00:03This is Tricia. She's been told she looks like Connie Stevens.
00:07We showed her videotapes of these three single men, and she picked one as her date.
00:11Which one did she choose? Which one would our audience choose?
00:14And this is David, who says that women are easy to get along with, but hard to understand.
00:19Which one of these women did he choose? Which one would our audience choose?
00:23Today on Love Connection, you'll find out who they picked, who the audience picks,
00:27and everything that happened on their dates. Now, here to tell us more about Love Connection
00:32is our host, Chuck Woolmery.
00:42You know, there are more than 60 million single adults in the United States,
00:45so here on Love Connections, we've got a new way for singles to meet, and here's how it works.
00:49We've compiled a video library of hundreds of attractive and available single people.
00:53We then select some of those singles and show them three videotapes.
00:57After they watch the tapes, they choose the one they're most attracted to and go out on a date.
01:01Then, they come here and tell us what happened on the date.
01:04Now, to begin with, we're going to meet a woman who selected a date from our video library.
01:08She was raised in Pittsburgh.
01:10She likes men who wear cologne and three-piece suits.
01:13And she says nothing embarrasses her.
01:15Please welcome Tricia Morris.
01:20Hi, Tricia.
01:21Hi, Chuck.
01:22How are you?
01:23I'm really fine.
01:24How are you?
01:24Good to see you.
01:25You sit down.
01:26Nothing?
01:27Tricia, nothing embarrasses you?
01:29Nothing embarrasses me, Chuck.
01:32Now, you own a limousine service, is that right?
01:34Yes, I do.
01:34And you meet a lot of men through your work?
01:37I meet a lot of men no matter what I do or where I go.
01:42I do a lot of traveling also, so...
01:44How do foreign men compare to American men?
01:47Well...
01:48Tell the truth now.
01:48It was like this, Chuck.
01:50Okay.
01:50I couldn't wait until I got to Europe because, you know, you watch all these movies and,
01:55you know, you see about all this romance.
01:58Sure, yeah.
01:59And the European men just seems to have so much more sort of affair, right?
02:03Well, I want to tell you something.
02:04After being there and checking out the attitude and the consciousness of the European men,
02:09I'll take an American man any day.
02:12What a girl.
02:16Based on Tricia's preferences, she was shown videotapes and questionnaires of three men.
02:20Now, we're going to show you a portion of the tapes that she saw, and you in the audience,
02:24and at home, too, watch very closely because we're going to ask you to pick the man that
02:28you think is best for Tricia, okay?
02:30First, there was David.
02:31David's from Northern California.
02:33He likes to sing, roller skate, and ski, and here's what else he likes.
02:36I love my feet being massaged.
02:39And I love to share acupressure and talk.
02:42And I love to spend time on the beach doing things that are physical, intellectual.
02:47There's next was Dwayne.
02:49He was raised in Africa.
02:50He has a brown belt in karate, and he tells us what kind of woman he likes.
02:54Let's say the stereotype, real beautiful blonde with a perfect figure.
02:59You know, you're thinking about a tan.
03:01That's nice.
03:02I think the main thing is the girl is just attractive.
03:07And, you know, attractive enough so that you aren't embarrassed to be with her.
03:12And finally, you watched Warren.
03:13Now, he was raised in New York.
03:14He says he's not interested in anyone with children.
03:17And here's how he approaches women.
03:19I'm very friendly.
03:20I'm very open.
03:21If I see someone I would like to meet, I like to approach them and talk about myself,
03:27talk about her, let her know that I find her attractive and interesting, and I'm single
03:33and would like to meet you.
03:35Okay, now, Trisha chose one of those men as her date.
03:38Before she tells us which one she chose, let's see all three of them again, okay?
03:41First there was David.
03:42He's a 41-year-old acupuncturist.
03:44And then Dwayne, he's a publisher, and he's 41 also.
03:48Finally, Warren, he's 39, and he's a clothing buyer.
03:51Okay, audience, time for your voting machines.
03:53You've met Trisha.
03:54You've seen her choices.
03:56Who do you think is best for Trisha?
