01:00I mean, sometimes you get some perks and stuff, like people recognize you and things like that, but the worst
01:05is I think is all your, you know, you make mistakes when you grow up, so all your mistakes are
01:09kind of shown.
01:10But I also think it's not a bad thing because maybe some other people can see themselves in me and
01:15realize that we're not all perfect and we all got to learn.
01:20Hey, Coco. I'm wondering if you could compare the experience of playing a Grand Slam final in Ash to Chatrier.
01:29What are the ways that the craziness of Ash, maybe just like how insanely loud it can be when an
01:35American plays a final there, affected you?
01:37And then how was it different to what you experienced both against Iga and Arena in the finals here?
01:41Yeah. Ash, I think the crowd pop was crazy and also the roof was closed that match. It was like
01:46just so loud. And then I remember, you know, when I was serving out that last game, everybody was quiet
01:52in between points.
01:53In between points. It was like just a difference when people actually focused. And then against Iga, honestly, I don't
01:59remember much of that experience because I was so nervous and I literally couldn't play that final.
02:04Like I was just so nervous. Honestly, I don't remember much. I just remember in the trophy ceremony being like,
02:09I never want to lose like a match like this again.
02:11And then Arena, I wasn't, I was surprised that the crowd was heavily for me. I honestly, I didn't know
02:17what the crowd would look like in that final last year.
02:20But I think the most, I was just surprised that the crowd was heavily for me. And also Spike Lee
02:25was like right next to my towel box. So that was pretty cool.
02:30Hey, Coco. You talked about earlier in the play court season about sort of working on your emotional control.
02:39It's been a little different the last few weeks than it has been in the past.
02:44I'm curious, like what the work on the emotional control looks like for you.
02:49Is it talking to someone? I know you're a big person of faith.
02:53And just sort of if you could talk through the different sort of aspects of how you present yourself on
03:01the court and how you work to present the person and absorb the experience of the match the way you
03:07want to.
03:07Yeah, I mean, I have a therapist that I've been going to for a long time and also just journaling
03:14and just trying to, I think for me it's the most, it's just trying not to be negative.
03:18And I think sometimes I can be too much of a perfectionist.
03:22So when I'm playing the matches, I just want to win literally every point in the most perfect way.
03:29And obviously it just doesn't always happen for me like that all the time.
03:32So I think I can see like where I want to be and I want to like be there so
03:36bad.
03:37But I just trying now to focus on the process and the ups and downs of like the journey of
03:42tennis.
03:42And it's something that I can hone in on and do well at times.
03:46And other times I can not do so well with it.
03:52Yeah, I mean.
03:56I mean, I, I did it like, I don't know what you want me to say.
04:03No, I didn't hurt.
04:04I had thick braids.
04:06So, yeah.
04:09Is there a way you can compare the mindset you had last year coming into, to this year because you
04:14were battling so hard last year too with, you know, the serve and everything and finding ways.
04:19And you've been a bit in the same kind of situation this year.
04:22Does it feel the same or are you feeling better still this year?
04:25No, I feel a lot better.
04:27I mean, I still had some doubles in the matches, but I mean, my average in Rome was four double
04:32faults, which is, I can do that.
04:34So, yeah.
04:35So I think for me is much better than last year.
04:39And obviously I'm winning these matches a lot on just mental like fight and stuff.
04:43But I do feel like I'm a better player than I was last year.
04:47So it just gives me more confidence.
04:49Yeah.
04:52Hi, Coco.
04:53I'm just wondering with your experience you've had now for being on tour for years, what you sort of learned
04:57about scheduling and choosing when to play.
04:59And sometimes I think this year you maybe said afterwards you second guess some sort of scheduling choices you've made.
05:04And then also specifically I'm wondering about Washington where you won and haven't come back.
05:08Yeah.
05:08So if that would be at all a possibility for you in the future.
05:11Yeah.
05:13I guess you just learn what doesn't work and what does work.
05:17I think for me the Middle East has always been a tough swing for me.
05:19And I don't know, I keep trying to make it work and it's just not.
05:22So maybe next year is something I can reconsider.
05:26And then Washington, I mean, honestly, it's a tournament that I would love to go back to.
05:31Last year, well, first was the Olympics, so that just kind of took that out.
05:34And then last year, I think just with going deep here and having the quick turnaround, it was tough.
05:39So it would kind of be circumstantial on how I do in these tournaments now and Wimbledon.
05:44But it's one of my favorite events that I played on tour.
05:47So it's definitely something that I would like to go back to in the future.
05:53And I definitely will play that tournament again.
05:55I just don't know what year.
05:58Go, go.
05:58Can you just talk about your involvement in the sort of media reduction today?
06:03There was talk of boycotts, obviously, in Rome.
06:05Yeah, just where you're at with that right now.
