00:02Good evening. Tonight we're going to be spending a little bit of time doing what we're calling
00:07Ranmu Pan in depth. So we're going to take a specific topic and we're going to drill into it
00:14pretty deep to go over the details. All the videos that we've posted previously
00:20have been videos where we were really just trying to demonstrate the techniques that were part of
00:24the Ranmu Pan curriculum and that's the intent of those videos is not to teach anybody anything but
00:31to show those that have some experience the set of techniques that we use as part of our curriculum.
00:38But we thought we would take a moment and go over some of the details finer details that we
00:44really reinforce in Ranmu Pan when it comes to some of these techniques. So the first one we're going
00:49to spend a little time on is going to be just your standard arm bar. So this is where
00:54he grabs me, I turn, I grab and down he goes. Why does he go down? He has a choice.
01:01I'm either
01:02going to break his elbow or he goes down so he doesn't break his elbow. But there's a lot going
01:06on here. So when a person grabs onto you and we're going to show it from the grab, from the
01:12punch,
01:12from the chest and a bunch of different areas. When a person grabs onto you, the hand that's being
01:17grabbed is considered the driver. The other hand that's riding along is going to be, excuse me,
01:24driver and grab. So this hand's job is to grab and get a perfect grip. This hand's job is to
01:30drive
01:31this hand where you want it to go. So when I get started, the first thing I'm going to do
01:36is try
01:36to connect this into my rib side, bend my knee so that I can get my elbow below and turn
01:42it to the
01:43outside. This starts the process of turning that hand. Then, David, why don't you come in here a little
01:49closer? You can see this. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to lay my hand on here
01:54for the ride.
01:54When I do that, this bone that is on my thumb is going to be riding on the last index
02:02finger bone
02:03on his hand. Not extremely painful, but uncomfortable enough to where it makes him want to turn his hand
02:08out to the side, which is exactly what I want. This hand, like I said, is now the driver. As
02:14a driver,
02:15this job is to drive this hand all the way over to my chest and maintain thumb control. We're going
02:23to
02:23see that a little closer or a little better here. This hand's job is to get the perfect grip. So
02:28as I
02:29go and I start the driver, driving, driving, and then it's pushing, pushing into that thumb.
02:33And lo and behold, look what happens. See how his palm is now free from my hand, allows me to
02:40reach
02:40in and get that perfect grip. Now, if I take my hand out, you can see I've pinched my fingers
02:46into
02:46his palm. My thumb is still on that bone back there, putting pressure on. With this hand in,
02:52the driver, I still have thumb control. I turn this all the way over and I continue to drive it
02:57till it
02:57locks onto my chest. I want it onto my chest just past the center point. When I'm here, because I've
03:05got the thumb control, look what happened. His arm is straight, his elbow is locked already, and it's
03:11prime and ready for me to slide over and get an arm bar. Ron and Quan were mean, so we
03:16slide right over
03:17that thumb, which gives him a nice, nice little tweak. When I tried to get my elbow on his elbow,
03:24I see a lot of places where they're putting their wrist on the elbow, forearm on the elbow. We have
03:31a little dent in our elbow right here. He has a dent right there. My goal is to get my
03:36dent on his dent.
03:38That gives me maximum pressure. When I'm here, when I push, it relies on the strength of my arm.
03:44This takes the weight of my body and allows me to put all my weight on. Then I'm going to
03:51step forward.
03:52When I step forward, I've got him locked up. I'm still locked on my chest. In order to put pressure
03:58on his elbow, all I do is bend my knee. I don't bend over like this because when I do
04:03that,
04:04this hand goes down too. I bend my front knee and down he goes. Okay?
04:14So key elements, driver, grabber, making sure that I get that perfect grip, making sure that I get the elbow
04:23on the right spot on his elbow, making sure that I bend my knee to apply my weight, not bending
04:29over
04:29my body. Let's go ahead and look at that as though he throws a punch. He's going to throw a
04:36punch,
04:37and I'm going to block. What is this hand? This is the driver that's bringing the hand around where?
04:42Right into my other hand for the perfect grip. What's this hand's job? Gripper, get the perfect grip.
04:48My hand is right on the back, same bone on bone, and fingers into the palm. This hand, what's it
04:56do?
04:56Does it give up? No, it drives it all the way to my chest. I'm locked onto my chest, elbow
05:03on elbow, and
05:05down he goes. When we do the tall person, when I'm in here and I come in and I grab
05:16here, let's do that
05:17from the other side just because we're going to turn invisible. When I do this here and I come in
05:21here,
05:23everything up until everything is the same. Thumb on bone, bone on bone. Turn that thumb in, drive that thumb,
05:32your wrist into the thumb. Get the perfect grip. Then hit, slide over, reach under. Same technique.
05:40If he is grabbing my shoulder or grabbing my chest. What's the driver now?
05:49Hand on, bone on the bone. Mildly uncomfortable. This hand is just resting. Shoulder drives. I got the
05:58perfect grip. All right, and in order to get that shoulder drive, I'm using my legs to popcorn it over.
06:06Elbow on elbow. Down he goes. Okay? So that is the overhand grip. We also do natural grip. So now
06:33I'm
06:33going to come in here. So there's a little dent here in the wrist. That's where I want my fingers.
06:40I see a lot of techniques online where people are grabbing and doing an arm bar and they're grabbing
06:44here. That's just an experience to me. Anybody is going to be wanting to make sure that they get that
06:51grip right in the bone. So there's no place it can go. Once again, I got a driver. What's it
06:58do? It drives
06:59it to my hip. Palm on hip, locked in, elbow straight, elbow on elbow, step forward, bend the elbow. Okay?
07:10So all those techniques, and there's more arm bars, but I just wanted to make sure that we understood some
07:16of the key elements. Number one, you always have a driver. Something this job is to make sure the hand
07:21gets where you want it to be. The other hand's job is always going to be get the perfect grip.
07:28You want to make sure you've got a good grip. If I've got a grip like this and I'm doing
07:32an arm bar,
07:32it's just going to slide right out and nothing's going to happen. I've got to have a grip that's going
07:36to lock him to my chest, put pressure on his arm so that when I've got it on here,
07:42put pressure on, it straightens that elbow. If I got no pressure, he's just going to be here and we're
07:47going to be fighting. I can take that and quickly fix it by putting pressure on my chest and straightening
07:55out that arm. So that's just a little detail, in-depth look at making sure that when we do arm
08:04bars,
08:04whatever they're coming from, from a punch, from a grab, natural overhand and there's others,
08:09but I've got to make sure that I've got that key element of a hand that's driving me to where
08:14I
08:14want to go and the other hand's job is to wait, wait, wait until they get that perfect grip
08:18and then lock it to my chest, my hip, elbow dent on his elbow dent and drop that knee and
08:29that's going
08:29to snap their elbow or if they go to the ground, it'll make them roll.
