00:00What can the U.S. do for India?
00:02India has been deeply affected by the energy supply, the shutting of the Strait of Hormuz.
00:07Can the U.S. provide more energy itself, or what else can the U.S. do with that relationship?
00:11Well, we want to sell them as much energy as they'll buy.
00:12And obviously, you've seen, I think we're at historic levels of U.S. production and U.S. export.
00:17We want to be able to do more.
00:18We were already in talks with them to do more.
00:20We want them to be a bigger part of their portfolio.
00:24We also think there's opportunities with Venezuelan oil.
00:27In fact, it's my understanding that the interim president, Venezuela, will be traveling to India next week as well.
00:35So there's opportunities.
00:36There's a lot to work on with India.
00:38They're a great ally, a great partner.
00:39We do a lot of good work with them.
00:41And so it is an important trip.
00:42I'm glad we're able to do it because I think there'll be a lot for us to talk about.
00:45And we'll also meet with the Quad there, which is important.
00:47I think my first meeting as Secretary of State was with the Quad.
00:51So I believe I got sworn in.
00:53I did the thing in the lobby, and then I went right upstairs, and that was my first meeting.
00:58And I'm glad we're able to do it now in India, and we're going to do one later in the
01:00year as well.
01:01Can we come back to Iran finally?
01:03Just the latest on the negotiations.
01:05Iranian state media is suggesting that the U.S. proposal has closed some of the gaps, or is potentially closing
01:11gaps.
01:11Well, I don't want to get ahead of it.
01:13I think we've made some progress.
01:15But obviously, we're dealing with a system that itself is a little fractured, the Iranian system.
01:23But that said, there'll be a couple visits.
01:26I believe the Pakistanis will be traveling to Tehran today.
01:29So hopefully that will advance this further.
01:31The president's preference is to do a good deal.
01:34That's his preference.
01:35It's always been his preference.
01:36If we can get a good deal done, that would be great.
01:38I'm not here to tell you that it's going to happen for sure,
01:40but I'm here to tell you that we're going to do everything we can to see if we can get
01:43one.
01:44But if we can't get a good deal, the president's been clear.
01:46He has other options.
01:47I'm not going to elaborate on what those are, but everybody knows what those are.
01:50But his preference is always a deal.
01:52His preference is always an agreement.
01:54His preference is always diplomacy.
01:56So let's see if we can get there.
01:59There's some good signs, but we understand.
02:01I don't want to be overly optimistic as well.
02:03So let's see what happens over the next few days.
02:05And how do you intend to get Raul Castro to the United States?
02:10Well, a grand jury in South Florida returned an indictment to Raul Castro.
02:15It's nothing to do with us.
02:16It's a grand jury.
02:16The evidence is clear.
02:17He admits to it.
02:18Raul Castro openly admits and brags about he gave the order to suit down civilian airplanes.
02:26How would you get him here?
02:27Well, I'm not going to talk about how we're going to get him here.
02:30If we were trying to get him here, why would I say to the media what our plans are about
02:33that?
02:33I know you have to ask, but why would I answer that?
02:35The bottom line, there's a lot.
02:37At that point, he becomes a fugitive of American justice.
02:40And, you know, if there's an announcement, I'll probably tell you afterwards, not before.
02:45Okay, a couple more and I've got to get on.
02:46You still have conversations with Raul Castro's grandson?
02:50Look, we remain in...
02:52Here's the problem we have.
02:53We'll engage with the Cubans.
02:54We have our ambassadors met with them recently.
02:56The CIA director was down there a few weeks ago.
02:58There's some State Department communications that occur.
03:01I just don't see a lot of...
03:03At the end of the day, they've got to make a decision.
03:05Their system doesn't work, right?
03:07Their economic system does not work.
03:08It's broken.
03:09And you can't fix it with the current political system that's in place.
03:12They just don't comprehend how to do it.
03:14And it's a failed state.
03:15I don't think...
03:17And you can...
03:20And we'll be right back.
03:20You