06:06Yeah, I mean, I'm one of the players participating, so I won't be here too long.
06:12But no, I mean, I don't know.
06:15It was something that was brought to me like after Rome.
06:17I know they had discussions during Rome, but I was in the tournament.
06:20And I don't know.
06:21I think for me, it's just not necessarily like going to maybe make a big difference like to the slams.
06:28But I think for me, like for this tournament, but I think it shows that we're all or a lot
06:32of us are on the same page
06:33and have a kind of a collective action other than just having conversations.
06:38And I think this is the first like real point of action that we've done.
06:42And yeah, I think I'm proud of that we were all able to get on the same page.
06:48Hey, go, go.
06:49A few players, including Jess, like a few minutes ago, like joke that it's not difficult for players,
06:55like asking players to do less media.
06:57It's not very difficult.
06:58I'm curious, like given like the talk about boycotts and stuff,
07:01how willing do you think players would be able to do things that might hurt themselves,
07:06like make sacrifices in order to, you know, kind of push forward with this and achieve their goals?
07:11Like an example is that I guess you could have decided not to depress at all,
07:15to almost dare Roland Garros to find you.
07:18So yeah, just curious how comfortable you feel players would be to do things that aren't comfortable.
07:23I think it depends on which players.
07:25I feel like as the ones who are doing this today, I think they're pretty comfortable with this part of
07:32things.
07:32And I don't know, it was like a fine line of like what we can do,
07:35but also not punish you guys because you guys have nothing to do with this.
07:40So that's why I think a lot of players chose to do media today
07:43and just trying to limit things with like the TVs and the tournaments partners with that,
07:49but also showing up today and be able to answer questions for you all too.
07:55So it was kind of, it's kind of difficult to balance.
07:58And obviously, yeah, it's not hard to ask us to do less media,
08:02but I also appreciate the media too.
08:06So I don't know, it's kind of like a, I don't know, what is it, devil on each order?
08:12I don't know, what's the term?
08:13I don't know.
08:13You guys know what I'm trying to say.
08:15Angel, devil?
08:15Yeah, God.
08:17God, sorry.
08:20Thanks.
08:21I was just going to say, I really hope we're the Angels.
08:23Yes, you guys are.
08:25At least with me.
08:26I don't know what questions you'll ask everyone else.
08:29Danielle was in here just talking about this,
08:31saying that it wasn't, it was the most unified he'd seen a lot of the top players.
08:36I guess, were you surprised given that there is no kind of formal like league technically
08:40or you guys aren't unionized?
08:41Were you surprised how easy it was to organize?
08:44Obviously, you guys are kind of all on the same page in terms of what you want,
08:47but like it must be hard to just like get everyone's phone numbers in the same group chat
08:51and things like that and get people to agree to do something like this relatively quickly.
08:55I think amongst the top 10, it wasn't really too difficult
08:58because we first had those conversations last year.
09:00Actually here was the first one I attended in person.
09:04So I guess on that standpoint, it wasn't too difficult or too surprising for me
09:11just from my experience of how things have been going over the course of a year.
09:14But obviously, I don't know, hopefully we can continue to just get more players involved
09:19and more things involved and get the results that we would like to see.
09:24Can you put a question?
09:26Yeah, I have about like one minute left.
09:32Yeah, I got to be strict.
09:34Clock's running.
09:34When you have a record like you do here, 27-5, title last year, does it put you at ease
09:39or does it make you comfortable or are you more focused on the fact that you're defending,
09:43which probably you're not, I would hope?
09:46I think it, honestly, whenever it comes to this tournament,
09:49I don't even think about my past results here.
09:52It's obviously different thinking about last year, but I don't know,
09:55for some reason last year feels like 10 years ago.
09:56So I think for me, sometimes in my match I know, like, okay, I play well here
10:02even if I'm not doing my best in the match.
10:04I know I can find that level just because of my history here,
10:07but it's also not something I'm thinking about entering the match.
10:11Okay, I have to go.
10:13Sorry.
10:13I'll see you guys later.
10:14Thank you.
10:15And also, it's hot in here, so I don't blame Daniil at all.
10:19I'm, like, sweating too.
10:21I'm, like, I'm, like, I'm, like, I'm, like, I'm, like, I'm, like, I'm, like, I'm, like, I'm, like, I'm, like,
10:23I'm, like, I'm, like, I'm, like, I'm, like, I'm, like, I'm, like, I'm, like, I'm, like, I'm, like, I'm, like,
10:23I'm, like, I'm, like, I'm, like, I'm, like, I'm, like, I'm, like, I'm, like, I'm, like, I'm, like, I'm, like,
10:24I'm, like, I'm, like, I'm, like, I'm, like, I'm, like, I'm, like, I'm, like, I'm, like, I'm, like, I'm, like,
10:24I'm, like, I'm, like, I'm, like, I'm, like, I
