Could Giannis Antetokounmpo be 'house shopping'?!
Transcript
00:00Ocho Cinco says that Chad Johnson, who's from Florida, says that, hey, Giannis has been shopping for houses there since
00:08during the season.
00:09There was also this report from, I hope I'm pronouncing this correctly, NBA reporter Jerry Woolfell, who says that the
00:17Heat have made a trade offer to the Bucs for Giannis.
00:21That includes Tyler Hero, Hamei Hakes Jr., and Kaleel Ware, as well as the 13th overall pick in this draft,
00:28and two future first-round picks.
00:30So, quick takeaway for me here is that package doesn't include Bam Adebayo, and to me, that sounds like if
00:37the Celtics really wanted to, it is possible they could get a deal done for Giannis without offering Jalen Brown.
00:44Because I don't see how the Heat would actually, if the Bucs are entertaining that offer, would actually take that
00:51without Bam Adebayo included.
00:53Like, Bam is the piece that you would move for Giannis.
00:56What were the picks?
00:56So, it's the 13th in this draft, which is interesting, because the takeaway when the draft picks, when the lottery
01:02picks came out, was Miami, oh, Miami's out of the Giannis sweepstakes, because they have the 13th pick, which is
01:08too far down to really be considered, like, that great.
01:12And then two future first-rounders.
01:14If you're out of a top three in the NBA draft, it might as well be, like, a sixth.
01:17Well, top five, for sure.
01:18Yeah, exactly.
01:19And the future, like, in the NBA, you can push it ahead, like, 40 years or something, right?
01:23Yeah, pretty much, yeah.
01:24And then you can have protected spouses.
01:27But even that, like, if you're Milwaukee, you're like, yeah, Miami, I mean, call back when you got a better
01:33deal than that.
01:34There's no way, like, Tyler Harrell's a good player, but there's no way you're giving up Giannis for Tyler Harrell.
01:41And who was the other guy?
01:42Hamei Hakez, and then Killell Ware.
01:44Would Jalen Brown, Mago, want to be on a team with Giannis?
01:48It's a good question, because Jalen has said in the past, Giannis is a child.
01:53He doesn't, you know, he doesn't seem to have a friendship with him.
01:58Tatum has a friendship with everybody, so it's kind of, like, easier there.
02:02I'm just going to jump into my lead here, because I was thinking yesterday on the way down here about
02:06whether or not the Celtics are actually,
02:10when it comes to spending money, are they going to allow Brad to go outside of the apron?
02:16Like, so what do you think?
02:17So he bought that team, spent $6 billion on it, right?
02:23And Wick, famously on this show, told us about how necessary it was for them to avoid the penalties and
02:30to stop spending.
02:32Are they really going to, because Brad was pissed about the way the season ended, are they really, is he
02:38really, you're a new owner, you spent a fortune on it.
02:41Are you really going to allow him to spend what he needs to spend in order to make this team
02:46better?
02:47I think that they took their medicine over the last year.
02:51They cut so much that if they don't, if Brad Stevens brought them a situation, a trade, a free agent,
02:59whatever, and it pushed them that far,
03:01and he said, this is what it's going to take for us to get back to the finals, how do
03:05you not?
03:06Because you see what you did last year, and you're in Jason Tatum's championship window.
03:10If you're keeping Jalen Brown there, okay.
03:12Like, you've got to push for it now, because you see how quickly these windows slam shut.
03:18And it already happened once before.
03:20You thought you were in a championship window with Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward.
03:25Right.
03:25And then that slammed shut, and you were able to get back into it.
03:28I mean, I will say Bill.
03:29It's not going to be this opportunity forever.
03:31I will say Bill Chisholm seems like he's a fan.
03:35Like, I know he gets made fun of for his Western mass.
03:39A fan would not get here and sell off parts.
03:44Celtics fan for life.
03:45So you're saying, Curtis, that no, that's not going to – that he is not going to allow them.
03:50I don't have much experience in the real world, but I have been around a lot of private equity people.
03:54Sick brag.
03:55They are not into spending money that they don't have to.
03:59They go in.
04:00ROI, return on investment.
04:03Yeah.
04:03And they made a massive investment.
04:05I would be shocked if they got into the tax this offseason.
04:08See, I think the problem with Chisholm, he kind of backed himself into a corner
04:13where I think he has to spend because he is such a front-facing owner where he's on the side.
04:22He's like your Mark Cuban or –
04:24Right.
04:24Is it Steve –
04:25Mark Cuban talked to the media.
04:26When was the last time Bill Chisholm talked to the media?
04:27No, no, no, no.
04:28I'm talking – was it Steve Ballmer?
04:30Is that the Clippers owner?
