Millions are expected to turn out for this year's vivid showcase with the highly anticipated drone show set to return to Sydney skies across eleven nights. More than 40 light installations will transform the harbour city as the 23-night festival prepares to dazzle visitors once again.

00:05It's our biggest programme ever by a country mile.

00:11this is the largest comprehensive arts festival in the world.
00:15Final checks were carried out on the city's landmarks this week,
00:19ahead of the 22-day showcase.
00:2180% of the whole programme is free to the public,
00:24and I especially wanted the entire light walk to be free to the public.
00:28In its 16th year, the city's annual spectacle not only dazzles,
00:33but organisers say it's a major contributor to the local economy.
00:37It's going to generate $117 million of economic activity.

00:45More than 60 top chefs will fire up 16 stalls here at Vivid Fire Kitchen,
00:51now housed in a new harbourside location at Barangaroo Reserve.
00:55Vivid's drone show will also return across 22 shows,
00:59after dangerous crowds in 2024 put the showcase on hiatus last year.