03:57Here in the studio and at home, too, please make your choice right now.
04:01Okay?
04:02We're going to take a break.
04:03When we come back, we're going to find out who Trisha selected, and we're going to find
04:06out everything that happened on their date.
04:07You hang in there now.
04:11In a little while, we're going to find out who the audience picked, but right now, we're
04:14going to find out who Trisha selected.
04:16Trisha, who did you select?
04:18David.
04:19David, she drives.
04:21Okay, now on Left Connections, we get both sides of the story.
04:24We ask our couples not to speak to each other after their date, and we keep them apart
04:27so they'll be less inhibited about telling their story.
04:30Now, David is backstage.
04:31We want to say hello to David Nickel.
04:33Hi, David.
04:34Hi, Chuck.
04:35How are you?
04:35You're fine.
04:36David, I'm going to come back to you in just a second.
04:38Trisha, why did you pick David?
04:40He has such fantastic energy.
04:43I'm talking about energy that voices connect over the telephone.
04:46I mean, it was immediate.
04:48Okay.
04:49I believe that.
04:51I mean, she's really...
04:53David, I feel exactly the same way.
04:55I could tell.
04:56I just had a feeling you were going to say that.
04:58What was your first impression?
04:59Well, your first saw her.
05:00I was wandering around the airport.
05:01What?
05:02She paid for my way to Palm Springs, and I was wandering around the airport, and where
05:05is she?
05:06And all at once, this limo drove up, and there was this blonde, and I went, no, it can't
05:11be.
05:12She got out, and it was just like, just like that.
05:15I couldn't keep my hands off of her.
05:18That's why I put her in the back of the limo.
05:20Right.
05:22Tell me about your date.
05:24Well, as David already told you, I flew him to Palm Springs because I was doing a charity
05:29event there, a tennis tournament.
05:30Mm-hmm.
05:31So I flew him in, met him at the airport, in the limousine, then we went to the tennis
05:37tournament, and just as we were getting out of the limo, David said to me, Trisha, I want
05:43you to know that I'm open to anyone being healed with my services.
05:49David's an acupuncturist.
05:51The MC of the tennis tournament was Ron Maysack, and he's sitting there with a big bandage on
05:56his knees and crutches and so forth and so on, and David said, someone else said, David's
06:02here to heal you.
06:03Did it work?
06:04It worked.
06:05He's sitting there with needles up and down his legs, and David's doing his little
06:09acupressure, and it was wonderful.
06:10Well, within two minutes, like a magnet, all of the celebrities, all of the pros, one with
06:17a shoulder, one with a knee.
06:18Celebrities will go for anything.
06:19David became kind of the star of the whole thing.
06:21Well, that's great.
06:22Now, what happened after this, though, after this whole thing?
06:25Okay.
06:25Then they had a little party for us, and then it was time to go back to L.A., so
06:30I put him
06:30in the back of the limo with a basket of grapes, and drove around Palm Springs a little bit,
06:36and then we headed back to L.A., and he was feeding me grapes on the way back because there
06:41was a little leftover for the morning breakfast.
06:43She was just so open and ready to experience some of the things that I wanted to offer her
06:48while she was driving.
06:52You should try to feed someone grapes.
06:54This is classic, you guys.
06:55You should try to feed someone grapes that's driving a limo.
06:58You know, just come around, and she, wow, I had a little hard time getting my finger
07:01out of her mouth.
07:03That's okay.
07:05Chuck, I want you to know I'm having a hard time sitting back here waiting.
07:08Are you really?
07:08Yeah.
07:09Okay, then let's get it over with.
07:10Let's find out who the audience picked.
07:12Okay, quickly.
07:18Warren, with how many, what is it, 47%?
07:2147%.
07:22Hmm.
07:22How disappointing.
07:23I guess.
07:25Of course, I've got to say this to you.
07:27We'll pick up the tab if you want to go out with Warren.
07:30Oh, no way.
07:32You want to go with David?
07:33I played for 20 days with David.
07:35All right.
07:36David, get out here.
07:37She wants to see you now.
07:42There he goes.
07:48Sit down here on the couch for a minute.