04:31Yeah.
04:31And didn't he have a nice chat with you at the airport?
04:33He was lovely.
04:34He had a Celtics thing on.
04:35And he had AirPods with the, like, or headphones that actually had the string on it.
04:38He is such an owner where he's, like, in the game, where he's standing up.
04:43He's trying to get the crowd into it.
04:44So, when you're –
04:46He's throwing out T-shirts.
04:47Yeah.
04:47When you're like that, you have to answer the question.
04:50What?
04:50Can he throw in T-shirts?
04:52He's going to spend?
04:52Yeah, he's throwing T-shirts.
04:53That shows you he's engaged.
04:54God, we are compromised.
04:56Well, no, because what it does –
04:58He had the T-shirt bazooka.
04:59Yeah, but what it does, though, it shows the engagement that he has.
05:03And if he doesn't –
05:04He hasn't engaged with the fans at all.
05:05I haven't heard a word from him.
05:06And if he doesn't do it, then he gets criticized, right?
05:09Like, I think everybody gives him a pass for this year because it was smart of them to get rid
05:13of poor Zingas.
05:14It was smart of them to get rid of Drew Holiday.
05:16It was smart of them to not pay Al Horford.
05:18So, you get a pass for this year.
05:20But you're – you being on the sidelines, going crazy and doing all this other stuff,
05:25you have to answer the questions on why you're not adding to this team.
05:29I just think you, too, might be disappointed.
05:32I don't think I'm going to be.
05:33I don't think I'm going to be.
05:34That was my thought yesterday was, wait a minute.
05:36He just spent all this money.
05:38Right.
05:38And he's, as Curtis said, he's a private equity guy.
05:42So, you know what I think their money is going to go into?
05:43I think their money is going to go into a plan to build a Celtics basketball facility.
05:48I think that that is the direction they're heading.
05:50You mean a new arena?
05:52Arena?
05:52Right.
05:53Okay.
05:53That will be where they're directing the resources.
05:56And their defense will be, we're making a long-term investment in the financial security of the club
06:01where we don't have to pay rent and owe everything to the Jacobs family.
06:04And they will use that.
06:05Because the only way they –
06:06Where is it going to be?
06:08That's just based on your creativity, right?
06:10Oh, it's not based on any reporting.
06:11Yeah.
06:12Yeah.
06:12Well, I mean, we don't – Bill Chisholm doesn't talk to the media, so we have no idea what he's
06:17thinking.
06:17No, we don't.
06:18If it was like Mark Cuban, we'd know what he thought about everything all the time.
06:20But when you look at the way he's invested just as a fan, you have to answer questions.
06:26Or you – not answer, but you're going to hear the criticism when you don't do anything,
06:31but you're standing on the sidelines.
06:33Think about all the people that were like, hey, when John Henry showed up and we played the audio,
06:37hey, spend money on anybody, right?
06:39You can't be sitting front and center night in and night out and not spend without people chirping
06:45and you hearing that.
06:47If he was like a behind-the-scenes owner, then you could go –
06:50That's what I need to know.
06:51Is he the kind of guy that is pissed off that the Knicks are going to win this series?
06:57Like are pissed off with that result of that Knicks game last night?
07:01I would think so.
07:02If you're up there and you're getting the crowd going and you're high-fiving guys,
07:06then either you're really, really a diehard and you're passionate or it's all fake.
07:12Wiggy, and I don't know the answer to it.
07:14How many games was he at going great, crazy, whooping it up before he bought the team?
07:19I don't know.
07:20I don't know.
07:21Well, if he's a huge fan and he's a billionaire, why wouldn't he go to all the games?
07:24But this is his baby now, right?
07:25But it was always his baby if I'm listening to what you're saying.
07:28But it's different when you now own the team and you are a fan.
07:32Now it's like, okay –
07:33But how do you become a bigger fan?
07:34You're just always a fan.
07:35No, no, because now it's put up a shut-up because you have control of it.
07:38So you think Donnie Wahlberg is going to be heckling him?
07:40No, I didn't say Donnie.
07:41So he's sitting in front row.
07:43Who's going to be going after him?
07:44We'll be criticizing him on the radio.
07:46Wiggy will.
07:47Wiggy will be there.
07:48You don't think we'll be criticizing him on the radio?
07:50It's fine, but he's never been in the media.
07:51Why does he want to sit down and talk about the plan like every other owner we ask for to
07:55do that?
07:55There will be people – just like you say John Henry has the noise.
07:58There will be people that will be criticizing him because you have Jalen Brown and Jason Tatum,
08:04two of the top best players in the NBA.
08:06Do you people see what I have to go through every morning?
08:09I have to keep these – I have to keep these two separate.
