00:00U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio says Cuba poses a national security threat to the U.S.
00:06as tensions between both countries continue to escalate.
00:09While Washington still prefers a diplomatic solution,
00:13Rubio said the chances of reaching a peaceful agreement remain low.
00:19That said, our preference is always a diplomatic solution, always,
00:23and a negotiated agreement. That's always our preference.
00:28But, to answer your question, if there's a threat to the national security of the United States,
00:33the President not just has the right, he has the obligation to address that national security threat.
00:39Rubio's comments comes just a day after the U.S. charged former Cuban President Raul Castro with murder
00:44over the 1996 downing of two planes, which killed several U.S. citizens.
00:50Cuba's Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez rejected the allegations,
00:54accusing Rubio of lying and insisting that Cuba has never posed a threat to the U.S.
01:00He also accused Rubio of trying to provoke military aggression against the island nation,
01:05as the Trump administration continues to ramp up pressure on the Cuban government.