07:50Oh, nice to meet you.
07:51It's nice to meet you too, David.
07:53Yeah.
07:53Well, good.
07:54Everything's going great for you.
07:55And even though the audience didn't pick you, I can see you guys are just really liking
07:59each other a lot.
07:59You know, because of the love connection and her, I had a pro-celebrity tournament this
08:03past weekend.
08:03I got another one coming up.
08:05Good.
08:05We have a nice gift for both of you.
08:07Thank you very much for being on the show.
08:08It's been our pleasure.
08:09It really has.
08:10It's been our pleasure.
08:11Please let us know how your relationship develops.
08:13We'd like to know.
08:13Okay.
08:14All right.
08:14I tell you what, we're going to come right back with another couple.
08:16I hope they're just as happy as this one.
08:17We'll do it.
08:20All right.
08:21We're back.
08:21This time, let's meet a man who chose a date from our videotape library.
08:25He was raised in Ohio.
08:27He says he loves a challenge and he's taking his time about getting married.
08:32Please welcome David Lawrence.
08:36Hi, David.
08:37Did I get the last name right?
08:39Right.
08:39Very good.
08:40Sit down here.
08:41Why are you taking your time, David, about getting married?
08:43Why not?
08:43Just rush headlong into it.
08:45Why not?
08:45You don't want to rush into anything.
08:46You want to have a little bit of fun first.
08:48You said you like a challenge, right?
08:49I think so, yes.
08:50What kind of a challenge?
08:52Well, I like a woman who's actually intimidating, I think is a good word.
08:57I just like someone who can put it to me intellectually, which may be cliche, but someone that is a
09:02challenge that way and someone that's very pretty and just go after them and see what happens.
09:06Either on a par or above.
09:08On or above.
09:09Yeah.
09:10Okay.
09:10Just stretch a little bit, learn something.
09:11Now that we know a little bit about you, based on David's preferences, he was shown videotapes and questionnaires of
09:16three women.
09:17Now, we're going to show you a portion of the tapes that he saw and you in the home audience
09:20and you here in the studio audience as well.
09:22Watch very closely because we're going to ask you to pick the woman you think is best for David.
09:27First, there was Joyce.
09:29Now, she was raised in Cleveland and she's working on a master's degree and she tells us about her hobby.
09:34But when I lived in New York City, I dated five nights a week.
09:37I used to be a hobby.
09:39But I decided that I would really look to do more interesting things than just date.
09:45I like younger men because they're more accepting.
09:48They're more aware of the new role of women.
09:51They treat you more like you're an individual.
09:54Next, there was Penny.
09:55Now, she was raised in Chicago.
09:57Says she's a typical Gemini and here's how she approaches men.
10:01I think by crazy, I just mean I'm not afraid to talk to people.
10:06And I'm not really afraid of rejection, like going up and asking somebody to dance.
10:10If they say no, I say, what's wrong with you?
10:12You're lost.
10:12Goodbye.
10:14And finally, you saw Sharon.
10:15Now, she's from Tennessee.
10:16She likes to travel.
10:17And here are some of her thoughts on the singles seat.
10:20I got very tired of the club scene.
10:23It's fun sometimes.
10:24I enjoy it now and then, but not on a week-to-week basis or daily basis at all.
10:29I don't know.
10:29I find that so many people, I suppose for different reasons, are, well, they're lonely.
10:38And so, they seek companionship.
10:40But at the same time, they're afraid of commitment because I think there's so much divorce.
10:45Now, David selected one of those women as his date.
10:48Before he tells us who he chose, let's show you all three again, okay?
10:50First, there was Joyce.
10:52Now, she's a 32-year-old educational consultant.
10:55And then there's Penny.
10:56She's a personnel manager.
10:57And she's 27.
10:59And finally, Sharon.
11:00She's 26 and works as a secretary.
11:03Okay, audience.
11:04It's time for your voting machines.
11:05Now, you've met David.
11:06You've heard a little about him.
11:07You've seen his choices.
11:09Who do you think is the best lady for David?
11:11In a little while, we'll find out who the audience chose for David.
