a long time
04:40I was always frustrated when Christian came back at the Royal Rumble the one year
04:44During the COVID pandemic
04:45And he got that, that really, that shock return in the Royal Rumble
04:48And he obviously could still go and WWE did nothing with it
04:51And then he shows up in AEW
04:52Kills it there
04:54Does a great job there
04:55Does a great job in TNA
04:56Again, wins the TNA World Heavyweight Championship
04:58When they had their brief partnership with AEW
05:00And now, I mean, if you think about it
05:03They've done quite a bit since being in AEW
05:06Despite having some pretty significant times off
05:09That being said, Adam Copeland spoke also on that interview
05:15That he is not even sure what his contract status is in AEW
05:20Again, he was doing the interview with Clutch Points
05:22And they spoke about his contract
05:24And the quote from them is
05:26I'm not even sure when it's up, he said
05:28When he signed in 2023
05:29His contract was reported to be for multiple years
05:32And then they go on to state that
05:34This time, it'll be my choice
05:36And that makes it a different experience entirely
05:37He said before explaining
05:39He didn't want a big, tearful send-off
05:41Like the last time he was forced to retire
05:45One of the things he did mention is
05:46Is that based on the fact
05:48That he did have some injury time off
05:50And he left to record two movies
05:53Percy Jackson was one of them
05:54There was another film
05:56Off the top of my head
05:57I'm not remembering the name of
05:59That when he was off filming
06:00That it made it so that there was time
06:02Added to his contract
06:03So he's not even sure when his contract is up
06:05But whenever it's up
06:06It'll be up to him to decide
06:08When he wants to walk away
06:09Leave on his own terms
06:11And do everything that he wants to do
06:12In the world of professional wrestling
06:13Before doing that
06:14On the same topic
06:16The AEW side of things
06:17Mick Foley making his big debut
06:19Tomorrow night for AEW
06:20And seeing the conversation
06:24On Wrestling Observer Radio
06:26Related to Mick Foley's appearance
06:27And Dave Meltzer speculating
06:29As to whether or not
06:31Mick Foley's ever going to
06:32Wrestle in AEW
06:33And I love
06:34Look I know there's a lot of people
06:35Give Dave Meltzer a hard time here
06:37But I think he says it perfectly
06:38His quote is
06:39He says
06:40I don't know exactly the full role
06:42MGF has always wanted to work with him
06:44I don't know that he can do a match
06:46He may try
06:47He would love to
06:48I just don't know if it's possible
06:50I mean for MJF
06:52Working an angle with Mick Foley
06:53The angle itself with the promos
06:55It could be incredible
06:56As far as can he do a match
06:58I don't know
06:59I mean I know when he was
07:00Training for a comeback
07:01Like a year ago
07:02I just heard that he was
07:04Getting hurt pretty bad
07:05Doing very minor things
07:06So it didn't seem like a good idea
07:09There was an interview in April
07:11Where MJF
07:12You know
07:12Was very open and honest
07:13About the fact that
07:14He had reached out to Tony Khan
07:16And asked if he could work
07:17A program with Mick Foley
07:18Back in 2025
07:20And it was obviously something
07:21That they were interested in
07:22And Foley was doing
07:23Everything he could
07:24To get himself ready
07:25And in shape
07:25To be able to make that match happen
07:27But after going to the doctor
07:29And having some tests run
07:30And things of that nature
07:31And again
07:32Like they said in the report
07:34Very basic wrestling holds
07:37And maneuvers
07:38He was getting injured
07:39Having difficulty
07:40So that's why they
07:41Kind of put the kibosh on it there
07:42His last match
07:43As of right now
07:44Was a Royal Rumble
07:46Appearance in 2012
07:47And his last actual
07:48Like singles match
07:51Oddly
07:51They put this one
07:52Into your trivia book
07:53Was against Ric Flair
07:54In TNA
07:55In 2010
07:57So it's been a hot minute
07:58You're talking about
07:58A 16 year lapse

08:31That in the past

08:33They basically
08:34Would make a name
08:34For themselves
08:35On the independent scene
08:36And whenever they
08:36Were called up to
08:37NXT or Evolve
08:38Or something like that
08:39WWE would provide them
08:41With a new
08:41WWE copyrightable name
08:43Well that is no longer
08:45The case
08:45According to the report
08:47The name
08:49And it's
08:49Any established identity
08:51That the
08:53Well I guess you would
08:54Consider them
08:54Former independent wrestlers
08:56Come into WWE with
08:57Is no longer allowed
08:58To be used
08:59After signing

09:14About it before
09:14They always change
09:15People's names
09:15Because they want to
09:16Own all the
09:16Intellectual property
09:17And it's kind of
09:19Stuck up of them
09:19To go that route
09:20But it is what it is
09:21A lot of businesses
09:22Do this kind of thing
09:23People like to hang
09:23On to intellectual property
09:24It's odd for people
09:26Like Chris Jericho
09:27And people like that
09:28To go out there
09:29And always be able

09:34And a lot of companies

09:54Really has the opportunity
09:55To do that
