00:00In other news, the Orange County Fire Authority in Southern California, United States, ordered the mass evacuation of tens of
00:07thousands of residents in parts of six cities,
00:09giving the certainty that a large storage tank containing thousands of gallons of a highly toxic and volatile chemical is
00:16about to fail, catastrophically or explode.
00:19The crisis, which has been ongoing since Thursday after a leak of methyl methacrylate, was detected at a highly flammable
00:27liquid used in the manufacture of aerospace acrylic plastic.
00:32GKN Aerospace, a manufacturer of components for commercial and military aircraft, forced the activation of emergency protocols in the cities
00:39of Garden Grove, Cypress, Tanton, Anaheim, Buenapark and Westminster.
00:44On Friday morning, the situation became critical when a faulty valve clogged by the corrosive agent, which prevented the product
00:52from being removed or neutralized.
00:57This afternoon, the positive news is we have been able to keep the tank temperature maintained.
01:05The primary one that's in crisis and has been damaged, we've been continuing our water curtain on it, and our
01:14active monitoring has showed that the temperature of it is stabilized and buying us time to continue to sort out
01:22how do we fix this.
01:24So in this situation, our biggest concern is when this chemical reacts and the temperatures rise, it can cause a
01:31vapor.
01:32And my biggest concern is that if that vapor goes into the air and people inhale that, it causes significant
01:38damage.
01:39We'll start with some part of it, that we're not doing this matter right now.