11:14But first, let's find out who he chose, okay?
11:16Who did you select, David?
11:17I picked Sharon.
11:19Sharon, interesting.
11:20Okay?
11:21Now, on Love Connection, we get both sides of the story.
11:23So, we ask our couples not to see each other after they're dating.
11:26And we keep them apart so that they'll be less inhibited about telling their story.
11:29Sharon is backstage now.
11:30So, let's say hello to Sharon Doss.
11:33Hi, Sharon.
11:34Hi, Sharon.
11:35Hi, David.
11:37I'm going to come back and talk to you in just a minute.
11:38Let me ask David something, okay?
11:40David, why did you choose Sharon?
11:41I liked her Tennessee accent.
11:44And I thought she was very attractive.
11:45And I felt a certain amount of chemistry for her.
11:48Basically, there's a reason.
11:49Okay.
11:51Now, Sharon, you've never seen David before.
11:53What was your first impression of him?
11:55Um, he was a very nice guy.
11:57Um, you know, he had a nice personality.
12:01He laughed a lot.
12:02Good sense of humor.
12:03What happened on the date, David?
12:04We went to the beach to a nice ocean restaurant.
12:08Oh, nice.
12:08Yeah.
12:09And I wanted to park along the road there.
12:11And, uh, I didn't want to go in the lot because it was too cheap to pay the valet, you
12:15know.
12:15Sure.
12:16Want to add something to that?
12:18Oh, well, um, I mean, they had valet parking and I thought we might as well take advantage of it.
12:22Okay.
12:23Yeah.
12:24Why not?
12:24All right.
12:25Anyway, we went...
12:26So you did the valet parking anyway?
12:27Oh, yeah.
12:27I had to go in and give the guy a dollar.
12:29We went in and they said it'll be about a...
12:31You know.
12:33You got...
12:33Doled out one heavy buck?
12:35You got to be sensible now.
12:36You went in and you had dinner?
12:38Had dinner, yeah.
12:39She had, uh, lobster.
12:40I had a steak or something.
12:42And, uh...
12:42Excellent dinner.
12:43Yeah.
12:43It was quite good.
12:44Good dinner.
12:45It was quite good.
12:46What happened after...
12:47How much was it?
12:47How much was the dinner, by the way?
12:48I had around $50.
12:50She said she wanted, uh...
12:51I wanted to get some wine.
12:53You know, just the type you drink with the guys that you...
12:56But she said, California wine makes me break out in a ranch.
13:01You know.
13:02Anyway, we talked...
13:03We had a good time in the restaurant, talked, and the rapport was there.
13:05And, uh, she told me a little bit about her background.
13:08I told her some of mine.
13:10Tried to keep out the sorted parts.
13:12You know.
13:12So if you want to get to the late show and see a movie.
13:15Okay.
13:15Anyway, we...
13:16We found it lucky.
13:17We found another parking place.
13:18I didn't have to pay there, either.
13:20And, uh...
13:20We only walked two blocks that time.
13:22We just bought $50 for dinner and...
13:23That eludes three parking attendants.
13:26Sharon?
13:27How are things going at this point?
13:29Uh...
13:29I'd say that's pretty much right.
13:31It was very cold in the...
13:32In the theater, and, uh...
13:34I had worn a silk outfit that was, uh...
13:37You know, kind of...
13:37I got kind of chilly.
13:38And David was nice enough to loan me his sweater.
13:41And, uh...
13:42I thought that was very nice.
13:43Loaned you his sweater instead of his arm?
13:45Did he, uh...
13:46No.
13:47Okay.
13:47How did...
13:48How did your date end?
13:49Uh...
13:49Well, I drove her home.
13:50And, uh...
13:51Found a parking place.
13:52It was kind of, I don't know...
13:53Did that have to pay for it?
13:54No!
13:54Didn't have to pay for it.
13:56I could...
13:56I was two for three.
13:58And, uh...
13:59Walked her up to her partner on the second floor.
14:01And said she was a nice lady.
14:03And kissed her goodnight.
14:03Missed her mouth and hit her cheek.
14:05And popped.
14:06Sometimes that happens.
14:07You do the best you can.
14:08And, uh...
14:09It was a nice date.
14:10I'm kind of interested to see who the audience picked.
14:11You want to see?
14:12Yes.
14:12Okay.
14:12Let's take a look over here and see who they have picked for you.
14:17They picked Sharon.
14:19Alright.
14:20Now, if you take the audience's advice, uh...
14:22We'll pick up the tab.
14:23We'll even give you some little extra maybe for parking.
14:26Good!
14:28I would like that.
14:29And, uh...
14:29You can take Sharon out again.
14:30Would you like that?
14:31That would be fun.
14:32Yeah.
14:32Sharon, how about you?
14:33Would you like to go out with David again?
14:35Well, I like David.
14:37Uh...
14:37As a person, I think he's...
14:38He's a very nice guy.
14:40Um...
14:40You know, it was a pleasant evening.
14:43Um...
14:43I didn't feel the chemistry that David felt.
14:47Um...
14:47I think we could be great friends, but I don't think that there is a romantic interest there.
14:51Well, that's fair enough.
14:53Listen, honey, thank you for being on Love Connection.
14:54We have a nice gift for you.
14:55Thank you for your candid responses, and hopefully we'll see you again soon.
14:58Thank you. Bye, David.
14:59David, I'd like to thank you very much, too.
15:01Bye.
15:01Thank you very much.
15:01And, uh...
15:02Maybe you'll get fixed up again.
15:03Who knows?
15:03On a previous show, the studio audience selected a date for our next guest.
15:07And when we come back, we're gonna find out what happened on that date.
15:10Stay with us.
15:15This your bag, sir?
15:16What gave it away?
15:17Oh, you the Geico Gecko!
15:19I'm a huge fan.
15:20I filed a claim for my car with the Geico app.
15:22Only took two minutes.
15:23Well, I mean, Geico's all about getting more than just savings.
15:26Next time, how about less fluid ounces?
15:28Fair enough.
15:29Oh.
15:30You use this much serum?
15:31Well, my skincare routine requires...
15:34And a pump top?
15:35It's gonna make a mess.
15:36Well, I'm taking this.
15:38You took all of them.
15:39Get more than just savings.
15:40Get more with Geico.
15:41Have a nice flight.
15:43I'm Anthony Bourdain.
15:44I write, I travel, I eat, and I'm hungry for more.
15:49Nice!
15:49We're not even eating yet.
15:51It's good.
15:52All right.
15:52I'm going in.

17:12You know, a while back, our next guest agreed to let our studio audience choose her date for her.
17:17Let's meet her again and find out what happened on that date, okay?
17:20She was raised in Wabash, Indiana.
17:22Said she loves to spend money.
17:24Please welcome Carolyn Costillo.
17:30Hiya Carolyn.
17:33Welcome back.
17:34It's nice to be here.
17:37Well, before we hear about your date, what do you mean you like to spend money?
17:40What is that?
17:41Well, doesn't every woman like to spend money?
17:43Sure.
17:43Well, I guess everybody likes to spend money.
17:45Sure.
17:45What do you like to spend money on?
17:46Uh, fun things.
17:48Like?
17:48Um, artwork.
17:49Mm-hmm.
17:50Jewelry.
17:51Mm-hmm.
17:51Trips.
17:52Yeah?
17:52Yeah.
17:53Big things.
17:54Big stuff.
17:55Big.
17:55Big spin.
17:56Now, the last time you were here, we showed the audience tapes of three men and they chose
17:59Dennis, or you chose.
18:01Oh, no, they chose.
18:01That's right.
18:02They chose Dennis Berg as your date.
18:04And, uh, you and Dennis went out, right?
18:07That's right.
18:07Okay.
18:08How'd it go?
18:10Well, it was great.
18:11Well, before you tell me all about it, Dennis is backstage.
18:14Yes.
18:15Let's bring him on the television here, okay?
18:18Okay.
18:18Dennis, are you back there?
18:20I sure am, Chuck.
18:20How you doing?
18:21Just great.
18:27Well, you're the, you're the gentleman our audience picked for Carolyn.
18:31How, what was your first impression of her?
18:33Um, very good.
18:35I mean, very attractive lady.
18:36Just pretty, isn't she?
18:38Very nice.
18:38And, uh, appealed to me right away.
18:40It doesn't take me long.
18:41If I see someone that appeals to me, it hits, it clicks right away.
18:44Good.
18:45Good.
18:45Okay.
18:46Now, Carolyn, spill the beans.
18:48Okay.
18:48What happened on the date?
18:49Well, first of all, as I said, I wanted to create an atmosphere of total elegance and
18:54class and, you know, great date.
18:56Really?
18:57So, I hired a limo.
18:58Okay?
19:00So, when he came to the door, the limo was there waiting for us.
19:05We get in the car, the driver takes off, we're trying not to spill the wine on each
19:10other, you know, and the first thing out of his mouth is, I can't believe how much you
19:14look like my first wife.
19:16Oh, gee.
19:18Yeah.
19:19And I went...
19:19Sorry about that.
19:20I said, you know, you could have gone all night without saying anything.
19:25You know, I didn't know if it was good, if it was bad, you know.
19:28It was good.
19:28Because I didn't know how to read that one, you know.
19:30It says, okay, moving right along, you know, let's have some more wine.
19:33Anyway, so we went down to the beach to a very elegant restaurant.
19:37Had a wonderful meal.
19:38It was just very...
19:39Dennis is an excellent conversationalist.
19:42I thought you were going to say he was an excellent eater.
19:45I'm that, too.
19:46I do that, too.
19:48That's a good...
19:49I know, I'm off on another world of this.
19:51Yeah, what happened then?
19:52Oh, we ordered wine, and we just had a very, very nice time.
19:56Nice.
19:57And I took the coast route home.
19:58Well, when we got to the door, when we got home, the chauffeur turned around, and
20:05like in a cab, oh, that'll be a, you know, X number of dollars lady.
20:09Well, I was really embarrassed.
20:11I really was.
20:12And I was angry, because I wanted this to be very nice.
20:16So I said to Dennis, do you mind getting out of the car?
20:21You made him get out of the car.
20:22I made him get out of the car.
20:22Yes, she did.
20:23And I let the chauffeur have, I mean, cut him off at the...
20:27Dressed him down.
20:28Oh, no.
20:29I packed him up and put him away.
20:31Cut him off.
20:32Yeah, right.
20:33Gee, my knee looked pretty strong.
20:35Well, I was just very upset, because I thought it was a very tacky end to an otherwise...
20:39So you got him straightened out then?
20:40Yes, right.
20:41How'd the date end there?
20:42We went inside, and we had Grand Marnier, and sat and got comfortable.
20:48And I mean, I faded.
20:49He said, I know you have a big drive ahead of you.
20:52I know it's a long ways.
20:53I said, if you would like to crash, you're on my couch, that's fine.
20:56But I said, I have to go to bed.
20:59So he says, oh, I appreciate it.
21:01He was very much of a gentleman.
21:02He says, no, I can make it home.
21:04I'm fine.
21:06So that was the end of the evening.
21:07It was great.
21:08I had other thoughts, but at least she offered me her couch.
21:14It could have been worse.
21:15You could have sat asleep in your car.
21:17That's true.
21:18Yeah.
21:18So you made it home.
21:19I got to tell you something.
21:21You guys sound like you had a wonderful time.
21:22We really did.
21:23That's a good date.
21:23She's terrific.
21:24Yes.
21:25Carolyn, since you were such a good sport and you let the audience choose your date for
21:28you, if you'd like to go out with Dennis again, we'd like to pick up the tab for another
21:31date.
21:32Would you like to do that?
21:33That'd be very nice.
21:34Yeah.
21:34Dennis, is that okay with you?
21:35That's just fine with me.
21:36Why don't you come out and join us on stage, Dennis?
21:42Thank you, Dennis.
21:43Thank you, Dennis.
21:46Thank you, Dennis.

21:58She didn't exactly go to sleep.
22:00She didn't go to sleep.
22:01No, she tried to.
22:02I kept her up.
